I had an opportunity to visit Japanese Peace Pagoda in Darjeeling and was absolutely captivated by the peaceful and serene atmosphere of the location. The monastery was nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas, and the views of the surrounding mountains were absolutely breathtaking. As I entered the monastery grounds, I was immediately struck by the sense of calm and tranquility that seemed to pervade the air. The buildings were simple and unadorned, with a focus on functionality rather than aesthetics. The monks who lived and worked at the monastery were all dressed in traditional robes, and they moved about their tasks with a sense of purpose and devotion. As I explored the monastery, I was struck by the sense of community and connection that seemed to pervade the air. The monks were all very welcoming and seemed to genuinely enjoy answering my questions about their way of life. I was also impressed by the sense of purpose and discipline that seemed to be a part of daily life at the monastery. The monks followed a strict schedule that included meditation, prayer, and study, and I could see how this structured way of life might be very conducive to spiritual growth. Overall, my visit to the Buddhist monastery in Darjeeling was a truly enriching and memorable experience. The natural beauty of the location, combined with the peaceful and serene atmosphere of the monastery, made for a truly one-of-a-kind experience. If you have the opportunity to visit a Buddhist monastery, I highly recommend it - you will not be disappointed.

The beautiful Buddhist monastery and Peace Pagoda is located near the top of the Jalapahar Hill, about 2 km from the Darjeeling Clock Tower. We are lucky that it was open while our stay in Darjeeling in first week of October. The pagoda had beautiful gold plated sculptures of the Buddha in various postures and murals depicting some of the events in his life. Mesmerizing view, serene peace and awesome place with tall pine trees and rhododendron bushes just beginning to flower, and with the majestic Kanchenjunga mountains as the backdrop. A must visit place in Darjeeling. What really enhances this place, and adds joy, is in the upper prayer hall of the nearby temple building. If you are lucky your visit will coincide with the chanting of prayers, and drumming.

It  is one of the "Peace Pagodas" designed to provide a focus for people of all races and creeds to help unite them in their search for world peace. It's located at "Darjeeling" in state of "West Bengal". It houses the four avatars of "Buddha" including "Maitreya Buddha". The Pagoda is situated on the slopes of the Jalapahar hills of Darjeeling, about 10 kilometres from the town of Darjeeling. It's nice place to pray or for meditation. The atmosphere is also very clean and a satisfying peace you will find here.

The name says it all.. standing high on the hill, it's peaceful & serene .... This place shows the phase of Buddhas life in form of statues . It offers a beautiful view from top. It takes few steps to reach the top but it's worth it. Absolute calmness and serenity . There is a temple established by a Buddhist monk from Japan .. it's sacred and feels positive over there .

Set atop a hill, the pagoda is a stunning structure that exudes peace and tranquility, making it an ideal place for meditation and spiritual reflection. A place for people thriving for inner peace. Most peaceful place of Darjeeling. The one place that inspires you to meditate and introspect. Such a well maintained place. Do visit the pagoda in early morning hours in order to feel its sanctity and peace. The breathtaking views of Kanchenjunga are another bonus. A very calm and serene atmosphere embrace you and leaves you so full of the ambience of the place.

Right at the end, a narrow road leads to the peace Pagoda. Draped in white it exudes positivity and calmness. Came here during the wee hours of the morning to avoid the crowd. Plus the view of the Kanchenjunga is great.

One of the key places to visit in Darjeeling. This place has a sense of calmness. There is Japanese temple here as well where we can read about the history of Buddhism and also about the other peace pagoda in India.

It is a Japanese Temple beautifully structured at the top of a point. Best time to visit here during clear skies as you can see a beautiful view walking some distance away from the temple as shown in the third picture though when I went there clouds were all around. Usually busy nowadays because it is a famous and a renowned temple of Darjeeling. A highly recommended place from mine side as you can get some good vibes from here.

Peace Pagoda, Darjeeling or is one of the Japanese Peace Pagoda, which is the tallest free standing structure of Darjeeling showcasing 4 avatars of Buddha. While from the top of the pagoda, you get the Panoramic views of Darjeeling's beautiful landscape along with the peaks of the forever snow capped Kanchenjunga range. No charges to visit there, there are less parking areas and also do make a note of the public toilet which is in real bad condition and I'm sure no one will use it..

One of the must visit place in Darjeeling. It is located in the Jalapahar hills built by Nichidatsu Fujii, a buddhist monk from Japan. It has four avatar of buddha constructed in gold plated polish. The place is surrounded by beautiful serene as we had visited in the month of july we could see clearly. There are beautiful pine trees and the Kanchenjunga mountains were slighty visible. The road towards this is narrow. I am not sure how will be the situation during seasonal.

You'll get 2 of the 7 point sightseeing package at the same place, Japanese temple and Peace Pagoda. Parking is available and the view is really nice. We experienced being within clouds here. The place and view is really nice. You don't have to walk a lot as well. No ticket service is there, you can visit for free. And you need to remove your shoes before entering both of these places.

Enjoy the Peace Pagoda and the Buddhist Temple at Darjeeling. We visited in the evening when there was almost vacant! The place has some amazing views to enjoy, but we were unlucky due to cloudy weather. The peace pagoda was initiated by Fuji Guruji after he witnessed the bombing at Hiroshima & Nagasaki and was inaugurated on 1972. The beautiful place has depicted the life of Gautam Buddha through some amazing sculptures. The place is well maintained, and the Buddhist Temple is well decorated.

Also known as Nipponzan Myohoji Buddhist Temple, the shrine was built in 1972 and is located 10 minutes away from the Darjeeling town centre, on the hill of Jalapahar. Showcasing classic Japanese style of architecture, this resplendent white building offers visitors a serene and quiet sanctum where they can meditate and seek inner peace.

A beautiful Buddhist stupa & a Japanese temple located in the same compound. The stupa also depicts the 4 life stages of Buddha with statues and carvings on the painting. The compound is very peaceful and I would recommend visiting this place in the evening to watch the sun set over the beautiful city of Darjeeling.

The Japanese Peace Pagoda is a Pagoda coupled with a Japanese Buddhist temple, situated on top of a hill making the views around spectacular. On clear days the view of Kanchenjunga Mountain is extremely clear. You will find large crowds here as it is a popular attraction in Darjeeling. Older people might find it hard to step up right to the Pagoda as it has a number of steps, however the temple is only about 15 steps above the vehicle drop point. The structure is splendid and well maintained. There is no entry fee required here!

One of the most serene and calm places to visit in Darjeeling. It's located very close to Chauk Bazar. Travellers can avail a cab to reach the place or they can trek through the scenic uphill route. On a clear day one can view the mighty Kanchenjunga. Lord Buddha facing the Kanchenjunga mountain is a view to behold.
