The Lower Precinct shopping area houses the fabulous tiled mural designed in 1958 by Gordon Cullen. It depicts a visual history of Coventry. From the age of the dinosaurs, the vikings and early Christianity, then forward to more modern times with nods to ribbon making, clocks, bicycle and the automotive industries for which Coventry was once renowned centre. There are also architectural illustrations of old Coventry and the more modern post war regeneration that was taking place when this mural was conceived. The mural was originally in the sloping entrance to the Lower Precinct, but this was redeveloped and consequently the mural was removed. Unfortunately, some of it was lost, but what was saved was in 2002 conserved and restored and relocated within the Precinct near the west entrance. The playful design being part abstract and part illustrative and its vibrant colours is in itself a testament to Coventry's regeneration and the huge effort made by the city and its people following the devastation and destruction inflicted during the 2nd WW.

Well designed and purposeful structure, a great addition to the skyline, the water fountain in front is beautiful, there are multiple exits and entrances, variety of shops (around 30 units of shops) and products available. It is usually cleaned and the roof design provides ample eco-friendly lighting during the day. There is a car park and there are alternative car park within walkable proximity. The shopping center is wheelchair accessible and children friendly. At Christmas it's an exception place to visit especially in the evenings, the lightings are usually a sight to behold.

When you visit the Lower Precinct Shopping Centre you can see the money spent on it. Plenty of shopping, bustling and even the toilets are looked after. The owners need to apply the same makeover to the southern end of the shopping centre which is grim!

It's not like another shoping center UK, you don't find what you want. Just 2-3 store with clothing inside.....

A lot of refurbishment work has been done to upgrade it and attract shoppers. I have revisited it again and noticed further improvements and another new shop is open there - Polish food store SMACZEK. keep good work to make it even more exciting place.

Best place to take kids as they have a free playing space and the kids love it. It could have been better if we had more chairs or benches for parents rest while their kids play. Apart from that, this place is good for shopping and you also get a ice cream/Indian snacks shop.

I am originally from Coventry and took my mum back christmas 🎄 shopping....big mistake! We were really shocked at how empty most of the shops were it was like a ghost town! They still have the old roynd about still as it was when I was a child, however doesn’t appear to be in working order.....the market had lots of empty stalls....such a shame

It's always a delight to be here every Saturday to unwind after the hustle and bustle of the week. Apart from shopping for clothes, shoes, etc there's a water fountain for children to have fun. There are other side attractions that go on here every time I visit

Good parking. I usually go to the market. It is a good place to shop and very close to the rest of the shops.

The polish shop is awesome and so is Lush but its not the nicest part of Coventry in terms of shopping experience. Quite a few pick pockets operate around here.

Thank you for valuing my feedback. These are my point of views, it has all the shops but when you enter the mall it doesn’t give a feeling of a mall, it’s like roadside shops. For the roof you have supporting pillars, there you can add shop boards so that people entering know which shop is where, also will look attractive. The ground is so chaotic with small sellers, you can organise them by portions of some box kind. There is hat shop, mobile accessories, pop corn, kids play area, When you want to walk there it looks like a market. Walk in the market and then through that mall, you can experience what I mean. There is a working clock which is good but somewhere unnoticed in right, if it’s placed in the Center will be useful and attractive. That’s all for now 😊

Sadly being a Coventrian I have watched the city centre shop quality take a slow and steady dive over the years. I remember when boots was opposite the Belgrade theatre and Owen Owens was still open. The centre has a lot of discount stores and charity shops and the market has partially closed down with lots of empty stalls. Better to go elsewhere or shop online.

Limited variety and the openness could be a downside for the weather however it’s very bright because of the natural light

Saw The Loaded at The Empire. The club has a great vibe, and I highly recommend. The Loaded were one of the best bands I've seen in a long time. The recording here is called scattered lines and it's on spotify I found.

I haven't been in to the Town Centre fir a good few years now, and what a shock to see so many units closed down and so many charity shops in place 😢 but this is the day and age of online shopping and same day/next day, free returns, who needs to get in their car, pay for the privilege in parking fees and walk around, so with no impulse buys going on, and no purchases what was I expecting. However, it was good to see that it has been cleaned up and redesigned. Although I doubt this would be a big enough draw for the majority of people. Including myself, unfortunately 😕 😪 x

Always a lively place to visit, eat and shop. Parking is good with disabled parking availability. Cleanliness can be improved a notch. There are couple of incidents reported for snatching so be careful but nothing to be scared of as security is deployed.

A nice area of Coventry city centre. Although the number of stores have declined over the years, it's still a good place with outlets for New Look, Home Bargains, TJ Hughes etc.

  • 4/5 Chris C. 10 months ago on Google
Useful, Boots, Wiko amongst others there and many used regular by me. No moans, usually get what wanted and, so far, always a good response from shop staff.

My recent visit to this shopping centre left me with some distinct impressions, both positive and negative. Here's a detailed review of my experience: One advantage of this shopping centre is that it's suitable when the weather is inclement, as it primarily consists of covered areas, offering shelter from the rain. To put it plainly, this shopping centre appears to be struggling. It's evident that it's past its prime, with limited variety and options. The lack of diversity in the stores is particularly noticeable. Inside the shops, the offerings seem to be everywhere the same, if you want to have the impression of a slightly better quality you can go to the unnecessarily expensive H&M. However, there is a notable exception to the mall's shortcomings: Flannels. This store stands out for its cleanliness and organization. Unfortunately, the staff's condescension can detract from an otherwise positive experience. The Starbucks in the centre manages to deliver a good experience, providing a pleasant break from shopping. Parking, though decent, comes at a price. It's worth noting that taking the stairs might not be the most pleasant experience, as the stairwell can have an unpleasant odour. On the downside, Boots always seems to be lacking in stock, which can be frustrating for customers. Furthermore, the staff at the Superdrug appear to be overly vigilant, giving shoppers the feeling that they are being closely watched, which can be uncomfortable. In summary, I visit this shopping centre mainly out of convenience when I don't have the time to go somewhere else. It's clear that the centre is struggling, with limited variety and options, but there are exceptions like Flannels and Starbucks that provide a better experience. The parking, while decent, comes at a price, and the stairwells could use some improvement. Additionally, the lack of stock at Boots and the overzealous staff at the Superdrug are notable drawbacks.

Service was mediocre. Was given takeaway cups with no explanation, and when I questioned it, I had no apology (they were having staff problems). No reduction in price either!!!! The drinks were not up to standard, as only a slight serving of cream was applied (this always occurs at this branch), no sprinkling of chocolate/ cocoa. The actual taste was ok. Another disappointing visit, 😞 will not be returning.

Not a place I want to hang around, especially because I don't enjoy shopping in the stores there. It would be excellent if there were some decent stores in there. There isn't much to shop for in there. It is highly crowded. Mall looks date as well.

You have to applaud the person who had the vision to change this area of the precinct. A once derelict, smelly, pigeon ridden, dive of inner Cov where we used to go clubbing has been transformed by a windowed ceiling - it's cleaner, nicer and makes you wonder what else can be done when you endeavour to improve - how nice.

Because I used to work there, there is plenty of an old memories there, also as inflation is hitting us hard, that is the only place, to pick the bargain up, save you lot of pennies, because pennies makes pounds. Once you visit the place, you definitely go back, that’s my consent to you. There are plenty of different kind of variety, which never seen before, also plenty you can an explore different kind of cultural staff. You won’t disappoint at all.

A part of the central shopping arcade in the Coventry City centre. It has numerous shops and some food outlets, well a decent coffee shop (Bean & Brunch), Caffè Nero and Pizza Hut. It has (paid) parking and access to the indoor Market.

Coventry City Centre is a disapoint overall. It has not been as developed as good as it could have been. It has never had the ability to attract high end brand names. It has recently received a make over to give a more pleasing visual appeal as part of city of culture. But it could be any 2nd rate city in UK.

Looks really good now with the new revamp! Bit of a shame to see so many homeless people walking around asking people to buy them food. Cant believe its 2021 and we still have so many homeless people.

Shops not nice. A bit run down. People pushing and shoving, a feeling of anti social activity. Was nearly run over by a youth on an E scooter. No security or Police.

Easy accessible from Spon Street and the market so plenty of parking plus nearby bus stops and taxi rank. Coventry is seriously lacking quality shops and the few we have Next, Clark's H&M Boots are in the lower precinct

Okay shopping precinct in Coventry. Wide shop and cafe selection with easy access via lift or walkway to shops. Few more vacant lots than previous years, but otherwise good place with easy indoor access too to Coventry Market!

Very good parking facility. Getting out to the shops is bit tricky £1 for 1hr, £2 for 3 hr, £3 for 3hr, £4 for 4hr, Pay at exit from the pay machine or pay via phone once entered. No check in exit, you have remember to pay to avoid parking fines.

Another great choice of places to shop. I've seen this place expand over Forty years. The donut shape building in the middle has always been a place to have coffees, snacks and sandwiches etc. For the kids there is a Toy shop called the Entertainer. Clothe shops and even a charity shop with furniture.

Gorgeous! The surroundings are so nice to look at and I love the fact that you can take a nice walk to the nature reserve at the back of Wagamama and Five Guys . I definitely can't wait to explore it properly

The Council have invested huge amounts in the city since I was there 15 years ago, its transformed into a beautiful cosmopolitan city from concrete dump, I barely recognised it, well done! It has a nice feel, I will definitely visit more frequently now!

Where do I start?! Need clothes ? Furniture or home decor ? Jewelry ? Toys? Pharmacare ? Flowers? Groceries? Halloween costumes ? Phone accessories ? Or just a place to hang while your kids play in the entertainment space? This is the place to be! And don't even get me started on Coventry Market where you get affordable, fresh produce!

  • 5/5 Richard S. 1 year ago on Google
Open and spacious shopping centre with a variety of shops. Direct access to Coventry market is via Sherbourne Arcade with the west entrance leading to Queen Victoria Road and the east entrance leading to Smithford Way, Market Way and Upper Precinct. There is also a connected car park and toilets available. Seating is available around the shopping centre and there are often activities for children in the centre of the ground floor.

  • 5/5 Deb C. 1 year ago on Google
This precinct has some good, long established shops like The Entertainer and Boots as well as some newer ones and also leads into the Coventry Market. It provides rain cover as well so that's a bonus.

  • 3/5 Tony 1 year ago on Google
Tired and dated. All concrete exterior, not especially pleasant place to visit. Centre an odd mix of very old and modern. Didn't feel it had been blended together properly in places. Seems to have been updated piecemeal when what it really needs is demolishing and starting again. Range of shop units was good.
