The theater "Der Keller" is housed in a former factory hall, but unfortunately lacks any charm. It is also quite cold during the pandemic. Access via the foyer of the dance academy is annoying because it leads across the courtyard and there is standing time outside. But the performance of “The Magic Mountain” completely reconciled me with these circumstances. A minimalist stage design, reduced costumes and sparse musical accompaniment made the excellent performance of the young actors clear. The basis of the “Magic Mountain” was worked out in a very modern form. This was a play for people who are ready to leave usual forms of theater. I really liked it, but watching it was sometimes quite tiring and required some thinking.

Here I have to differentiate between theater location and acting. The play itself was excellent, the actors were brilliant! But the hall is excessively full. Your knees hit the seat in front, the search for a seat is tiring and the ticket sales on site have not been thought through. There doesn't seem to be an exact number of tickets sold, but rather tickets will be sold as long as there are open spots visible. If someone arrives on time for the start with a ticket from the advance sale, in the worst case scenario they will no longer have a seat. The one toilet per gender for an audience of over 100 people is also very optimistic. Things can be solved better here, even if the staff on site seem to be trying hard.

Today I was at the Keller Theater and watched the play “The Sweet Desperation”. It was an incredibly great piece and tears often ran down my cheeks! The four actors were very touching and rousing! I had forgotten how much I love the theater and the group today reminded me of it. Now I would like to go to the theater more often again. Bravo to the four! See you next time! ☺️

The piece (Transit) was interestingly implemented. I don't trust myself to objectively evaluate the acting performance, but personally I thought it was good. Taking up the Corona topic seemed rather out of place and didn't really fit into the piece. It was similar with the processing of the refugee situation in Germany. We asked ourselves why the topic is presented if it only happens so casually. The hall was a bit cold, depending on where you sat. Overall, despite all the criticism, the visit was worth it and we will certainly come back.

Nice venue with good and committed actors. Unfortunately, the air conditioning was broken or set too low, which limited the enjoyment of the spectacle. Hopefully the move will solve this problem. Otherwise a highly recommended place!

A private theater. Searched several times for a permanent venue. Now staying with other cultural workers. In this effort to be able to play at all, not as saturated as the official Cologne. And you can feel that. Great house.

Small theater with an even smaller stage. The structure of the theater hall is slightly narrow and tube-like, which gives the whole thing a familiar, cozy atmosphere. Perfect for chamber plays. The employees are very friendly and accommodating, the rooms are clean and the prices for entry and food are absolutely fair. Clear recommendation
