The night before check-in, we received an email with the codes to extract the keys from a dropbox.  When first arriving in front of the building located conveniently on the market square, I went into the bakery thinking the dropbox was inside.  I couldn’t see a dropbox while standing outside. The lady behind the counter explained the dropbox was behind the large wooden door in the hallway!  After entering the codes, we had our keys. We opened the main door which had a short hallway leading to the stairs. This hallway reeked of stale beer.  The smell was gone once we reached the first floor. Once arriving at our rooms after 55 steps and no elevator (remember to pack light!), we couldn’t help to feel this really isn’t a hotel.  Instead it felt more like a Pension or a Hostel.  Our expectations were for more of a traditional hotel. The stay was very impersonable.  There was no one in the building representing this business.  The room above us had a person (possibility a child) constantly running back and forth, making noise until 23:00 for our entire stay.  With the building being very old, there are indications the hotel needs some “Tender Loving Care”.  For breakfast, we ate at an excellent cafe: Cafe Feiler on Theaterpl. 5 which is a 5 to 8 minute walk. A Concerning Side Note: the ceiling in room 32 has a noticeable crack running parallel to the window!

Freundliche Housekeeping-Dame, leider hat das Familienzimmer nicht unseren Wünschen entsprochen. Das Bett hat extrem laut gequietsch, die Badezimmertür konnte man nicht schließen und das Schloss hing raus.

Nice place but a bit expensive, as I think Coburg is. I liked room and friendliness of the owner, but disliked that WIFI didn’t worked and I find staircases and entrance in a bad condition for one hotel.

very aged hotel. cleaning staff is perfect and gentle. the management (mrs hammerling) on the contrary is very rude un professional and will not even try to solve any problem. there are better structure at lower fares in the city. highly not recommended.

Amazing hotel, I arrived late and had some troubles with my internet connection, which made the communication a bit hard, but the host stayed incredibly nice and helpful! The location is absolutely perfect and the room and bathroom were nice and clean and both bigger than expected!

Wir sind am Sonntag den 18.6.2023 in Coburg angereist, um das Konzert von Peter Maffay zu besuchen. Hierzu buchten wir im Vorfeld ein Hotelzimmer im besagten Hotel. Das Hotel selber ist älterer Bauart. Unser Zimmer war mit dem Nötigsten ausgestattet. Unsere Getränke hatten wir selber mitgebracht, was gut war. Unser Bad war mit einer Dusche ausgestattet. Es gab ein Fernseher und WLAN. Für unseren Zweck des nur Übernachtens war es okay.

Sehr zentrale Lage. Ggf. etwas zu zentral - durch die Hellhörigkeit der Fenster bzw. wenn diese geöffnet sind (Sommer/keine Klimaanlage) bekommt alles Treiben auf & am Markt mit, auch Nachts. Parken im öffentlichen Parkhaus möglich, keine 500m Fußweg. Unser Zimmer war grundsätzlich ordentlich, geräumig und mit allem ausgestattet, was man benötigt. Schaut man jedoch genauer hin, ist der Zustand eher unterdurchschnittlich. Zum Beispiel Staub in allen Ecken, kaputte Rollos, kaputte Armaturen und Fliesen im Bad. Für ein paar Nächte OK.

Stayed in Coburg for one night, and The Square Hotel was a good choice for us. It's directly in the city center, you can walk to just about any major location in town, including the Veste Coburg with a thirty min walk. Our room was on the third floor, very tidy, and spacious with  a small kitchen inside. Our view looked out  over the courtyard. Breakfast is not served, but you can make your own or enjoy one in a nearby Cafe. The instruction to collect the keys were clear and detailed. No problem to get in. Recommended, just consider that there is no elevator in the building.

Located in the center, I was booked it in the very last minute via phone, and it was raining heavily. The owner was so generous, she accepted my booking even it was already 23:30! Thank god I have place to stay in Coburg. Lovely and clean suite and nice atmosphere, highly recommended!!!!!

Perfect location on the main square. Some stairs to climb to the room on the top floor, so be aware if you are not fit for this. Old building which might up for refurbishing, but ok for a night.

Our room had a Window towards the market square and the overall flare of the hotel was just great. Worth mentioning is also the small kitchen on every floor, which is free to use for all guests.

We had an apartment on the third floor. It was spacious: a bedroom and a kitchen. All quite basic and in need of an update. View on a quiet street, which was good for sleeping. Very friendly owners and great to sleep in a building with so much history. Some safety issues: there is a dangerous step up between bedroom and kitchen. I almost tripped over it. Maybe place a warning sticker on the floor. The hairdryer was stored on the cistern of the toilet where it could easily fall in the toilet. The sink in the bathroom was very small and low, so I was happy with the kitchen to brush my teeth. There was a water cooker, but no tea bags, just coffee.

The hotel is really comfortable, always clean and organized, the best feature is definitely the kitchen, which is quite convenient for a longer stay.

Easy check in via key safe and great location right at the square. Had 2 rooms with kitchen so great for a short break with the family.

Great location with large rooms. Contactless entry during covid. Parking is a few blocks away but this is the perfect location to stay at in Coburg.
