I have been to Creston quite a few times and this time has to be the worst service I have ever received from Ricky’s restaurant. Our second time eating here the waitress did not even greet us she just grabbed 4 menus and seated us. It took her 15 minutes to bring drinks. (This I can understand if they were actually busy) but they had 3 waitress and maybe 5 tables including ours. She barley spoke until the end when we were ready to pay. We also stopped in before we were leaving town and had 3 different waitresses just look up and carried on. Needles to say we left and found a cute older fashion diner called ricks iron kettle for breakfast. Please supports this family diner before the big box chain that does not care how customers are treated. They seated us immediately and were very friendly staff and everything was brought and served like normal service in a good restaurant.

Stopped in for breakfast today. Walked into an empty and clean restaurant, the former not a good sign, the latter appreciated. Our server, Emily, was friendly and knowledgeable and served us efficiently and effortlessly; kudos to Emily. I had the eggs benny with stuffed hashbrowns and was quite impressed. The hollandaise sauce was the weak link being less flavourful and buttery as I would have liked. But everything else was great. I especially liked the hash browns which was a more substantial and tasty option to the regular fried potatos. Price point was quite affordable and portions were adequate. I typically prefer to try mom n pop businesses as I enjoy the local and personal vibe each one possesses. This is one exception to the rule. 4 stars.

Update September 2022: Added new menu items like the pulled pork brekkie bowl. Excellent option, a bit sweet from the pulled pork, large portion worth the money if you have a big appetite. I prefer to change to regular hollandaise sauce over the ranchero sauce. Also suggest you order it with the sour dough bread you won't be disappointed. It's now clear the restaurant could use a refresh, its clean but could use and update the tables are getting warn, the carpet needs to be replaced. An overall refresh would once again make this place new again. Original review: Great location in Creston, Staff is excellent, place in clean and food is good. Breakfast is good, one of my favorites is the meat lover's brekkie bowl. One of my favorite lunch/dinners is the chicken finger dinner. I recommend you try the chicken fingers, chicken and waffles. The battered chicken breast strips are fantastic.

Was really good. Great job on cooking fore who's celiac. Amazing burger. Nice to be able to order fries too. As a chef myself, great job. I'll be back!

Very average place to eat in. Average service, salty food or average food. Average portion. Mushroom soup was tasty though. They do lunch special during weekdays until 2 pm. We arrived before 3 pm, so couldn’t get that deal!!! Too bad. Update: We just remembered now, they didn’t give my daughter desert which was supposed to come with kids meal. They also didn’t mention about kid’s drink, but my husband mentioned it, so we could get it though. So I reduce stars...

I dont enjoy giving out a negative review. But sometimes I have to. For such a slow place. The wait staff seemed to take forever. The one waitress, while very nice didn't seem to be able to remember our orders properly. And the food... well it was passable at best. I don't live here, so I am glad I won't have to return. I hope that the locals can find a better place to spend their hard earned wages.

Very busy the morning of Canada Day, the servers were doing their best and despite being run off their feet were still attentive. Very good breakfast and even Canada Day pancakes.

Terrible service from start to finish. Restaurant was not overly busy when we walked in, but we waited 15 minutes just for someone to acknowledge us standing there, because they were standing around talking. We got sat down, order taken, and then ignored. Our food was brought out and one meal was incorrect, and when we notified the waitress she went to the back to get it corrected and never returned. Every waitress walked by and stared at our dirty plates but kept walking. After 20 minutes of sitting with empty dirty plates and empty glasses, we finally flagged down a different waitress who cleared our table and brought us more drinks. The only good thing about our meal was the food that was correct, was very good.

They made my plate amazing. I asked for no bun and they made my plate happy sunshine with all the fixings. Fantastic lady waitress. Highly recommend it!! Thank you.

Food was terrible. Portions were absolutely appalling. $12 for a plate of fries and gravy. I got maybe 15 fries, and some cold gravy that tasted Reminiscent of dirty dishwater. I would have been better off eating from the dumpster.. Server was nice.

Not often I find such healthy, great tasting food on my road trips through small towns. The Quinoa and Feta add protein, fibre, and great taste. Never tried the dressing. August 2022 - The food here is still great! Had the turkey dinner this time. The menu described "home cooked taste". It was actually better because the white breast meat was tender and juicy (unlike most home turkeys that get overcooked).

Arrived at 6:10 pm Oct 9. Fairly busy. Ordered at 6:20 pm. Food was served at 7:20 pm. Our waitress basically ignored us for an hour. No explanations, no update, no "thanks for your patience." The food finally arrives but with no cutlery. She comes back with a handful of cutlery like she grabbed it from a dishwasher and just hands it all to my wife. Then forgot the condiments. Not once did she check back and ask how the meal was. I won't post her name. I did leave a tip, but we left the restaurant very unimpressed.

The service was very disappointing. We ordered fish & shrimp platter and we got 2 of them but, we ordered one. Our waitress came after 10 mins & advised that she made a mistake as they were very busy in kitchen. Her name was Desiree. If she has served 2 of the same order, it is not our mistake. So, we had to pay for two but, I think she should have charged for only one. The French onion soup was salty, She was not happy while we asked for the take away boxes & she didn’t care whether we have enough boxes to pack our food. She was not professional or caring. I would rather think twice before going to Rickies next time.

The food is always excellent but the service is slow. Today we almost had good service for the first time, thanks to a wonderful server, and then our server was switched at the end of our meal and we then waited 30 minutes just for someone to notice our food was done and bring us our bill. This took a combination of 3 people to accomplish this task.

Went to Rickys for breakfast this morning..took 15 minutes for a coffee and then 45 minutes more for meal . It was not busy ...6... people in whole restaurant and 2 waitresses. More people came in 1/2 hour after me and my daughter did . ...they got their meals before us. I actually had to say something about waiting 45 minutes for our meals, before it took another 10 minutes to get . To top it off stood for 20 minutes to pay . Absolutely unexceptable . Won't be eating there again . Food was good though and hot.

The food, the service everything was top notch. I can't recall a time where my husband used the words great meal & great value in the same sentence. He had the Prime Rib, this day & age it's hard to find a GREAT Prime Rib meal, the meat was exactly what he ordered the garlic mashed potatoes were to die for I couldn't stop stealing a mouthful every chance I had. I had an amazing special burger with 3 types of cheese and a cheese crisp on top with bacon very tasty & filling with a side of the best tasting tomato soup I have ever had, the roasted tomatoes had so much flavor. We decided on a piece of peach pie & ice cream to take home and share and even that was over the top with flavor. We did not get our waitresses name but she was super friendly not overly pushy and was always there when we needed, and she was very knowledgeable about the menu.We can't wait to come back & we will share with everyone we know to stop at the best restaurant in Creston.

Every time I have gone to this Ricky’s they manage to mess up the order. For this particular order, you could imagine the disappointment when we ordered what was pictured in the menu on the left for take-out, and got home and opened the embarrassment on the right. When I contacted them about the lack of berries, whipped cream/presentation, they did nothing and told me the manager would call me, they never did. This was also a breakfast for my partners birthday that I had picked up so I was very disappointed with the mixed up order and terrible customer service. The time before this, I had ordered a dish for breakfast that contained avocados, I wanted the dish SOLELY because it came with avocado, and they presented the wrong order and it had no avocado. I didn’t care at the time but after THIS, this was the last straw. I refuse to ever eat here again and I make sure to tell everyone about it! I see that the “owner” has replied to my review. I would appreciate if they were looking to rectify the situation, but they are completely lying in their reply as there were no extra berries/cream packaged separately and they NEVER offered a free dessert. Maybe they have this interaction confused with another one because I’m positive this happens often! Nice response trying to cover your own but your team got the order wrong and didn’t even offer to make a new one in it’s place. All I received was plain French toast with no toppings. Their reply is a lie.

A HUGE shout out to the staff on Christmas Day that was understaffed yet held that dining room like a tight oiled ship. The waiting staff and cooks came together with such positivity , organization and the team work was phenomenal. The staff that came in on this day and provided such exceptional service deserves recognition and a pay increase. Hard-working, loyal and positive staff is rare. No place settings. Paper napkins and cutlery just placed on the table as we sat went to sit down. Asked what was the soup of the day, waitress said it was some sort of veggie soup and thought she saw some chilli. Gave it a miss. Had liver and onions and a beer. Beer was bordering on too warm for a lager. Liver and onions were great. Veggies were supposed to be "in season" this valley is known for vegetables" and these were probably frozen from a bag. They were not cooked properly, hot and cold at the same time, microwaved?

The food can be hit and miss. They always seem under staffed

The food here was very good. The portion sizes were generous and everybody with me was fully satisfied with their order. The waitress and hostess were especially kind to my 2 year old daughter, making sure she had activities and goodies to keep her entertained. They also interacted with her which made her light up. It was heartwarming and made our visit that much more enjoyable.

Food was ok, my eggs were kind of rubbery and hubby's food was tepid. Other than that, was your basics. There is no contact tracing list however and they automatically bring you peanut butter and a jam of their choice. I am not sure of their behind the scenes practice but this seems wasteful and unsanitary. They also bring you a dish full of cream and sugar for coffee and we take our coffee black. I just suggest they ask about these things to keep people safe. Our waitress was delightful and served us well.
