Delicious food. Friendly staff. But the manager/owner was very rude which makes me not to visit again. This sort behavior is an impact on the great Saravana Bhavan chain. One star is only because of the manager else the restaurant is worth 5 star.

Sorry to give for the excellent food quality only 3 star in total. The service is friendly but very slow. The foods got cold until you get the next request done. Update 21.10.23 No Improvment in Service. You can ask 3 people for something (Sambhar). Nobody listens. FOOK still good

Postive: The food is delicious. It does taste like authentic Indian food. We ended up ordering nearly 100 euros food because of good taste. Negative: The aged manager has no sense of handling customers. Very impolite. He was talking using fingers like we went to ask food for free. We experienced this 4 times so far. If we will have other good options then we will not visit this outlet. Higher management should look into it.

Great delicious vegan option ! Price is reasonable and the food is quite awesome. Taste for the northern platter is awesome as well as the e big puffy bread that has cheese baked into it. So wonderful that dish i recommend it if you’re coming to try this restaurant

Nice place to have for Vegetarian dishes/meals with friends and family. Authentic South Indian dishes with almost no compromise on taste. A little expensive but worth the money. Kid friendly with high chair availablity. There's also wheelchair accessible entrance. Both sit-out and in-house sitting options are available. A little humid and warm during Summers to sit inside but manageable. Both dine in and take away options are available. Very friendly service and kind waiters.

Simply top class, in terms of taste, location, service, and price. I enjoyed the Mysore Masala Dosa, whereas my wife enjoyed the delicious Chole Bhature. Our server, Mr Mithun, was really nice, friendly, and helpful and enjoyed a true authentic South Indian taste. Highly recommended

Heumarkt is nice lively place full of tourists, the numbers should not fool you for the taste. Saravanaa Bhavan continues to disappoint with tasteless food. They lost the authentic taste as we are not foreigners who could be OK with whatever ..

Visited this restaurant as we usually like eating in Saravana Bhanvan. Ordered special meal, mini idly, sambhar vada, dahi vada, filter coffee. I would rate my experience as follows: Food : 3.5/5. Vada sambhar and mini idlies were good. But special meals didn't meet up to the expectations Ambiance : 3/5. Staff: 4/5. Well behaved and kind Toilet : 4/5. Clean Seating: 4/5. Outdoor and indoor. Spacious Overall experience : 3.5/5

A wonderful place for authentic South Indian cuisine! The prices are reasonable, and the taste is definitely worth it. Everything is served hot and fresh, and the staff are helpful and patient, even if you want to customize your order. They accept card payments, and the place is easily accessible by tram. We went in a big group, and without reservation, and yet everyone was taken care of properly. I highly recommend Saravanaa Bhavan to anyone looking for a delicious and affordable South Indian meal!

A wide variety of menu selection, but unfortunately service is too slow. You need to constantly remind of follow up order. We did not get an item till very end, but was added to our bill. If you really want good service, visit on weekdays. Also the food somehow made us too fuller than expected.

The staff are very friendly and the ambience is comfortable. It is always heavily packed so people seem to be enjoying a food a lot. Personally I feel it was okay because the dose wasn't crispy as much and the flavour profile was quite mediocre too. All in all a good place to visit if you're craving Indian food a lot.

Wada sambar is the best. Rava Dosa was very stomach filling and good but a little oily too. Califlower manchurian was just tasting more of ketchup. South Indian thali not at all worth the price.

There are a lot of options for vegetarians. I started with special milk tea. To be honest, it's aromatic and lacks taste. I still need to try Mango lassi and filter coffee, maybe next time. Then I tried masala dosa. it's extremely good and a must try dish here. Then vada and idli separately. Authentic taste 😋 I personally like the sambar, which was included in the dishes.

The food was absolutely delicious. The service was fast and professional. The Restaurant was Sooo hot and air circulation inside the Restaurant is very low. You could always take a table outside the Restaurant, so it is fine. Dosa (Mysore masala dosa), mini idlies and channa bhatura are the best in my opinion. Filter coffee is okay Mango lassie is yummy.

Excellent South Indian Restaurant in Cologne (Köln). A wide range of authentic south Indian delicacies are available at reasonable prices. Decent ambience indoors and the restaurant can easily cater upto around 50 persons in full occupancy. The South Indian thali is a speciality and is highly recommended. A pleasurable experience with hospitable and friendly staff to boost.

Perfectly located and ideal when we were visiting the Christmas market. The staff were quick to respond and accommodate us since it was fully packed. As usual the menu is authentic and promising quality. Nice ambience and interior, except the fact that the wooden flooring was quite slippery like an ice rink, almost everyone had to skate through to their seats!

If you want to taste authentic South Indian food in Cologne, this is your place. You will feel like you are eating in India. You must try paper masala dosa here… it’s very huge and crunchy. Overall was a good restaurant, with tasty food. We tried Poori served with Veg Kurma and Aloo; Mango Lassi which is pre-made; and Milgaipudi Dosa served with coconut tomato and mint chutney and sambar. Sambar specifically was very tasty 😋 Dosa with Milgaipudi was also very yum! Would recommend this place if you are looking for a good South Indian food experience. Staff are not particularly unfriendly but can live with it! Experience would be better if staff are more friendly and know their menu better! Toilets are clean as well.

The food was okay. The Chole bhatura came with very less chole. The bhatura was very oily as well, as if the oil was not drained at all. It came with a small salad bowl which was just for namesake. The masala dosa was average and too oily. Mango lassi was good.

Definitely recommend this place if you are in search of a good South Indian restaurant. I totally went back to south india once I had the dosa here.

It was Christmas Eve and my wife and I had given up reservations at another restaurant because we didn’t think we were hungry. After walking around for a bit and then deciding we were hungry we came across this place and they sat us right away even with it being super busy. The menu is very extensive. I have spend some time in India so my wife asked me to just order for us. I ordered a few different dishes and everything came out super fast, super hot and amazing! The Dosa and curries were all full of flavor and what we thought was going to be to much food we made disappear because it was just that good. With all of that being so good we had to give their desserts a try. We tried the Rava Kesari, and it was fantastic. We were pleasantly surprised with everything and this will be a spot we continue to go to every time we are here.

Visited this restaurant for the first time. Liked the ambience and the food. Very delicious and authentic. Interesting to see, that the menu offers not only North Indian dishes, but also specialities from the South Indian region. Good place to go. Friendly staff as well. A place to go.

This is a nice Indian restaurant with very nice Food at good price in Germany. Food portion is good size. South Indian food was very good. North indian food was average if I compare to India but if I compare to germany, Then it was very good. If you are visiting cologne cathedral, then it is very good place to hangout in lunch and dinner.

Located in Central area where many other restaurants are opened....walking distance from public transport. Ambience is good and new, staff is also nice, we found service was really fast. The best to try out are Dosas of any types. Mango Lassi and Butter milk are tasty too....

Superb food ... We ordered North Indian thali we loved it ... Masala dosa was crispy but little cold n samabhar was yummy n Puri was also good ... Tea was served little cold ... But they were really quick in service n it was Sunday too crowded but they could manage place for us n food on time ... Kudos to team ... They sitting area inside and outside too ...

This is the first time I visited Saravanan Bhavan with no expectations, and I must admit I’m super satisfied. Food was delicious, service was good and also the environment was quite lively. Worth the money 💰 Keep up the good work 👍🏻

Pretty central easy to reach, for those missing the Dosa and south Indian food. Although the coconut chutney was a bit stale. Good service and OK pricing -update was great food this time though took a while

The go-to place for dosas in Europe. My Indian friends all approve of it. The paneer dosa is my personal favorite. The madras coffee is a must-try also.

Authentic south-Indian taste at a vibrant location. I tried masala dosa and they did pure justice with it. Sambhar was too good and even the sauces (chutney) were nice. They had many-many options. Must try if looking for vegetarian food in town. 10-12 minutes walk from the central station & cathedral.

Authentic indian food, reasonable prices. We ordered chapatis and curry and filter coffee. The taste was spot on with medium_low spices. Overall great.

We were pleasantly surprised to come across this South Indian restaurant, which is not easy to find in Netherlands! Would have preferred to have the starters served first and not together with the main meal. Food served was hot and fresh. Delicious! 👍
