Friendly, helpful , talkative staff. I would have given 5 stars based solely on how friendly they were. The ride up and down the gondola was beautiful. The mountain walk was also breathtaking. Paths were clean and well maintained, and easy to navigate. Note: they are not accessible, however, all of the observation decks are accessible. The building was clean and maintained, cute little theatre with movie playing every 15 minutes or so, and a neat little museum type area for kids to learn about the wildlife in Banff. It was great to have access to clean bathrooms while up on the mountain as well. Excellent experience and we would absolutely do it again .

Went on my birthday with a friend. Amazing experience. I can just simply say WOW! Gondola ride was exceptional, it was worth spending money. I had a bad experience as i forgot to display my parking ticket on car’s dashboard. I realized my mistake when i was already on top. Excellent customer service and gondola ride ticket associate allowed me to go down again to rectify my mistake and didn’t cost me anything. I was very thankful to that lady. She made my day. Awesome views. There was sulphur mountain cosmic ray station on top of the mountain. View was fantastic. Tickets are easily available online and parking ticket is very cheap for this amazing experience. I would suggest to gear up before enjoying this thought provoking experience. Definitely going back again but this time with Family. Extra star for that extra ordinary customer service skill and consideration. Thank you.

With Covid going on, they are good at implementing the protocols. I was there on a weekday so not really much of a crowd. Staff are very helpful. Smooth ride. Once up there, there’s a lot information to soak in. There’s even trails too. It was a very nice visit if not only for the strong winds. I’ll definitely go up there again during summer time!

Our tickets were already bought and so it was very easy and fast to hop on the gondola. Everything was very organised. The views from the top are breathtaking and I highly recommend taking the very easy boardwalk (it's about 1km, well maintained and not slippery or anything like that). There are several restaurants available, but we didn't try them as we had just about 1h before continuing our trip. We came here twice and it was cool but not cold. A bit windy today, but with a light windbreaker we were fine. Lovely! Definitely come here 👍

Banff Gondola was on the family adventure bucket-list for me and it didn't disappoint. My kids were thrilled with the dizzying heights, my wife was just dizzy. The rides up and down were smooth and exhilarating. At the top, there was lots to see and read. The building has been wonderfully renovated since the last time i was here. Everything is pricey at the top so be prepared. We had a great time. The facilities are very well maintained. Highly recommend the Banff Gondola.

The ride on the way up is so beautiful and so awe inspiring. But that part is only just the beginning of an amazing experience! Once you get at the top, everywhere you look offers spectacular views! It really looks like you background is a painting. It so surreal. I could stay there for hours. Unfortunately, you have a limit of two hours if I’m not mistaken. For most people, that would be enough but I would love to just sit on those benches and read a good book. That would be very relaxing.

10/10, stunning, can't recommend enough, worth every penny. Do the walk to the weather station lookout if you can, even if you don't know if you can you should try. The boardwalk is constructed so well and has many places to stop, sit, rest and soak up the views, every section gives you a bit more to see. We enjoyed a couple of beers at the beautiful Sky House before heading back down. I also really liked that they let you and your party ride up and down alone and didn't cram strangers in the same gondola car.

Worth every penny. We arrived there in the morning, made reservations online. Was greeted by a parking attendant. Line up was easy and seamless. Gondolas fit 4 people max at a time. The views were breathtaking. There is a trail they build to the apex of the mountain and it is crazy. Bundle up this time of year it can get cold and windy. There’s plenty of space inside at the top with ab educational floor, souvenir shops, and cafes/restaurants.

What an amazing experience! The tickets are quite steep at the gate. Better buy from pursuit - much cheaper bundled options. The facility is very nice and washrooms are clean. Very nice gift shop as well. The gondola ride itself is smooth and very enjoyable. You get stunning views of the Banff. It gets colder when you get to the very top. Such scenic site!

Awesome experience and viewpoints of Banff. During our hour at the stop we had sun, rain, snow, and a rainbow. The ride itself is surprisingly smooth, and when you get to the top the is activities indoor and out for you to do. If you’re up for a hike, the walk to the viewpoint is a lot of stairs, but worthwhile. If not, doing a lap around the the building is enough to give you great views. We got coffee and some snacks while taking in the sights. We bought our tickets in advance and arrived early. Parking lot was fairly full, but we found spots. They let us up a little early which was nice. Base station has a Starbucks, Gift Shop and washroom.

Well worth a visit. Fantastic views all around. Also there is an interactive walk through museum which is well worth a walk through. The gondola ride also offers great views. We got there for 09.00 so was able to park in the car park area. However by the time we got down at 11.20, it was full with a queue down the road. The best thing then is to get the local shuttles from Banff town centre.

Such an amazing experience. The gondola is pretty quick, and if you're afraid of heights like I am, it's not too bad. The total time on the gondola itself is 8 minutes. After that, the experience at the top station is great. There's a lot of history there. We weren't able to eat at the restaurant unfortunately, so can't say much about that. The hike to the weather station summit is amazing. We did it at sunset, which was the absolutely perfect time to do. The colors on the mountains and forest were brilliant. Overall, just go and do it.

Wonderful experience. Good security in gondola. My kid and my friend’s kid loving this. Well maintained floor and paths. Lots of chipmunks. We took gondola ride during sunset in sulphur mountain. A cutie patio also there along with small gift shop. Only thing - it is pricey.

The gondola ride is a must do in Banff. I did not expect to go up so high but the view at the top and on the way up was so amazing! Everywhere you look you’re surrounded by the Rocky’s. The ride in the gondola was pretty smooth with great views. Once at the top there’s a gift shop, coffee shop and restaurant. The observation deck had hand warmer fire outs and a board walk that takes you out into the mountains. Overall a great experience, it was just a little pricey.

Great experience! We got first tickets of the morning and glad we did, the parking lot was half full when we arrived at 9:50am. (It was a Saturday and Easter weekend, so notably busy). The staff were kind and it was easy to find the spot. There is a Starbucks in the lower gondola area, I would have come earlier and grabbed a coffee there for waiting in the line! We got in the line right about 10:00 and boarded a gondola around 10:15. The ride up was smooth but you definitely go higher than I anticipated, not for people scared of heights! Once at the top our toddler had lots to do running around the explorer center and when the sun came out we took a walk on the boardwalk which had the most incredible views. We had lunch at Sky View restaurant which was pricey but really great service and pretty good food. The views were the best part! The ride down was smooth as well. Overall I highly recommend as a half-day attraction for anyone visiting Banff!

Although it was a cloudy day due to snow, the parking was easy, and there were plenty of spots to choose from. It was Oct 25, so the time of the year helped!. The 8-minute ride up to the top of Sulfur Mountain was incredible! You can explore 4 floors as there are plenty of lookout spots and interactive information within the building and 2 restaurants. Highly recommend booking this. We purchased tickets in advance.

The Banff Gondola is a must-visit attraction in the heart of the Canadian Rockies. Its primary draw is undoubtedly the spectacular views it offers of the surrounding natural beauty. As you ascend in the gondola, you're treated to breathtaking panoramic vistas of the rugged mountain landscapes, lush forests, and crystal-clear lakes. The scenery alone makes it a top-notch experience for nature enthusiasts and photography aficionados. But let's talk about the extras that make the Banff Gondola even more appealing. I was delighted to discover that they have a coffee shop on-site, and during the fall season, they offer a variety of seasonal favorites, like maple everything. As an American I love maple everything and appreciate this! What's even better is that they cater to different dietary preferences, including non-dairy options, ensuring that everyone can enjoy a warm beverage with their awe-inspiring views. The Banff Gondola isn't just a ride; it's an immersive experience that combines the thrill of ascending the mountain with the tranquility of nature. Whether you're a coffee lover seeking fall flavors or simply yearning for unforgettable vistas, this attraction ticks all the right boxes for a memorable visit.

Very nice facility. No wait on a Friday night in early September. A smooth ride to the top. Great views all around. I appreciated that they had tables with fires in the middle to warm your hands. The night I was there, there was live music which was very good! There is a rooftop area for food and drinks but very pricey. I highly recommend going on the gondola ride. My only problem was that the bus that picked me up in downtown Banff was not running very frequently by the time I was ready, after sunset, to go back down. They were happy to call a cab for me and some other folks that didn't want to wait 30 min for the next bus. Overall a great experience.

Really nice ride up. Food was surprisingly good. Try the steak fries and the smoke old fashion is recommended.

  • 5/5 Daphne L. 2 years ago on Google
The online booking and checking in processes are smooth; the parking spots are tight though. Make sure to call ahead of time to verify their operation hours as they sometimes change it due to weather of staffing issues. The boardwalk to the weather station is very accessible, and make sure to read the information boards on the 2nd floor, a lot of incredible stories about the early mountaineers. We are not comfortable dining in due to covid but hopefully we can return in the future.

Amazing views from the top. The gondola ride is essentially a private ride to the top and quite a thrill. The place is well run and managed. You will likely get a peek at some cut wildlife at the top too! Loved it.

  • 5/5 Newaz C. 2 years ago on Google
Now they do require you to provide the proof of vaccination and an ID to go with it, which is totally understandable now a days. Try to buy the ticket beforehand online as it gets quiet busy there. The whole experience with the gondola is very enjoyable as you get to enjoy the amazing scenery of the mountains and the town of Banff. You can take the small trek (15 to 20mins) to the old weather tower from 1930s. You can point your camera to any directions and it is guaranteed to get an amazing picture. It’s is physically not possible to take bad picture from there.

  • 5/5 Marta B. 2 years ago on Google
Such a gorgeous view from the top of the gondola. You can walk around the wooden boardwalk at the top and see different mountain peaks. Haven’t been UP in a few years but the ride up isn’t too long, the gondola one in Squamish is much longer. When you hike up, the ride down for you used to be free, but as the comment below shows that is no longer the case. Lots of parking.

Breathtaking views, that make everything else pale in comparison. Friendly and helpful staff to top it all off. Highly recommended for adventurers of all ages and abilities. The ride is pretty smooth. Very well worth it.

  • 5/5 Tommy 2 years ago on Google
Worth the price. Make sure you go early as parking gets full quickly. They book a time for you to head back down. I recommend 1.5 hrs. They only allow 4 adults per gondola. The view was beautiful but would be better if the weather was clearer.

  • 5/5 Violet 2 years ago on Google
A must-do in Banff National Park! Spectacular views of the mountains and the town. Breathtaking! The short hike to the cosmic ray station is a nice thing to do on top of Sulphur Mountain too, but just make sure you have your tickets handy upon entering back the observation deck. Tons of parking lot. Don’t forget to check out their gift shop! I was able to buy Adrian Klis leather wallets for BOGO half off! Such a good deal! Clean facilities. Highly recommended!

  • 5/5 Syeda F. 2 years ago on Google
It's completely worth riding Gondola and enjoy a mountaintop for sweeping views of surrounding peaks. The ride is absolutely safe for seniors, heart patients. It's something a whole family can enjoy together from children to seniors. You will find Starbucks inside the gift shop.

amazing experience to see a magnificent view

  • 5/5 Gary W. 2 years ago on Google
A wonderful activity for your family. Make sure you check out everything there is to see at the top. Pro tip - do not book online. Ticket prices range from 10-20 per person extra.

  • 5/5 Ivan T. 2 years ago on Google
Definitely a must go in the area. You get to see the town and the mountains. Although the price is around 60-70 bucks, I say it's still worth it. There's a small hike to the top of the mountain, definitely go there and take pictures. They also have great covid protocol, felt safe.

  • 5/5 Nada I. 2 years ago on Google
Beautiful ride up sulphur mountain! Gorgeous views of banff and surrounding mountains! There are some nice restaurants and a cafe on top of the mountain, and a great board walk to take pictures! It is very windy and cold on top of the mountain in the winter so dress well but the views are worth it!

  • 5/5 Kaijuu 2 years ago on Google
We got our tickets online ahead of time, so it was really easy to get in and up. The attendants were very friendly and welcoming. It gets chilly up there with the wind (about 10°C cooler), so make sure to layer up. There was only one restaurant open at the time but they don't serve food between 3pm and 4pm so we were SOL. The views are breathtaking and it wasn't too crowded (we were there 2pm to 4pm).

  • 5/5 Yossi L. 3 years ago on Google
The view is amazing and the food at the restaurant at the top is surprisingly excellent. Add that to your ticket, definitely.

  • 4/5 Anita 4 months ago on Google
This was a great experience! Parking was easy to find, the staff are all friendly. The gondola ride up the mountain was smooth. Didn’t realize how far we had to go up, but the views were amazing. Once at the top, you can choose to be inside or outside. Warm up with something from the coffee shop, and get souvenirs at the gift shop. The boardwalk outside give you some great views! We booked our ticket at our hotel right before going because there was a storm that was forecasted and the tickets are non refundable. There was no wait once we arrived. Just found it to be expensive.

The best experience you can have as tourist if you decided to visit Banff Gondola. 8 minutes ride on Gondola and you will pass 2.292 feet up. What a beautiful view of mountains. It is breathtaking how gorgeous natural around! On the top of mountain you can have a lot of different experience from little historical exhibition, theater, restaurant. Cold here, but cup of coffee will warm up!

  • 5/5 Paul M. 1 year ago on Google
Even though we had a cloudy day the sun did peek through a different times and the clouds did clear. It was obvious that some people that hiked up the mountain had a pretty clear path I'll be at early June it was still quite a bit of snow and water on the path and it appeared to be muddy in some places. We hike from the main building up to the weather observation station would provide a beautiful views of the valley below. A great and safe place for family. A very friendly staff made it even more pleasing.

  • 5/5 John W (. 1 year ago on Google
First, for the hesitant, I will tell you that the gondola ride up is smooth, not rocky and not noisy. It's a long ride, but it's not a scary ride. The views from the base are spectacular. They only get better as you go up. The gondola ride leaves you on one peak of the mountain. There's shopping and refreshments in a three story building at the top. There's a wooden trail that takes you to another peak that's even higher. But that's optional. You'll get a gazillion pictures every one as beautiful as the next.

  • 5/5 Laura M. 1 year ago on Google
It was a lot of fun. The majority of ppl spend about 1.5 hours up there. If you want to walk the hike up there, give yourself more time. Really lovely upper patio. Phenomenal views! They had a deal for families is you got there by a certain time. It might be worth getting tickets on advance for later in the day. It was busy by the time we left.

  • 5/5 Sidney T. 6 months ago on Google
Brilliant must see attraction in Banff! I hiked up beneath the gondola which took about 1hr30/2hrs. I would say it’s a pretty moderate beginner hike as there are some steep areas. But the experiences at the top are worth it, excellent views and services. Restaurants, bars and coffee shop at the top as well as a museum. All staff were friendly and helpful. Even offered to take a photo of me with the background

  • 5/5 Sun J. 6 months ago on Google
All the staff were kind, especially the staff who helped me board the gondola were all nice, and even though it was not clear weather, the normal view was so wonderful and ecstatic. The facilities were also clean and convenient. In particular, the video introducing Banff was as good as the movie. I promise to visit once again.

Wonderful experience! Sadly I was on crutches, but the staff there were amazing. Every single staff member checked on how I was doing, and made sure that I had access to the elevator, prompt access to doors, and that my experience in top of Sulphur Mountain was spectacular. Thank you to every single staff member there, from the beginning of checking our tickets, to the dining experience in the sky bistro, to being greeted when we got off the gondola. I can't thank the staff enough! Not a single staff member didn't help me - that's phenomenal and a huge success rate on the quality of staff that is currently employed. Thank you again!

It’s worth the money paid. We both got mesmerized with the view on top of the sulphur mountain and boardwalk. The staff members are very professional and they makes sure the pandemic safety precautions and protocols are in place and everybody follows it. Ofcourse, there were some people who didn’t wanted to follow those rules. I found used masks and bottles on the boardwalk not dumped to the waste bin, but have been kept on the floor. Perfect time to visit the place is past 6 pm. Both of us enjoyed our best. I didn’t even feel tiredness even though I drove at a stretch from Vancouver to Banff without any stopping. Probably because of the excitement. The photographer who took our photo is very professional. Though we booked our ticket for an earlier time, we couldn’t make it on time. But the staff said it’s alright and we didn’t even had to wait for our turn. Overall worthy and lovely experience.

If you go to the top make sure you have either eaten already or have dinner reservations. Bring a coat it's pretty chilly. Very busy and crowded and with covid regulations it's like a maze of arrows and roped off areas.

This was one of the most memorable experiences of my trip to Banff and one of the best experiences I’ve had in years. Yes, it wasn’t cheap but it was worth the admission. I purchased the gondola ride along with lunch at the Northern Lights Alpine Kitchen. The rides up and down were incredible, the food was absolutely delicious (I highly recommend the brisket) and the views were absolutely jaw dropping. If you’re going to Banff, you need to come here, ride the gondola, check out the exhibits and walk the boardwalks and trails over to the Cosmic Ray Station. The views up here are some of the best I’ve ever seen in my life.

Buy tickets online so you can avoid lines! Very pretty views. Remember to hold on to your hats on top of the mountain! My new hat got blown away when I stepped outside but luckily a gentleman helped me catch it! Remember to wear warm clothes when enjoying the stunning view! There’s also a little hike to the cosmic station where you can see the view on a higher peak!
