Cocktails were good, food was great, service sucked. We sat at a table in front of the fireplace which was nice and cozy. I saw that they didn’t have many vodka based drinks so I asked if they could make one of the non-alcoholic cocktails with vodka and the server said “vodka is a pretty boring spirit” and suggested a rum daiquiri? not sure why when i said i wanted a cocktail with vodka and also felt weird after ordering it because of what he said about my choice in liquor. If you know how to make a good cocktail with vodka it’s not boring. Also WAY over priced for the drink which made the experience even worse. The price for non alcoholic part didn’t even reflect the price on our receipt. I will say the cocktail was good but definitely not worth the $25 I paid for it. My boyfriend got their mezcal based cocktail that was good too, little heavy on the soda water but still good. The deviled eggs with truffle though were fantastic. We won’t be back but if you like being kind of offended and charged more than you should be for good cocktails this is your place. I was not blown away by the cocktails though.

Love the vibe here! Dimly lit, moody, and sexy. We were lead to the bar by a hotel staff member through the swanky Shinola hotel corridors. Inside, the music was bumping but soft enough where I didn’t need to raise my voice to have a conversation. The lobster rolls (3) were delicious, and our waiter was attentive. It was the perfect place to get some drinks and small bites on a rainy day before the theatre. You can make a resy on their website!

If you can get a seat, the vibe is nice. I've been here about 4 times. The last time I went, I had a reservation for 11:45pm. I arrived at about 9pm to see if the three of us could get a table, and they said no. We decided to bar hop downtown Detroit until it was time. We returned at about 11:35 and waited for our table. There were a group of 3 in front of us, who, when asked if they had a reservation, said "no". They were seated anyway. At 11:45pm, we were told that they would not be able to seat us for the night despite our reservation. I asked if we could get a reservation for another night instead, and they said they couldn't do that for us either. So you tell me. Does this deserve 1 star instead? Poor hosting service and management. Good food. Good drinks.

I visited Evening Bar about a week ago, place was absolutely packed in part due to it being a Sunday and Memorial Day Weekend. I still managed to get reservations for my date and I, we both enjoyed ourselves a lot. The drink menu was fantastic, will be back to try the food they have as well soon. Overall cute little spot inside the Shinola Hotel.

Great drinks. It was fun watching the bartenders make them too. Service was good too. But when they say small plates, they mean small. Ribs were pretty good, but 3 little riblets for $19. I’d go back for the drinks and service though.

I love evening bar, it’s a true gem! The bar staff is always so personable and the amazing host always ensures we’re accommodated, even when I forget to reserve ahead. Living downtown, I’ve been coming since this place opened, and bring all my friends from near and far because the vibe never disappoints. Menu changes, and the cocktails are literally the best in the city, even when they freestyle a mix for me. For bites, I love the fries and lobster rolls. I just visited on Friday 10/27 and want to shoutout the entire staff! We sat at the bar and were served great cocktails, music, and laughs. You all made for the perfect end to the evening for my family and I! We’ll be back soon!

The bartenders are super knowledgeable and fun to chat with! We enjoyed sitting at the bar sipping on a couple well crafted cocktails. Would recommend making a reservation since the place is quite small. Lovely little hotel bar!

Took a chance to get seats here after 11pm without a reservation and got lucky as it was crowded, but there were a few open seats along the wall. Service here was outstanding, and cocktails were great. Great atmosphere inside with upscale feel. Bartenders were excellent, and our server made great suggestions/recommendations based on our preferences. Would def visit again next time I'm in Detroit.

Definitely have your phone out so you can read the menu. Low lighting lamps were not placed close enough to our seating for us to read the menu with ease. The fries were "meh". They needed more of the herb seasoning on them but the dipping sauce was great. Drinks were excellently made and tasty. Service was ok. There was only 1 waitress so things took a bit. You definitely feel like your in a 1920s speakeasy which is pretty cool. All they need is a small stage for a band. Bathrooms are not easy to get to as they are in the attached hotel. MAKE A RESERVATION!

Speakeasy style bar with a theme consistent with what you may see from a mobster movie or the Great Gatsby. Fun, intimate decor. Large selection of various spirits, wine, and mixed drinks. Despite its high-end appearance, very reasonable prices. As someone who likes to try something different, I gave a dirty martini with stuffed olives a whirl. DELICIOUS. Great place whether you’re looking to do a work team outing or date night.

Hhhhhmmmmm??? It’s very dark in here. I realized they keep it dark so you can’t see the tiny pour of overpriced bourbon. 5 tiny wings for $20, little fried olives were $18. Not even a speakeasy vibe, disappointed. The hotel here is very nice with great service, so that’s a bright spot.

This is my favorite bar in the downtown area. The drinks are always made well. This time we ordered a Moscow mule and pinot noir. But we also love the music and atmosphere. It’s inside the Shinola Hotel so it’s very intimate, almost like a speakeasy. It’s dimly lit and has a very sophisticated aesthetic. This upscale vibe invites you to dress up to match the energy although there’s no dress code. It’s a sit-down bar that takes reservations (they also take walk ins but wouldn’t recommend) so there’s no one ever bumping into you and it’s never overcrowded. For music you’ll hear everything from Frank Ocean to Rihanna to Prince. It’s a perfect spot to start or end your night.

Awesome spot for some late night cocktails and conversation. I really like the low key elegant vibes and our party had a great time.

I really enjoy the whole "speakeasy" vibe. Evening bar is a hidden gem inside of the Shinola hotel. It dimly lit and has retro decor which contributes to that feeling. The staff is great... (I recommend sitting at the bar to get the best service.) Liz and Mike were Amazing last time I was there. Not only do they take pride in making their cocktails into pieces of art, but they were also very personable, funny and had good taste in music. The music was great but not too loud that you need to shout to be heard by your party. I didnt get any food as I came for a few after dinner drinks but it looked good too. Make sure that you make a reservation or get there before peak hours because the venue is pretty small and fills up quickly. I want to give this place the due it deserves, but I also don't want it to become too popular because people ruin good things. Lol

The atmosphere is very relaxing and chill, the small bites menu had a good variety and there's a good drink menu. Not a lot of options for beer drinkers and if you are s wine drinker it's going to be rather expensive, but the quality of wine and spirits are worth the price. Perfect little spot for a date night.

Great spot to grab a few drinks. The bar is very intimate with the best vibe - low lighting, good music, great staff, and comfortable seats. This is a must see when visiting the city. I would encourage making a reservation beforehand as well.
