Last night was my first time at the Monarch Club. And all I have to say is wow. The vibe, ambiance, atmosphere. Everything was so nice, inside and outside. I love the rooftop set up, fire pits. We had a small VIP section, velvet couches, cute tables. It was definitely an experience. Our waiter had on the cutest Blue blazer, and he made us feel so welcome. We had a group of about 15 and everyone was catered to. The food was really good. The truffle fries are a must have with the sauce on the side so good. The flat bread was different and delicious. The drinks were amazing, they put so much detail into everything. Thanks for a wonderful first experience. We will be back.

Great place for cocktails, beer and wine on the roof of the Element hotel in Downtown Detroit. They have nice view of Comerica Park and Ford Field. They also have plenty of seating indoor and outdoor.

We visited The Monarch Club last Saturday and it was amazing! Excellent service, friendly, and gorgeous views of the Detroit skyline. It may be a bit frustrating getting in, but you'll appreciate that it's not overly crowded once you do. To clear up any confusion you first wait inside the lobby at the Element Hotel to add your name to the list. They will text you when your spot has opened then you just proceed to the elevator and go to the PH level. You will be greeted by a host and you just give the phone #. While waiting I suggest Queens Bar, The Brakeman, or The Evening Room, all within close walking distance. A must see for visitors and locals alike. Enjoy!

I would recommend this place for the views and the drinks but the food was just okay. Personally I would say don't order the flat bread because it's tiny for the money. The sliders were delicious. Awesome atmosphere, touch of modern with old-school vibes, K-pop was my favorite drink

I had a wonderful experience here! From the ambience to the phenomenal penthouse view of the city. The bartenders knowledge on drinks was exceptional and the food was amazing!

Beautiful space, nice staff and wonderful views. The drinks are really good, price is $18-20 per cocktail. Worth it for the experience. I went on a rainy Tuesday, so it was not busy. Reservations are probably essential for a nice day or weekend. I'll definitely return when I visit Detroit again. Perfect for date night. Can't comment on the food, I was only here for drinks.

My husband and I had 3 cocktails each on the rooftop terrace. The views are impeccable. We came at sunset and I highly recommend visiting this place for at a least a drink. We did not try the food this visit. The cocktails we had were very delightful and tasteful! They are a bit more pricey, but they are made well.

This was such a beautiful place, and I’m taking a star away solely because of the energy of the people here. We came on a Saturday evening. The servers and host were so lovely but the crowd on the rooftop was not the most welcoming to people who look like me. Despite that, when we sat inside instead we had a much better time! The drinks were really tasty and aesthetic, and the charcuterie board paired nicely, though there were a few pork options on there we had removed. All in all this is a great place to go before a night out, and I would return if they had an event I liked or there was a large party of people more friendly and accepting.

The vibes were very nice, service wasn't the best. Bar made us a really nice mocktail. Food was good. Only issue was service. Or food came out before our drinks and at different times. Not so much of a problem but had to wait for the truffle fries an extra 20 mins after the crab cakes came out. Also one of our glasses broke, which happens ,our waitress said and even went back to replace it. Glass was taken away but mess was never cleaned. Definitely a fun night with out with the girls, or a cute date idea. Get the truffle, lol even with the wait lmao!

Great place for a casual meetup, cocktails and tapas. The views are amazing!! We ordered the flat bread with no meat and some sort of dip as well. Both were delicious and more fulfilling than expected. There breathtaking views on each side of the building, and the interior sets the vibe of a classical 1930s scene.

This is an excellent, yet secretive, spot to take a date out for cocktails to witness beautiful views of Downtown Detroit from above. The service was excellent, but the drinks start at about $20 a piece. For the price the drinks were, okay, but you're mainly paying for the upscale atmosphere, and the beautiful view out on the patio. This is one of those hidden gem cocktail spots, which not a lot of residents in Detroit simply know about. If you're headed to downtown Detroit, and looking for a nice place to impress a date for cocktails, this would be strike number one.

We had a private rooftop and a penthouse which was very nice and it had a great view. My party had fun and the staff was very nice. What brings the place down is two things. First the leadership is garbage, very non hospitable and non empathetic, the staff again was great it wasn’t them it was the managers. And second the food, over priced and not good quality. A few of us got upset stomachs. I don’t recommend this place at all unless you just want to have a drink and have a nice view.

The best and classiest rooftop bar in Detroit. Amazing cocktails and appetizers. The view of the city is wonderful and perfect at night.

Rating based on view and drink service. Had a pint of draft craft beer ($5-$6) and an old fashioned ($12). Well made drink. Service was top notch. Sat on the patio on a Wed evening around 5. Both of us were able to score a small table. Gets busy fast. Cannot reserve any seats on the main patio. Nice fire pit in the back corner.

The place was amazing! Food, atmosphere and service. Then this! This is my friends post. I was with them but I paid cash. So I’m just curious...is it common practice for The Monarch Club to double and/or triple charge their customers’ credit/debit cards without their knowledge or authorization? Just asking for myself and friends? The credit receipts we signed were correct. However, verifying my bank account today I was charged over $200 with additional charges I never signed for. Checking with the rest of the group, another person was charged $400 additional charges! And another was double her bill. Tried to reach The Monarch Club multiple times today with no answer. What’s going on Monarch Club??? How do we correct this immediately?

Everytime I come here I have a fantastic experience. From the moment I step off the elevator to when I say my goodbye, it’s amazing. The Whitefish Patè is excellent. The blood orange sorbet is rich. But what blows everything away are the phenomenal bar staff. These bartenders pull from a wide range of experience and a wealth of knowledge to serve you something you didn’t even know you wanted. They all carry good conversation as well. Katrel is probably by far the best bartender in the City of Detroit and The Monarch Club is one of the best bars in the world.

Drinks and food took absolutely forever to make it to our table. Drinks are ok. Food was below average. Both food and drinks taste better due to the view from the patio. You don’t come here for the food and drinks, you come here for the view. Our server Jenny was fantastic!

The Monarch Club Detroit is the perfect venue for an absolutely magical night! My colleagues and I were all visiting from out of town and were given the warmest Detroit welcome to the Monarch Club from the Executive Chef. The Chef, along with the rest of the staff were incredibly accommodating and allowed us to have the most delightful evening. The Monarch Club is beautifully decorated on the inside, and the outside has the most stunning views of the city of Detroit. The building is historic and has such interesting architecture. We all enjoyed old fashions and really loved the food that we tried: truffle fries, burrata, lamb meatballs, pork belly Bao buns, flatbread and more! It was all delicious. This is the perfect venue for a date, a small gathering or a private event. 10 out of 10 recommend!

Patronized Monarch Club on Sunday, 9/6. Had a 9:30pm reservation, arrived shortly before. We were seated on the north side of the roof overlooking Woodward. There was only one waiter assigned to the area (COVID, I get it, probably short staffed and trying to make due). Waiter was a younger kid, came to our table multiple times. He needed to come to our table so much because he kept forgetting 1) to take our order and 2) our actual drink order. By the time we got our drink it was 10:02 (closes at 10pm), so he brought the check with the drinks. It was $29.00. Paid with credit card and left $5 tip for $34.00 total and signed the check. Next time I check my bank app I see that I was charged $39.00, so the tip was doubled. I called management on 9/8 and explained the situation. The woman I spoke with was very nice and apologized. I received a voicemail from her on 9/9 saying that she followed up with the account manager and assured me that the extra $5 charge would be reversed and to give it 72 hours or so to process. Today is 10/15 and I've yet to see a $5 credit on my card. I don't need an extra $5, but I do need businesses I support to not commit fraud. I have chosen not to include the employees names.

This was a great experience with excellent service. We tried the hot chocolate cocktail and 2 others. The hot chocolate was delicious! Also ordered the crudites plate - it was a lot of food for $18 with a great variety.

Awesome cocktail bar with a great view! I found that their original cocktails were tastier than the classics they had on the menu. Cocktails pictured: daiquiri, Recess Refresh (my favorite), and Bad Entropy. I liked that you go up to the bar to order cocktails and pay there, instead of ordering and paying at your table. The vibe is very casual; you’re free to move around the different areas (two different sides to the rooftop and two different rooms inside) as you wish. A great place to spend an evening.

Excellent cocktails and perhaps the best view from a patio in the city (and three to choose from!). Works well even in the wintertime with their fire pits and heaters.

Great atmosphere! Couldn't find a drink to fit me for my taste, but the bartender made a great drink for me. Great place to stop for drinks for a date night.

This place is way too hype. Impossible to get reservations or seating. Barely anyone even in the place, yet service can never take your order or bring a drink within 20 minutes. Can't stand at the bar bc of covid which is fine...but then have your service prepared. Kitchen closes so early. Why have a hotel bar and restaurant if they don't want to serve food and drinks? Awesome view.

TMC is the best rooftop in Detroit hands down. We’ve had great experiences since they opened in 2019, but the current manager, Jasmine, has gone above and beyond in all aspects. Under her management the staff is so welcoming and the new food items are fantastic. This is definitely the top luxury rooftop in downtown Detroit thanks to Jasmine!

So this is WOW Beautiful interiors Very FINE The views are worth the prices. I'm so thankful I had the opportunity to see this. Small plates and cocktails. But the true dish is the view.

One of the best views in all of Detroit. Reservations are suggested amd usually needed to get past the door. I didn't make the time to eat or drink, but the atmosphere is superior.

We spent our 35th anniversary at the Element Hotel and had drinks at the Monarch Club. It was a excellent choice, we had Nicolas as our bartender and he did not disappoint. Excellent craft cocktails - I had the paper plane and my wife had the Monarch Old Fashion; both were excellent. We also enjoyed a couple glasses of champagne on the house for our anniversary. Nice touch! We will be back for sure!

My sister and I had such a lovely time sipping classically crafted cocktails, indulging in their wine list (some crispy, dry Michigan whites or the reds from Detroit Vineyards would be GREAT to see on the wine list though!! LOVED the glassware!), snacking, lingering in the dimly lit, intimate bar area, tower, and amazing rooftop verandas and we finished our visit off with an espresso. I loved the vibe, our server was so lovely, and we made some memories for sure. I can't wait to swing back in for a couple solo mid week cocktails and to bring out of town visitors to wow them with the views and show off the city from the top. Really awesome spot!!

As a Detroit local I have enjoyed TMC in the past. What’s not to love with beautiful views and tasty cocktails. My last trip was overly disappointing though. Our server was distracted and aloof from the moment she sat us. The resturant was not busy so there was no reason for this. A sober member of our party asked specifically about mocktails, as there is one listed on the menu, and she recommended him bourbon. To make matters worse, less than an hour into our reservation (9:20pm) we were informed it was last call, and that we must order immediately if we wanted anything else. Please do not waste your time or money here. There are much more enjoyable restaurats and cocktail bars in the area, especially for the price.

This is one of my favorite places to go in Detroit because I always feel so well taken care of. Aesthetically, it's a beautiful vibe and the best view in the city. I've had KT as my bartender and he's an absolute gem. Makes THE BEST drinks, and is so creative with mocktails for those who don't drink. Mike has been my waiter a few times and he was great - always attentive and on top of the needs of the group. And of course, the hostesses are always super sweet and welcoming! Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the menu options for food are limited.

  • 5/5 Mark H. 1 year ago on Google
Absolutely fantastic views of downtown Detroit. The staff there specially Josh are sooper kind and will help you explore cocktails you never thought you wanted or needed. The NA cocktails Josh made we’re out of this freaking world. 13/10 would go back.

Simply put - if you haven’t been, you need to go. Monarch is by far my favorite spot to enjoy a cocktail and view in Detroit and you cannot beat sitting fireside while overlooking Woodward, Fox, Opera house, Comerica, Ford Field, and the DAC all from the same patio!

  • 5/5 Thomas H. 1 year ago on Google

A high-end rooftop bar with beautiful views of the city as well an outdoor terrace with a fireplace. There's no standing room option here, so reservations are a must.

  • 5/5 Brandon T. 1 year ago on Google
Awesome views of Downtown Detroit. Be sure to make a reservation. I have gotten lucky and walked in and have been seated right away though. I guess it just depends on how busy of a day/night it is. Great craft cocktails and small plates.
