The service is horrible. The management is very arrogant when we complain. The staff members are very unfriendly and are always angry. Their food is the worst, horrible and not for human consumption. I would not recommend their place to any one.. it has been a nightmare. You can't even complain as your concerns will not be attended to they will rather be defensive and arrogant.

Restaurant service was very efficient. The room had a high-quality bed with decent pillows that ensured a good night's sleep, and the shower had warm water. Definitely on our list as a sleepover between Gauteng and the Western Cape

We stopped over in March, paid 750 for the night for a very small room, no door to courtyard. Most of the ceiling was stained with brown spots from water damaged, wet smell was terrible. Surely when.you book in advance you check if the rooms are presentable and in order. At least got my money back but that's not the point, I drove on to find alternative accommodation that night for same price twice the size.

Absolutely horrendous service!!!! My husband and I booked and paid weeks in advance and our room was given away despite multiple confirmations and invoices and receipt of payment and booking. Upon arrival we were simply told to find another place to stay. NO apology or attempt to assist with other accommodation at 2am after a very long journey!! We were left to deal with an unpleasant, arrogant and cold manager who only showed a bit of compassion once we started to record the horrible encounter. Will never stay here again and we have made sure to alert ALL family friends to seek other accommodation for the long road. Such a disappointment as this place could be so much better.

A pleasant surprise for us, the outside would turn you off, but the rooms are kitted out like any 4 star hotel around the country. The food freshly prepared and delicious. A very affordable stop over on a long trip or for overnight.

What a beautiful place. Awesome stay! We drive this road just to stay! You feel like family when visiting. Recommended to all!

The service we received was the best, loved the fact that we could watch animals at anytime. It has a beautiful park for children to play in so if you need a place that is children friendly . This is your place.

They are professional and good sense of humor. The waitress was excellent and went beyond her duty to satisfy. Thank you very much.

Great little stop off would be better if it had better lighting around the facility. And the roomsnarebery average. Motel like. Otherwise all was good. Half way stay from Johannesburg to Cape Town

I booked my wife and daughter into Merino Inn as an emergency after they had a terrible car accident outside of Colesberg. The friendly staff accommodated us in every way and helped lessen the trauma with a great meal and warm bed. Thank you for accommodating my family whilst they waited for me to collect them.

While the place is nice enough, the Pet friendly advertised is misleading. One would assume that there will be an enclosed space to let dogs off. However there is no such thing. The rooms don't have private sections attached nor is the communal area properly enclosed. I was assured by the receptionist that i could let my dogs off in the garden area by the pool. While walking my dogs around the property, found a massive open gate for cars to drive rove in and out of the adjoining petrol station so no, it is not safe for pets.

My 3rd overnight there. 1st was good. Minor discrepancies. Last stay. Urgh. Aircon not working in SUMMER. Breakfast, no milk. 20 mins. after my order still no milk. For those who is on vacation ,can bare the summer heat and like black coffee, you'll have a blast

The rooms are nice and clean, the price is good and location perfect for a stopover. The only downside was the Karoo lamb chops I ordered in the restaurant, we're extremely tough. Very disappointed.

For R1300 we thought that we got the newly renovated room. Instead we got cockeroaches, broken toilet seat, x4 wifi vouchers BUT the wifi was disconnected. In our room, coffee and tea with no milk, which we had to PAY for again. Multiple rooms open but 8;40pm they chose to put someone right next to us,with just a door separating us. Hearing absolutely EVERYTHING even when he uses the bathroom. For R1300 this is a RIPOFF

Location easier to find but Google Maps makes is tricky when you from engen garage. The family room is spacious and very suitable for family overnight stay. Kid friendly play area.

Fabulous staff and service. Bianca at reception was especially helpful, informative and carried a very positive view of the hotel and linked businesses. We immediately booked another stay.

Very poor and the worst service experience of my life. Even with and advanced booking and payment and confirmation they will give your room to someone else if someone else shows up before you and you will be left no place to book. You CANNOT rely on a booking at Merino inn. They will refund you and tell you they do not have rooms available as they did with me at 12am in the morning after I booked 3 weeks in advance and even phoned to confirm the day before my stay. I would not recommend them to anyone after a long drive as you might have to drive straight to your destination or sleep in your car and have a stressful restless night. They will give you a R100 compensation for the inconvenience and send you on your way. Do not book here especially if you want your family to have a rested stress free overnight stay!

This was unfortunatly the second time we stayed in Block E. Last night no hot water not even Luke warm. This morning at 6am no hot water, posponed our leaving time to wait for hot water as my youngest daughter is sick and using suppositries which requires her to bath no hot water by 8 am this morbing. The wifi also did not work on 3 phones. Kept throqing the internet off. For R1450 I would expect better accomidation.

I am really disappointed in Merino Inn. I attended their fathers day lunch, it was absolutely shocking what was served. Chargo is advertising that they are the trusting brand and then they serve food that is totally unacceptable. If you spend R1 200 for 4 people, you do hope to receive decent food. Unfortunately I will not support any of their events again.

We did not stay, but opted to attend their Father's Day lunch. What a disaster! We were only 5 tables, but they ran out of starters. We ordered the wrapped chicken fillets (x2) that were RAW & my fillet steak was not medium rare, but BLOOD RARE. Our waitress did not visit our table for drinks orders & we had to go in search of her to place our orders. We live in the district & really want to support our local restaurants, but this has just made us change our minds.

I was awoken by an unknown man entering my room (unannounced, he was not room service/maintenance or management) with a key searching for my personal belongings on the table by the door. When I spoke to him he ran out locking the door again. I tried to discuss this incident with Management but to no avail. If you do decide to stay over, lock your door and put the chain on. Keep all your belongings close to you and locked away.

The accommodation was great! The Dinner was terrible! The Chicken cordon Blu was as old as rocks! VEGETABLES WERE GREAT! The sheep "skenkel " was so small for R220.00. You are charging alot! Or your staff is eating off it.

It is open for booking 24/7 with near perfect location however, the service both at 11.30pm (checkin) and 8.10am (checkout) was cold and inconsiderate so if you are aiming to checkin around these times, expect to deal with your own problems. If it's rained within 12 hours, chose a different place as a room here requires trekking through wet and mushy grass for about 3 mins. Imagine carrying all your bags by yourself in the dark, slipping and sliding while the receptionist (the only employee there) very clearly did not want to offer any help even to open the door for us. She would have rather left us to fiddle with the keys in the dark trying to hold all our bags up and away from the wet ground if we didn't kick up a fuss. Our shoes were soaked with no facilities to even attempt to dry them. There's no mat outside the room and the tiled floors were so cold that we were forced to track mud in to keep our shoes on. There was loadshedding 2 hours before we were scheduled to checkout - there is a generator but for whatever reason, it was not functioning so we had to get on the road with flat phones and cold showers during winter. The employees at reception brushed off our complaint. they give 500mb or 750mb capped WiFi vouchers (given at reception only after I asked, one voucher per person per night) so don't expect an uncapped connection. In conclusion, cold service (literally and figuratively) and very inconvenient for their target demographic (people travelling down the N1)

Great location, rooms very basic but clean and tidy. Really big plus are the on-site facilities. Restaurant food was wholesome and very big portions. Will stay here again.

👍👍 The best stopover between Pretoria and Plettenberg if you have dogs. 35km South of Colesberg on a sheep/ game farm. Only about 1.5 km of gravel road to the Lodge.
