Worked there for a few months in child watch. Didn't get paid for my first two days because the director J. Castleberry says she wasn't able to put it in on time. Dig that. Love the kids but my boss must've just qualified because you can tell she doesn't know what she's doing. I on numerous occasions was to work the child center afterwards. Center is ran like a mad house. I wish i could give it no stars. I don't have any credential or cpr/first aide but was assigned to watch up to 4 infants or more. Teachers having altercations in the classroom with infants and also a parent in the classroom. Smh. Both teachers should've been fired. Not enough food to feed all. Seen a teacher often twerking in a class full of 1-2 year olds. I wouldn't recommend my pet there. Some gets spanked. A infant head hit the floor and staff lied about what happened to the parent. A coworker assumed the infant could seat up with no help. Coworker has no past experience with infants. Some teachers bring there own preteens- teenagers to help out in the center. Smh. Question yourself: do those cameras really work? Would you want your child there? The director of Jeanine Castleberry just cover things up, talk to the parents and not tell them everything make it sound not so bad or she directs one of the of the teachers to do that. Casselberry's assistant would do a better job than she does, Miss Johnson. Sleeping teachers. Always out of ratio. I was only supposed to watch classrooms when teacher wants to go on lunch break. But teachers calling off, walking off, and quitting with no notice... Certified teachers being offered 9.70 hour smdh The director is informed of all incidences. Plus its cameras in every room. Not sure if they work. But i doubt it because too much be going on. I see why YMCA runs threw directors. I was fired. Was sad and glad at the same time. I will miss my kids from child watch. Especially Nico Westin Natalie Isaac and Arie. I very much enjoyed creating Arts and Crafts with them. I also was told Child Watch has never been so much fun. That means a lot to me.

I love the Boll Family Y. I've been a member for years. These days, I use mostly the pool. Great exercise, great facility. The staff is very friendly and helpful. And the Y does great stuff for the community too.

Everyone is very nice. I used the pool with my kids both times I visited. The life guards were extremely kind and helpful. They made my experience wonderful. Because of that I’m going to make sure I change my ymca home membership location. A lady at the front fixed my family account and made checkin smooth. Thank you

The Y feels like a second family! When I first moved to Detroit I didn't really know anyone. Because of this the Boll Family YMCA became my happy place. A place where I could feel accepted and where I could feel a place of community. The Y has also helped be consistent in my weight loss and fitness journey. Since being at the Y I have lost 35 pounds and it is the culture of health and fitness that has helped me keep it off. Over the course of the two years that I have been at the Y, I have seen the fitness class options go from pretty good to amazing and I'm pretty excited that these class additions will help me to accomplish my long standing fitness goals. Not only would l suggest that someone join the Boll family YMCA but I have suggested this to people that I know and at least one person has.

You can't talk to anyone or get ahold of anyone at the front desk. When you call the number no matter what selection you make it always goes to a voicemail. I'm glad I have a membership here lol. I will be canceling it soon!

I just recently joined the YMCA program. I truly can't speak on anything cause it's to soon. I will say that this facility is a very nice and clean facility and have everything you want and need for working out and building a better and healthier body. If you're looking for somewhere to go to and concentrate on you and maybe even socialize if you choose then I recommend that you give the YMCA of DETROIT a visit. Do it for YOU!!

I look forward to working out here! The instructors are awesome Emily, Shakina, India, Lizzy, Chloe, and Cheryl keep me motivated! I’ve met some amazing people also! Front desk staff are pretty amazing too! My 8 year old loves coming here also! He takes swim lessons and Ninja lessons. The instructors are dope and very patient with the children! My son is now very confident in the water and I love how dedicated the staff and director are in making sure they learn water safety!

My favorite exercises are basketball, HIIT jump rope and lifting heavy dumbbells. Those exercises are best with big open spaces. Before the pandemic basketball was great but there weren't many open spaces for jumping rope and stretching. Since the pandemic, the Y has provided many more open spaces. Coupled with the existing equipment rooms, I feel the Y now offers resources for all types of workouts. The staff is always great, the other members are kind and the facility is beautiful.

Wonderful YMCA. Used the weight room yesterday and was impressed with the amount of equipment. People were friendly and staff was helpful. Accross the street from The Element which was very convenient. If you stay at the element they let you have a day pass for free.

I took swimming lessons for adults here last summer. My instructor was Lauren. Lauren was so motivating and patient. She is passionate about her students success and feeling comfortable in the water. At the end of the class, I was confident enough to tread water in the deep end. Will definitely recommend.

I love that the teachers for preschool are POC, ability to make up missed lessons, the proximity to my home and the facility itself. Downside is that they have no parking lot.

Clean friendly plenty of cardio and weight machines. Indoor track, pool and classes round out the facility side. No towel service post covid. Great community.

The front desk staff is always friendly and welcoming. The Y always has activities for me and my family to participate in. My 4 year loves going to the Y for winter camp, summer camp and parents night out. He enjoys running around the track with his dad and working on his soccer skills. I like the workout classes and being able to workout with my family.

Hours suck. Facility could be cleaner. Gym etiquete should be enforced a bit more. Besides that it’s fine given it’s one of our only options in the city

The Y in downtown Detroit is great. The building is clean and inviting. The workers are helpful and kind. It's overall enjoyable to bring family for little events or a good workout on any floor

This YMCA is fantastic, the facility is very modern and the staff is professional, polite and efficient in helping members meet their fitness goals. The Boll Y is the best place for senior citizens to regain mobility and strength with professional friendly and patient exercise instructors!! Make sure to join water aeorbics and silver sneakers exercise classes!!!

Swim lessons are going great with Krystalyn! Love the atmosphere and the location. Just wish parking came with the membership. Ericka at the front desk is also awesome and super helpful.

We love it here and send our kids to camp. Amenities are great. Pool is great. Sometimes the schedules have been hard to find though. Otherwise, happy family members.

Excellent clean facility!! I love coming to the indoor track in the mornings on my days off. The pool and jet tub are amazing. The views of the city are great while working out. The staff are always friendly. Overall great facility!

This facility is a Downtown gem — pristinely maintained, expertly designed, big enough to host activities that can appeal to a wide range of interests. As an organization, they communicate regularly and effectively with members.

The staff are friendly but the hours are terrible, and the workout equipment is sub par. They don’t have enough workout equipment and a lot of the machines they do have are either useless or unusable. Additionally they like to kick people out of the gym before the closing time on weekends.

I’ve been coming here for 10 years and I always enjoy the classes. I’ve taken Silver Sneakers, Strength training, Tai Chi, Yoga, the works. I train year round on the indoor track. My daughter loves the rock wall and swimming. The staff and instructors are friendly and wonderful.

I can only speak to the preschool swim class, but I’m so happy that I enrolled my daughter (3.5 years old) in swim class here! She started with basically no water skills, and five lessons later can jump into the pool, put her face in the water, and swim a bit with a kick board. She’s much more confident getting in and out of the water and is always eager to get out of the house on swim class mornings. Her teacher, Malachi, was excellent with the kids: super patient and kind, gave clear instructions, and kept the class moving while also giving individual attention to each kid. Also, the family changing room is nice, and the pool is well-laid-out for lessons for little kids.

Great facility, it’s just THE FRONT DESK! Not the best customer service skills. Impolite, they don’t listen and you have to repeat the same thing over in order for them to hear what you meant. I could’ve swear I was talking to a rude teenager, not the head of admissions. I can see they hire anybody during this pandemic and even before, Smh terrible.

This YMCA is a first rate friendly, clean, and pleasant environment. The run/walk indoor track is highly recommended. I've been a member for 5 plus years and have had consistently positive experiences!!!
