We arrived half an hour before closing time. The very annoyed looking 'madame' at the desk refused to sell us tickets to the gardens even though there was not a word about such policy - it was only stated that the last admission of tickets into the interiors would be 45min before closing time. No word about exteriors. They showed a total lack of willingness. Thus we could not see anything of the chateau which might have been beautiful...

I went to this chateau only because it was close to where I was and it was on the paper map I picked up. But it was seriously an amazing chateau!! The story of Bussy and the paintings around the inside of the chateau was fascinating and it was a really beautiful building. The gardens were pretty, the staff really helpful and friendly and it was altogether a lovely 2 hours spent wandering around. Highly recommended

They were renovating, so we couldnt visit the entire castle. It definitely needs some more work but it is still a nice visit for when you're in the area

Having visited Versailles and Fontainebleau, we wanted to visit Bussy Rabutin as it was linked to Louis 14th. It was absolutely wonderful and we spent a very pleasant couple of hours looking around the Chateau and the gorgeous rooms. The gardens are quite small but the maze is fun!

May 18, 2019 under renovation- 80% closed to public, tarps cover large portion of exterior, still charge full admition fee [if you can find this place by car you are very intrepid]. Comparing this Chateau [even if completely restored] to Versailles is laughable

Under some restoration works, the Chateau is still an interesting sight to visit if in the Burgundy region. The entrance fee is reasonable and includes a Guide. On Sunday, 26 June the afternoon the tour was guided by a young enthusiastic and knowledgeable fellow. Unfortunately, did not have the time to get his name. The visit was very interesting with an insight of the owner of the castle, customs, and people of the epoch. It will be a most to come back to see the whole castle restored to its past glory. The garden is not than expansive but is well kept and a great addition.

If you love baroque French châteaus and gardens nestled in a little Burgundian valley this is for you. Tre magnifique!

Fantastic chateau, owned by Roger de Bussy Rabutin. He was exiled to the Chateau by Louis XIV in 1666 after writing a book about the Kings affairs. It's open every day in the morning and afternoon. 8euros for an adult to tour the house and garden. English pamphlet and French guide. Free parking, toilets and small gift shop.
