This is a great example of a small, specialized, volunteer-run aviation museum. As the space started life as a flight training school in the second World War, they have a number of rare, vintage trainers - plus a couple of other significant aircraft.

This place is a Hidden Gem in the city of Windsor. With an amazing tour and veterans walking around, reminding you of things they did during the war, this museum is absolutely amazing. I recommend this to anyone who visits Windsor and wants to learn about the history of this great City. The connection to the second world war end to Pilots being trained, it's an amazing way to get connected to the city. With to full restoration is being conducted currently, it's an amazing place to see a part of history and to touch aircraft that have been in combat. I recommend this tour to anyone of any age. Hours of operation are limited throughout the winter season. But summer hours are a full 5 days open.

Small, but the staff are very friendly, and the volunteers that are rebuilding historic vehicles are very nice and take time to explain all the details of the rebuilds

We spent hours in this wonderful museum. The display of aircraft and artifacts is amazing. We were lucky to have met one of the folks restoring the De Havilland Mosquito aircraft and he took the time to explain in detail the work they've put into restoring this wooden wonder! There are kid friendly displays and there are a couple of aircraft you can 'fly' in simulator mode, that was so much fun!

I was skeptical of how fun a tour would be as I never took interest in aviation and this museum seemed insignificant, but the guides here are not your average guides, the history here does have significance, and the history here put tears in full grown men. The guides here know the history of not only aviation but deep knowledge of history and museums across the US and Canada. As you walk around, volunteers will be building planes in the center. You can tell that your guide isn't the typical museum guide who learned about the museum from textbooks. Simulators with advanced technologies for their day, souvenirs collected by pilots from around the world, affordable flights over scenic city & natural views, simulators that help visitors experience flight training, indoor and outdoor areas - really incredible history. Thank you Larry.

I really enjoyed my visit to the Canadian Aviation Museum. There's a nice balance between airworthy aircraft and restoration projects. Nice to see the progress on the Lancaster and Mosquito projects. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The day we were there they had a Harvard, Chipmunk and Stearman flying. Great to watch them taxi out fir their flight. Highly recommended!

Really enjoyed my visit to this unique space. The history and stories behind the exhibits were very informative and intriguing. Our tour guide Keleen (think that was her name), was very friendly and interactive. The staff and persons working there were all friendly and tool time out of working on planes to chat with us. One highlight was meeting Ron,an ex pilot who has a plane in his honour on display. He was so amiable and you can see his passion and satisfaction from years in aviation. The display areas were good and the "Bad Penny" story really resonated. Had to get the book. Excellent learning opportunity for teaching history if you are an educator as well.

Small but great place. My wife and I showed up about 45 minutes before closing and they happily gave us a tour. They have several restoration projects going and welcomed us to take as many pictures as we wanted. Also, all the work being done is by volunteers who are passionate about Canadan aviation history.

Enjoyed talking with the folks at the Aviation Museum. Didn't know that you can book flights in their restored planes. Planning to do that one day.

Fun! Less of a museum than a restoration workshop but that just made it all the more interesting. They had a disassembled WW2-era Lancaster bomber in the process of restoration as well as a Vickers Air Canada fright simulator circa 1960s you can plunk down in. Not a big space, but a fascinating one.

What an experience! Went with the kids for the first time, and we loved the tour! We learned so much about the airplanes used during the World War and the most inspiring stories on how the restoration of some of these airplanes is taking place by volunteers! I highly recommend taking your kids here. They had so much fun with the simulators and also the gift shop has many options for the little ones to choose from. There are plenty of free parking spaces outside.

Excellent museum with friendly staff dedicated to keeping history alive and honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Well worth the 600 mile trip to not only meet the staff, but take an Honour Flight in the Harvard.

Great place to learn about Canadian aviation history. A great chance to see the hard working volunteers restoring the Lancaster and building the Mosquito. Last night they held an event for the reading of The Shephard.

Although a small museum. But quite a history in there. Also they are trying to renovate some older planes. You can also fly some of them with an instructor but need to book ahead of time

Awesome place with, a fair price, around 11 CAD, and you can have the opportunity to fly in one of the planes with an expert pilot for a good price

This place is more than just planes. Lot of history and story to know about WW2, the planes and facility here. One gets to see restoration work too as many retired and knowledgeable individuals are working hands-on in several restoration projects. The guides here are not just any other narrators, they bring the soul out of the story/plane - very detail oriented for an engineer or knowledgeable visitor. David was our guide and very glad he toured us. Appreciate it.

Great collection of historic aircraft in static displays, while being refurbished, and that you can ride! The best part of our visit was the people who work and volunteer their time to share the stories of the collection and their passion for preserving these legendary legacies. We expected to be there a couple of hours; we were happy to continue exploring right up until closing time.

A fantastic museum! They are a great group of dedicated volunteers restoring and preserving some very important WWII aircraft. I have been following their efforts to restore a Lancaster bomber (to static display condition) on Facebook and was glad to finally make the trip down to the museum. To see firsthand the great effort and hard work they are putting into that magnificent aircraft was quite overwhelming. While walking into the hanger for the first time, I was completely floored to discover that they also are in the midst of restoring a Mosquito bomber! It looks fantastic and I've already joined their Facebook group to get regular updates on it too. The museum also has plenty of flying aircraft in their collection as well. A DeHavilland Tiger Moth and a Chipmunk, a Boeing Stearman and a North American Harvard. All in all, I had a great visit and will definitely be back!

I had an amazing experience flying with the Canadian Aviation Museum in Windsor, ON. The staff were incredibly friendly and kind, making the entire experience even more enjoyable. I highly recommend the Honour Flight with aerobatics for anyone looking for a memorable aviation adventure. In addition to the fantastic flight, the historical aviation items on display in the hangar are truly fascinating. It's like taking a step back in time, and I highly recommend exploring these exhibits as well.

We chose the Canadian Aviation Museum for a wedding rehearsal party on August 18th. It was amazing! The bride and groom were thrilled with the venue and the guests were excited about the unique wedding rehearsal idea. We began our event with drinks followed by a tour for our group. We had a family member who flew in the Lancaster bomber during the Second World War as a mid-upper gunner, so we were very interested in the Lancaster and the restoration project. It is also part of the reason we chose this venue. Dave, our guide took us behind the scenes to show us the restoration of the rear gunner turret and shared what that experience would have been like for the crew. After our tour we had dinner inside the hangar on a perfect summer evening with the hangar door open to the tarmac and three restored airplanes; the Harvard, the Chipmunk, and the Stearman on display. Later in the evening our guests were able to watch the pilots prepare the three planes and take off for a memorial flight. It was a very special evening for all of us and throughly enjoyed by all. The volunteers at the museum ensured the entire event was a tremendous success. A huge thank you to Mary and all of the volunteers at Canadian Aviation Museum for an amazing evening. I encourage anyone looking for a unique venue for any large or small private, family or corporate event to consider the Canadian Aviation Museum.
