Great Place to go as a student for a cycle or a walk. Generally empty its a good place to spend a few hours with a few friends. Ideal on a sunny day!

A small but beautiful wood on the south bank of the River Dee, only a few minutes walk from the centre of Chester. I reached it by crossing the busy Grosvenor Bridge; an opening on the right a short distance further along led me to a Victorian iron footbridge with great views of the tree canopy, and then a flight of steps leading down to the woodland floor. From here, well defined paths branched out in all directions, inviting me to explore. It's a tranquil little place with majestic old trees, a profusion of plant life and opportunities to spot woodland birds and other wildlife. A lovely walk along the riverside path and across the Old Dee Bridge takes you back into the city centre.

The Dingle is a small area of woodland situated between Grosvenor road and Curzon Park on the southern side of the River Dee. Great place to walk the dog or take your bike for a ride, you can pick up quite a bit of speed down the steep slope at the Overleigh roundabout entrance called the "chicken run" fantastic fun and free of charge

Even though this is only quite a small spot, I found it to be a really welcome little escape from the rest of the business around the city centre; while I was out exploring for a day. Particularly if you're also thinking of walking through the Overleigh Old Cemetery next door (a quirky, restful little place to stroll through, too), definitely consider taking 5 minutes to include a walk through the Dingle on your visit.

Only small but has so much to give. I use it to do bits of my trail running and training for trail races.

This is a gorgeous, hidden gem in Chester. Paths run alongside the river Dee, to a secluded, small wooded area. Ideal for anyone looking for a brief escape from the city.
