This
country
pub
is
in
a
really
nice
setting.
Me
and
my
son
took
the
dog
and
sat
in
the
garden
having
a
pint.
I
went
inside
to
see
if
they
had
a
bag
of
mini
Cheddars
for
the
dog.
I
asked
the
barman
who
did
not
know
and
said
I'd
have
to
ask
the
boss.
A
lady
was
stood
virtually
in
front
of
me,
but
she
was
doing
something
in
a
book
with
her
head
down
concentrating.
I
thought
it
polite
to
wait
until
she
looked
up,
as
there
was
no
way
she
didn't
see
me
waiting
to
speak
to
her,
as
by
now,
we
were
the
only
people
at
the
very
quiet
bar.
I
waited...
and
waited.....
and
waited....
after
over
5
minutes
she
looked
up
and
I
said
'Sorry
to
bother
you,
do
you
do
mini
cheddars"
.
She
growled
at
me
"I've
told
you
at
least
5
times,
we
dont".
Now,
yes,
I'm
slightly
hard
of
hearing,
but
at
no
point
did
she
look
up
or
acknowledge
me,
and
if
she
knew
I
was
there
to
ask
that
question,
why
just
leave
me
there
standing
waiting
until
she
dained
to
look
up?
I
don't
know
if
she
was
just
in
a
bad
mood,
but
she
certainly
wasn't
over
busy,
and
i
did
wonder
why
it
was
a
very
warm
Saturday
afternoon
in
a
country
pub
which
was
over
half
empty.
Perhaps
I
wasn't
the
only
person
who
had
received
the
same
"friendly"
treatment.
Anyway
they
didn't
do
Mini
Cheddars
so
I
had
to
buy
a
bag
of
crisps,
and
I
don't
know
if
I'm
just
being
tight
,
but
£1.50
for
a
standard
bag
of
crisps
I
thought
was
taking
the
mickey.
Perhaps
they
don't
like
people
going
there
who
are
not
eating
a
meal.
Either
way,
I
won't
be
going
there
for
a
Saturday
afternoon
pint
again.
There
are
plenty
of
nice
country
pubs
who
do
appreciate
the
business.
