Located on the 2nd floor of the Mövenpick hotel. It's cozy atmosphere provides the perfect ambiance to have a fine dining experience. Their menu consists of a wide range of authentic Japanese delicacies that are cooked to perfection. They are freshly prepared, and very well presented. Staff is friendly, helpful and provides an efficient service. Most of the items in the menu seems a little overpriced, however the overall experience is worth the cost. Special thanks to our server Mr. Dayanga, who was very much attentive and provided an excellent customer service. よくがんばったね！

Very cool design, very cozy atmosphere and above average food serves here. They do offer a lot of set menu for you to choose from and the orice is not that expensive. Service wise, the attitude is very sincere and patient, but the food served quite lately. A simple bento caused to be waited for 20 minutes. But I understand I am in Colombo and running a Japanese restaurant, it is not easy honestly. I will come again for sure. Second time when I came here, they add on more and more variety of Asian food, like Korean Bulgogi and Pad Thai, which are quite delicious.

Tried out their Thai for the first time. Service was really quick and the food was quite good. They have a Thai chef who was previously working at Cinnamon Lakeside Royal Thai. We tried the wok fried duck which was succulent and the red curry beef was flavorful and spicy. The larb was a little salty. Portion sizes were really good. Roughly 5k pp.

Perfect place for a dinner out. Reasonable prices. Lovely atmosphere. We tried Chicken Pad Thai, Laksa Lemak & Singapore Noodles as mains. Love their food. Really yummy! They have 2 sizes for many dishes Regular and Large. Regular portion is enough for a person. Drinks and liquor are little expensive comparing with the food prices. Highly recommended!

Perfect place for a dinner out. Love the ambiance and what they have done with the place. They have Chinese, Japanese and even Malaysian food varieties. Love their fusion variety. Decent pricing for food but the mocktails are overpriced. Moderate taste (they mainly target foreigners). Quick service good and friendly staff. Clean bathrooms No much vegetarian options but you can talk to the chef and work something out. Food was prepared fresh and they do present it nicely. Try their acharu mocktail, Something new. Fried rice is sticky and tasted funny. From what i heard the beef was overcooked but the chicken options we tried are heavenly. Veg spring rolls were ok, but they had noodles in they.. not a big fan..

We had a Pad That. It tasted ok as a noodle dish, but it tasted nothing like a Pad Thai. Meaning it was not an authentic Pad Thai. Even the Pork Ribs we ordered were flavourless. Out of the drinks, the Blonde tasted the best. Mojitos were also good. We didn't like the Achcharu inspired drink. Green Tea Creme Brulee and ice cream were good. Food price was ok. However, as we didn't like the taste and quality, we felt that the value for money was low. All in all, it was a good experience, but we are not crazy about the food.

Had an amazing lunch at Robata Grill and Lounge. The restaurant is based on the 2nd floor of the Movenpick Hotel. Excellent staff service, great ambience and delicious food. We tried the Ribs, prawn Dumplings, Pad Thai, Black pepper Pork, Nasi goreng & Hot butter cuttlefish. All dishes tasted great and portions were quite large. And we had the famous Movenpick ice-cream for dessert. A no brainer selection. Tired the Mint Choco, Caramel & Swiss Chocolate. All three were yummy. Value for money. Good for lunch and Dinner. Reservations encouraged!!

To start off, we were not even greeted at the door. This was our first time here and we didn't know where anything was. We had to wander in quite a distance when a waiter , mind you with no smile nor an expression of being sorry for the inconvenience showed us to our seat. We ordered our meal, which took an absolutely long time to even come to us. Mind you this place was almost empty and we couldn't even understand why such a delay took place. While waiting for the meal, we could hear the conversations of customers located quite far from us, as well as waiters shouting orders to chefs and vice versa. There was hardly any background music. The ambiance they had tried to set with the lighting was completely ruined by the sounds we heard. At one point they were even confused as to who ordered what dish and we could hear them discussing among themselves as to which customer might have ordered what. I'm sure this is a normal occurrence for someone to forget an order, but why be in ear shot of the customer when u discuss this. Lastly, the food itself was not great. For a restaurant that boasts about its asian cuisine. They didn't do a good job. The waiter didn't even smile or was pleasant at all. This was our anniversary dinner, and safe to say they ruined the night for us. They did give us a cake because of the special day, unfortunately it scarcely made up for the damage done. I must add that the sushi we ordered was quite delicious, there was ample parking in the basement and the toilets were quite clean. Other than that it was not a pleasant experience at all. I hope these problems would be addressed and sorted out asap.

The food was amazing as was the staff. I only took a picture of my starter but the main meal (chicken with cashewnuts and Thai rice) was excellent. My friend ordered the Phad Thai, which was flavoured so well. Presentations was interesting becuase the spices, peanuts and the sprouts were kept for the diner to mix as they liked. I'd say one dish is enough for two people. Mama Thai was lovely and so friendly.

I dont recommend this place to anyone in future, Last year i visited the Aditya restaurant here and again this time in middle of December we went, the first time was great, the food was of good quality and the quantity of the food also were very much enough for a person. This year when we went, we ordered the "mutton thalli and Chicken Thalli", the portions were very small, ridiculous and not upto a good standard. We had stomachaches after this. They gave us a complimentary pani-puri which was nice. But the thalli had 7 very thin and small pieces of parata which could have been blown away by the fan. And about 10 table spoons of rice along with 5 different curries to drink after eating the rice. Some of the curries were very old and could not be eaten. Both my mother and grandfather couldn't eat it. I don't recommend this place to anyone. Please save your money and eat at some other place.

The BEST Dining experience in Colombo for Thai and Japanese cuisine at Robata Grill. Mr Dinesh the Duty manager was very kind and very helpful to make a reservation at Robata Grill for a family lunch for 7pax on the 12th of August and it was a private dining room. we must Thank the two chefs who made the delicious dishes for us which are Chef Mama ( Thai cuisine in charge) and the Japanese cuisine chef ( I can’t recall his name) they both were very patient and was assisting us to order the best for our lunch menu and explaining us the way it’s been prepared and the spices that’s been used for the dish. We shouldn’t forget the staff who served us on that day where they were very friendly and pleasant. If you want to have a quiet Asian cuisine family meal then the best place is Robata Grill @ Movenpick Colombo

Service took a while. The waiting staff seemed distracted. Ordered the Thai green curry which was overwhelmingly spicy/hot even for a local's palate and the Indian food tasted quite bland and greasy. Ambience was okay. Overall, a below average dining experience.

Robata Grill is a South Asian Fusion restaurant that tantalizes your taste buds with Indonesian, Chinese, Korean, Japanese,Thai and Vietnamese cuisines. Their Szechuan shrimps and the seafood nasi goreng are the hot sellers I would say. Best place for a family dinner or a dinner date at their private cubicle style interior.

Their food is amazing, the sushi is mouthwatering and surprisingly not that expensive. Bit they charge 300 RS for a bottle of water so be warned.

My partner and I had the worst experience. We went for date night and had our night completely ruined. Mind you this was a Monday that we had gone and the only tables were us and another table with guests of over 07. We had to wait more than an hour for just for our appetisers and drinks (even though my partner ordered a very simple drink, not even a cocktail or juice) and I had requested for water. They had gotten our appetisers wrong and on top of it, the staff didn't even bother to rectify the wrongs and had a horrible attitude. Never coming back here again. We left without food or proper service that night.

"The old Robata Grill has got an upgrade in 2022, adding Thai cuisine to its menu. However, the meal options in general are limited in my opinion and could have been better. Taste-wise, the food is good but nothing exceptional and whether they're worth the price is a concern, especially when compared with other Japanese and Thai restaurants available in and around Colombo. Portion sizes are generous and quite filling, though. Drinks menu is also limited when it comes to non-alcoholic beverages, which is a drawback. Fruit juice etc. are average in terms of taste. The ambience of the place is good with a very casual yet elegant setup. With the black and red theme, it gives the vibe of a discreet and reserved space. The service is quick and efficient and the staff is very courteous, attentive and helpful. Recommended for private dining n small group gatherings."

The service was top notch from the point i entered the restaurant till i leave. Special thanks to thai mama, her food was fantastic, i had the prawn red curry and it was mind blowingly good. The overall ambience of the restaurnt is really nice and i really enjoyed my lunch. Once again special thanks to the robata staff and the chefs. I will come here again for sure. I celebrated two of my birthdays at the Robata Grill and Lounge. The food is that Fabulous. It is one of our favorite family restaurants to dine, because of the authenticity of the food. If you want to have an authentic Asian / Japanese meal, the place you need to visit is the Robata Grill and Lounge. The food is affordable! A couple can enjoy a good meal for 6000 LKR, and feel full & satisfied. The staff is so nice & efficient. The ambiance is just perfect for any occasion. I will absolutely recommend this restaurant.
