I booked a tour via your centre and was organised by one of your workers (Thushara Pradeep). I proved feedback of the unprofessional behaviour of my driver however have not received a response. I was actually in a very dangerous situation based on the behaviours of the driver and have already provided the following feedback: The guide drove like a maniac with a lot of near missed head on collisions. He was constantly driving on the wrong side of the road, overtaking on corners with oncoming traffic and tooting his horn at people. I think he actually hit a dog on the return trip as I heard it yelp. I did not feel at all safe in the car with him and as a result asked to return to Colombo early. Although I paid for transport, the driver wanted me to pay an extra 300 rupees to use the highway. However I refused and on the way back he avoided the highway due to this cost. We arrived at the elephant sanctuary late and therefore only saw the elephants for ten minutes. When mentioning that I wanted to stop for lunch he didn’t seem to understand this and took me to a herbal medicine place that I had no interest in and had not even mentioned. He advised me that I would need to hire trousers at the tooth temple for about 200 rupees, however I had to buy trousers for 800 rupees. I made sure I was ready for pick-up by 6.15am as requested yet the driver did not arrive until 7am. It was a very unpleasant day and I wish I had gone through a more formal and professional travel agent as I don’t believe the driver or Thushara had any training within tourism. Regards, Paul

I had very bad experiences today with inefficient staff in finance department for TOURISAM DEVELOPMENT LICENSE RENEWAL for tourist hotel.. Officers are so busy and so authorized to show all their powers to the clients who come for service. With this this modern technology you need to change the systems. Also please educate staff for effective service if they you are really concern to Develop the tourisam other than Discurragements. (Finally I had to go upto the Director Finance of Standard and Quality Assuarance Division to get the matter shortout. Big Thanks to him.)

I have tried to contact someone to get an information in here but the person who is answering the hotline either has no idea about what he is doing or he doesn't know english. He tapped his fingers on the desk and made a sound and just hung up the phone. If this is the way of tourism development authority people are behaving I felt really sorry for our tourism industry.

I contacted the officer Upali Rathnayake to inquire about the fuel assistance for the tourist. He's unprofessional and not very helpul at all. It's really disappointing to see people like this has been appointed for Sri Lanka's tourism industry which brings income to Sri Lanka.

I am very disappointed with their service , 5 months have elapsed since the dawn of 2023, & I am still waiting for the SLTDA license for the year 2023. . Having got the clearance from the TDL department , following the payment of due taxes, I still could not proceed further , Their online registration scheme does not work. No one answered to my emails or to my telephone calls. They keep transferring the calls & it gets disconnected after sometime, Can we actually rely on such inefficient staff , to develop tourism in Sri Lanka ? The other hassle I have to highlight here is that we have to present 2 sets of tax filings, The annual audited accounts plus the TDL account based on quarterly income, both of which has to be certified by a chartered accountant , Why can’t they make it simpler , by having just one set of tax filings based on the annual audited accounts ? Even the accountant ‘s fee is based on each quarter to file TDL , plus a separate fee, to file the annual audited accounts , At the end of it , both sets are the same, I feel these are quite unnecessary & burdensome to smaller properties unlike for bigger establishments where they have separate people to handle taxes . There are so many unregistered properties in Sri Lanka, who operate without any hassle, I’m puzzled at how burdensome it is to operate as a Legal entity.

This is the place to get approval for tourism related businesses. Staff is very supportive and they have a great follow up program from the initiation of tourism projects.

Very disappointing. Tried to contact SLTDA officer regarding tourist board license. No response for any of my calls. Tried to contact them the whole day. There are many contact numbers but non of it was reachable. Very disappointed about this service. What’s the point of showing this hotline numbers and all as far as you don’t respond. Please be responsible morethan this.
