Beautiful atmosphere, calm and cozy place embedded with Ethiopian culture and a mini museum-like. This was my first time trying Ethiopian food. Gotta say I'm not that big of a fan, but everyone else I went with seem to really enjoy the food, so I guess it depends with your palate. The overall service was really good.

One of the finest restaurants in Dar es Salaam. The whole experience of sharing food in a traditional Ethiopian platter, the nice first floor veranda, the Tanzanian night sky, the furniture and the music add to a unique experience. All the dishes we tried were well cooked and tasty but the lamb was delicious! The service was very polite and genuinely friendly and the prices were reasonable for tourists.

Just thinking about the food at Addis in Dar makes my mouth water and heart feel happy. I love this place like crazy. The food is perfect every time we go. The staff are very professional and attentive. The ambiance is lovely. We had take away for the first time tonight and it was still great! I was very happy to see that bundle of injera with our family sized meal!

Addis in DAR ... Lovely place. The ambiance is great... You feel a bit of fairy tale. Service is very polite and efficient. All goes smooth and with ease. It has become one of my favorite places after just one visit but will go in the coming days again to see how consistent it is. How to evaluate Ethiopian Food, I honestly believe for non-Ethiopian it will always be subjective. We enjoyed it very much, the pumpkin was lovely full of aromas, the bread lovely, I enjoyed the shrimps and chicken that where bombs of condiments and spices just lovely. The waitress coming with water for you to wash your hands... Just nice (suggestion here I would put some scent in the water... just a little) It will also be a place where I will take guests often and happily. Have a nice meal!

Was taken there for my birthday treat by close friends... it wqs one of my best birthdays ever. Absolutely awesome Ethiopian food, with amazing ambience to match. The staff is friendly and they make sure you are as comfortable as possible. Go there in a group, so that everyone orders different food and you get to sample a variety of their cuisine.

Wow. This place is incredible, a quiet spot tucked away from the busier streets. Traditional Ethiopian cuisine with curry style dishes served sociably onto one single sharing plate onto an Ethiopian style rice based pancake. Not only is the service and food fantastic, it makes for a really unique dining experience. The staff are lovely and very friendly.

I'm a fan. Prices are extremely good given the quality of the experience. The ambience is perfect for a nighttime dinner to remember. Although I'm not quite sure if I like Ethiopian food in general--sour bread isn't terribly appealing--, it's definitely at its best here. No problems with service.

I wanted to eat Tanzanian food for dinner, but the place that I wanted to go for authentic Tanzanian & East African food - doesn’t have a menu with prices and I read a lot of reviews of tourists being charged ridiculous prices after food was consumed. I’ve fallen for that scam once in Italy, Never Again! So we ended up eating the cuisine of another East African country instead. Ethiopian food at Addis in Dar. One of the few restaurants open on Tuesday night (which seems to be the weekly holiday for restaurants in Dar) Set on the open terrace of a 2 floored house, surrounded by trees, there was a lovely breeze blowing which made for a good experience. We ordered one of the combos that came with misir wot (masoor dhal), chicken doro wot and lamb alicha wot. Added a gomen (sautéed spinach) to this combo. When the food arrived, the injeera was made from rice, not teff and there was a bit of a a cabbage carrot dish too. Excellent food, light on the stomach and tasty too. They had tej and other alcoholic drinks too, but I had a fresh lime soda to combat the heat.

Addis In Dar is a place to be if you love Ethiopian foods. The spot is exceptionally cosy and family-friendly, the food, music and vibe are as perfect as in Ethiopia (those who have been to Ethiopia & Addis In Dar will agree), and service is of a high level which explains the pricing 😜. I wish they had Ethiopian homemade juice options.

Authentic ethiopian Restaurant ! Great Menuecard, every Meal is awesome! My biggest recommending of authentic cooking ( incl. the coffee celebration). Also the vegetarian dishes were Great. So you don't need to go to Ethiopia for a great Taste of this country!

Good spot to try some different cuisine while in Dar. I got the doro wat and a side of potatoes. The doro way was tasty….the sauce on it was tasty and flavorful. The potatoes were good as well. I would have preferred them with a little more salt or flavoring but overall good.

Ethiopian Cuisine is an experience one must have. The minute you walk inside and take in the big mango trees around, incense sticks aroma, warmth of the staff, cute wooden and cane furniture and the Ethiopian music playing in the background you are set for a lovely time here. If you are in a group of 5 you should try the Coffee Ceremony and keep the host informed in advance for the preparation. It was my first experience trying the cuisine and I am looking forward to revisiting Addis to try out every item on the menu. Go there when you are extremely hungry only then you'll be able to complete the portion served to you! Honey Ethiopian Wine is ❤️

Authentic Ethiopian cuisine, but many dishes on the menu were not available. Service could have been bit faster. Reasonably priced. Worth visiting once if you're keen on exploring Ethiopian cuisine.

  • 5/5 Amanda W. 1 year ago on Google
Wow. Billowing frankinsence, classic ethiopian music, authentic taste, large portions, palm tree skyline, flickering candles, unique furniture and decor what more would some one want? The prices were MORE than fair for this experience, anyone who thinks the prices are too high should probably stick to street food. I will be back soon for sure.

I love Ethiopian food but this spot is for me the best in Dar! Thé cosy ambiance and decoration make you feel traveling… The staff is just amazing and always checking on you, they are very kind but also well trained! Food is so yummy… you can close ur eyes and feel Addis lol With a little fee you can also bring your own bottles if they don’t have. Location is perfect, prices pretty affordable, I highly recommend this place!

Addis in Dar is a great Ethiopian restaurant in upper class Mikocheni in Dar es Salaam. The venue is in the middle of a lush garden. Menu with original Ethiopian dishes is ample. The service is friendly and any dinner is concluded with an Ethiopian coffee ceremony.
