I have never experienced this in my entire life. I went to velvet dog because compared to Dive bar it is more inclusive diversity wise. I (a Latina) went to velvet dog with 4 white female friends and 1 Asian male friend. Half way through the night, 3 of my female friends were missing. A side note, we were placed (due to covid) on the second floor and earlier that night I had used the restroom on the first floor. I digress, 3 of my female friends were gone. So I leave my remaining friends and my first thought is to go to the restroom. The same one I had went to 1 hour ago. I go into the restroom and could not find my friends. As I make my way back towards the bottom of the stairs to go to where the rest of my friends were located, I encounter the bouncer. I quickly explain to him that my friend are upstairs and I just went to restroom. He proceeds to not believe me and deny my access to upstairs where my jacket, wallet, and friends were. I explain this to him 2 more times. He doesn’t believe me, claiming that there are restrooms upstairs and why didn’t I go up there... I still to this day don’t know if that’s true. I call my friend and I am visibly upset that I can’t get to my personal belongings. I try to reason with him again when the communication to my friend was unsuccessful due to the loud noise. The bouncer proceeds to yell at me and demand I exit the premises. Covid is still relevant and this man still proceeded to yell in my face. I refused to leave without my wallet and jacket. He then calls the security to escort me out. I explain to the security the situation. In which the security tells the bouncer to go get my stuff. Even though the bouncer didn’t believe it was up there in the first place. At this point, after been yelled for 10 min by a man that is 1 foot taller than me,I begin to sob uncontrollably, which is understandable taking account the circumstances. Within 10 min, the security asked me the full story, another worker at velvet dog asked me what is going, and they both attempted to get me help, they finally retrieved my friends and items. I left COMPLETELY DISTRAUGHT! I later asked my other 3 friends where they were and whether they received issues going back to their seats. In which one of them replied “no”. My advice is go to the bathroom with another person and take your personal belongings with you. The bouncer, or whatever he is, is not trustworthy. Also, I will be going back to speak to the manager, 1) apparently velvet dog has had two stiles because they have failed to follow covid restriction 2) the bouncers behavior is extremely toxic, and as woman, being kick out of a place without her belongings is dangerous.

The bartender, Linda was an absolute gem. She truly has customer service at the forefront of her mind. The bouncers on the other hand, all they care about is power. I was dancing with my boyfriend on the stage and was asked by one of the bouncers if that was my man. I said yes and he proceeded to shake his head no and say, “pshhh, you can do better than that”, and then walked away. Shortly after that, my boyfriend was in the bathroom washing his hands when a bouncer came and escorted him out of the bar. This left me inside a bar in Cleveland, Ohio all alone. And on top of it, my boyfriend was so disrespected for absolutely NO reason. I have come here MANY times, but will NOT return nor will I recommend this bar to anyone.

I went both nights. Ray-Ray was awesome on the inside bar on Saturday. Great person to talk to and get red bull from. She def made it an enjoyable evening. I really love this place the vibe the music, regardless of how busy it is.

Worst customer service! I wonder if the owner knew that they hired a bouncer that harasses their customers. Maybe they thought being intimidating was the only requirement, they should’ve hired someone with the ability to think. If a customer is telling you repeatedly that their stuff is upstairs, the smart thing to do is to go and check. However the bouncer instead decided to yell within inches of her face. I wonder if that’s going against the regulations for Covid.

New Year’s Eve was NOT what we expected !! We paid Over $100 per ticket for VIP and had to stand in line in the cold while they let people who were paying regular cover in first…. Very frustrating!!! The music was terrible!!! They played a few songs you could dance to but the rest of the time they played the worst songs!!!! We even requested a free songs and the DJ said it would “mess up his dance floor” which cleared out a few minutes later. VIP got a wrist band to get drinks but you weren’t able to get drinks on the first floor which made no sense! Other times we have been there it has been ok but this was a huge disappointment!!

Came here for “Ladies’ Night” with my best friend and we had an awesome time! The bartenders were so nice! I drank three tequila sunrises and was bouncing off the walls all night!

Always a great time. Great music and the staff always takes real good care of us. Very friendly and clean.

It's still impressive this place is still rolling!! It's got to be 20 years now in business. I know it's not easy downtown with all the competition.

This place over charges on your credit card. I purchased shots which is worth $20 and I added a $2 tip, which made it $22 but they charged me $42. This is more like stealing and I don’t appreciate this at all.

Best Bar on West 6 in Cleveland hands down. The staff is all about keeping everyone safe while having a great time. Security makes sure that nothing gets out of hand and handles situations quickly before it escalates. Would 10/10 recommend this bar for anyone visiting Cleveland, especially during the summer on their rooftop bar. Also, their bottle service packages can’t be beat.

Had a small shindig with 29 of my pals to celebrate the end of the academic year, my friend and my birthday’s. Everyone on the staff ranging from the AGM (Georgina) to the Bottle Service Girls working that night went above and beyond to make our night as lit and memorable as possible. The AGM was exceptional, and everything that we had pre-arranged with her was efficiently conveyed to the staff working that night. I would highly recommend this establishment for any private party and partying get-togethers. I will certainly be back based on my experience and having had my party here, I will be recommending this place to my friends/family!

My friend was dancing on the stage leaned over the side to talk to his girlfriend, who’s birthday we were all out celebrating and the bouncer just kicked him out immediately. I agree he shouldn’t have done that but he could’ve at least gave him a warning. There was a party of about 25 of us and we had to scramble to get everyone together and left to go to Barley. The bartender provided great service though. I feel for her because she lost out. Oh well.

We reserved a rooftop cabana for our friend’s birthday. Marie was friendly, accommodating, and made the entire process easy. The entire staff was great, making sure we had everything we needed to enjoy the night. They even made sure to bring drinks right at midnight to celebrate the birthday girl. We had a great time and I would definitely recommend for your next birthday celebration.

Paid over $100 dollars for a vip pass for New Years. Could get in if they only let certain people in before others (who paid $30). Putting priority over $30 covers rather than the vip pass. Terrible service!! Never again!

A Clevelander hotspot I don't think so it's just a club there's no food service also the majority of bar staff doesn't know how to make drinks and not very nice restroom attendants I would skip this one

Fun time, fun bartenders, and super sweet bathroom attendant but BRING CASH I woke up to 3 extra credit card charges the morning after. I sent an email and someone did reach out but my bank has already authorized the disputes.

EPIC after party! Georgina is the best! All the bartenders were amazing and the security is top notch!

pretty good vibe! there’s lots of a room to spread out and service for drinks is quick. the rooftop bar is so nice and felt so nice on a good night. music wasn’t amazing but people were still moving and you can make the best of it. i have a feeling it changes depending on the dj so i’ll definitely have to come back another night

I am so glad Velvet Dog is able to stay open during COVID 19! Not only are the cocktails amazing but the staff always goes above and beyond with customer service. Each time I have gone social distancing measures have been in place, staff is wearing masks and I felt safe being there. I highly recommend checking it out!

Absolute rude and nasty bar tender named Rebekah. Literally is disgustingly condescending to the customers and drinks non stop on the job.
