We really want to share our expierence with this incompetent hotel. We booked this hotel 24 hours before checkin claiming in green and in bold "Free cancelation", on the next day of the actual check in I've started to present some symptoms of Covid 19 such as fever. We immediately decided to go back home and cancel the rest of our trip. We immediately let the hotel know which replied not even by a sorry to hear you are sick, or thanks for letting us know, but by a very rude "YOU NEED TO PAY IN ANY CASE". They did not even say thank you for letting us know, any normal professional behavior that you would expect from a professional establishment. Further more we've found out via booking.com that they had 5 more rooms available for that night. Since the room as been booked for less than 24 hours and since they have more availabilities for the same night it seems completely FAIR to cancel and not charge 90% of the fee. It's been even suggested that it would have been better to show up (and infect everyone?) We are truly considering taking legal action against this hotel who forces individuals to show up when having signs of corona virus. This hotel management have no sense of business trying to cash wherever and whenever possible (this has been confirmed by other reviews on Google.) It is a bunch of unrespectful individuals who only try to take advantage of the situation and from the potential clients. Do not care about word of mouth, doing false claims about free cancelation, and not finding any correct solutions in such an extrem cases. When reading the negative reviews we've been reassured to read that many individuals felt the same way and have been over charged in an unfair manner, that is more identified as stealing than legal normal business. I would advice to stay VERY far from this hotel who clearly do not know the basics of the hospitality industry as being kind and trying to offer solutions instead of treating people in a extremely rude manner. We'll definitely let people know from our side and we'll engage further action as it is against local rules and regulation which ask people to go in quarantine. We'll definitely remember this behaviour in such an extrem case!

I witnessed the chocking unprofessionalism of this hotel. Unfortunately one of our friend has been tested positive to COVID-19, she called to cancel when feeling the first symptoms. The operator had an unacceptable behavior asking to charge anyway 90% of the fee, not even saying sorry to hear or thank you for letting us know, they just answered "you will have to pay" such a low and unprofessional behavior is undoubtedly rare in the industry. This hotel seems thinking being above the laws. Look at your terms and conditions of sale that does not seem compiling with the present conjuncture of Covid-19 and we are considering contacting the press about this incredible issue to raise awareness of this case. As a final advice I would recommend this hotel to teach politeness and professionalism of their staff which might cost cheaper than legal fees.

Phenomenal location. The view is right towards one of the main attractions of the harz - the Brocken. Aside from that, the buildings are very nice. Each one has a sauna. Many of them have a nice deck with deck chairs and a couple of sun chairs. Staff is friendly and very helpful. As for anything around the area. Just gorgeous.

We stayed here for a long weekend of hiking. And we couldn't have a better location for it. Torfhaus is right in the center of all the hiking routes so can start hiking straight from the resort. We stayed in the hotel side with the three of us, me, the misses and our dog and had a very decent room with a very nice view over the valley. The room was clean and up to date 👍. The staff was very friendly and helpfull although they didn't speak any English. But with our very basic knowledge of German we got there. Overall a very nice dog friendly hotel that is perfect for your hiking holiday.

We had a lovely family reunion here in August. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and modern and there are plenty of activities for everyone to do. You can get Brötchen delivered to your door every morning!

Got a nice house for a long weekend. Clean, quality interior, view of the Brocken, all you really need. Sauna, 2 bathrooms, surprisingly great internet and smart TVs. Free wood for the oven, unfortunately no chips to get the fire started, so a little ingeniouity is required.

Fabulous resort with stunning views across the Harz forest. Top noch lodge accommodation with everything you need for a long or short stay. Local facilities are a bit limited, there is a restaurant, but no local shop. Resort will deliver fresh bread and pastries for you each morning. An excellent base for walking or exploring in the Harz.

Actually, we didn't stay at the hotel. We reached there on the evening of 27.05.3023 while hiking. The hotel we booked had canceled the reservation. We came to the reception to ask for a room. unfortunately they did not have empty rooms. We needed a taxi to go to the hotel we found on the internet. The young lady at the reception called the taxi for us, asked the price and told us where we were going. He was very kind and helpful.

I travel a lot, but never have I ever had an experience this bad. I don't often write reviews (especially not whilst I still am at the place), but the service at this hotel is so bad. We haven't even been here for 24 hours and we've had so many negative experiences already. - If you don't have a view over the brocken, you'll have a noisy room next to a road and the parking lot. (requesting in advance apparently won't work. I requested a room with the brocken view months in advance, but didn't get it). - Any hotel I've been too (even the cheapest ones) had a chromecast/possibility to smart view). This tv just has german channels. - They weren't clear at all concerning breakfast. They sent us to the restaurant near for free breakfast, where we had to pay 42 euros for 2 pieces of bread and 2 eggs. Afterwards we went back to the reception and they just told us they couldn't do anything for us and that they were sorry. - Staff isn't helpful at all and the staff at the restaurant has the worst attitude I've ever seen. - Anywhere around you will have to drive by car and concerning restaurants you have to reserve far in advance. I would never recomment this hotel to anyone. It's way too expensive for what you get. I've stayed at hostels as well and most of them were 100x better than this hotel.

We had just completed a hard day of hiking and this was everything and more that we hoped for. Amazing view toward the Brocken, lovely staff and restaurant and the breakfast was fantastic. My only regret was not staying for longer.

Loved it here over Christmas, great walks, cosy cabin and a nice setting!

Nice cabins, each with a sauna. Very well done. Fireplace also, and the first box of wood comes with the room. Walking/hiking in unbelievably convenient, many options to choose from. Drawbacks: Breakfast is unbelievably priced at 18€ per person. The breakfast room looked pretty small, so unless they're making golden omelettes and bacon, I don't see that it could be worth it. No actual restaurant on-site. For dinner, you'll need to go to the Bavaria Alm in the parking lot. Good for the first couple of nights, but by the 4th night it gets repetitive.

Ideal place to jump down the hill, go trekking or Nordic walking in the surroundings. The area for sledding is especially visited by families and it has a good atmosphere for children.
