Finally found a restaurant in Dortmund who portrays Indian restaurant's ambiance. They have a good blend between Indian and German culture with look and feel of the restaurant. Onto pricing, yeah I would say it's on the costlier side but Indians who are missing out on their cuisine can opt to visit this place once in a while. I was told by the owner that the food they serve is not prepped to be that spicy as they want to attract more German people and make them try the Indian cuisine as German keep it mild and subtle with their taste pallets when it comes to hotness of their dish. Overall a must visit place for Indians to enjoy their meal and have all the nostalgic moments related to the food.

Ambiente: der Eingang liegt versteckt. angenehm eingerichtet, nicht zu voll bestuhlt, viele Leuchten aber nicht zu hell, entspannte indische Musik, der Duft von Räucherstäbchen liegt in der Luft guter Service, zurückhaltend aber aufmersam Speisen: als Hors d‘Oeuvre gibt’s Naan mit verschiedenen Saucen. die klare Linsensuppe ist würzig (Koriander, Kreuzkümmel…) das Chicken Jalfrezi kommt im Pfännchen auf Stövchen, dazu Gemüsereis & Safranreis. Der Safranreis hebt den Geschmack der Sauce auf eine andere Ebene! mittelscharf ist eine gute Schärfe Alles in Allem äußerst delikat Preis-Leistung sehr gut

Meine Frau und ich waren gestern (Samstag) gegen 18.30 Uhr im Royal Tandoori. Wir hatten keine Reservierung, bekamen aber dennoch einen Tisch, weil es nicht zu voll war. Die Vorspeise Dips waren schon sehr lecker und viel. Als Hauptgerichte hatten wir Chicken Tika Massala und Chicken Madras bestellt, das erste scharf und das zweite mittelscharf. Beide Gerichte waren sehr lecker und gut gewürzt, auch das Knoblauch Naan war super. Der Kellner war äußerst höflich und zuvorkommend. Wir hatten wirklich nichts zu bemängeln.

Sehr schöne Atmosphäre sehr gepflegt sehr schöne Ambiente. TOP Essen sehe sehr lecker der beste Mango Lassie. 1. Chicken Curry NR. 34 super lecker 2. Beef madras Nr.53 3. Vorspeise 3 Eck Taschen kann ich echt empfehlen

Food: 3.5/5 It's ok ok. I tried the Shahi l Panner and chicken Tikka masala. Both were medium to good taste. Naan / Garlic Naan could be more softer and thinner. North Indian taste was not obtained but definitely not a bad one. Can try once.

The restaurant is super cozy and beautifully decorated. My dinner was excellent (I had the chicken tikka masala and some garlic naan) served by a very nice and competent staff. I will definitely come back next time I visit Dortmund.

We planned a small get together event at this restaurant. The staff were friendly and the food was prepared as per our requirements. All the dishes were delicious. I will definitely recommend this restaurant.

This place is a hidden gem in a sub urban shopping street. Very nice amosphere, friendly and attentive service and great food. The waiter helped us to find some very pleasant dishes that were not spicy yet creamy and flavorful. Will definitely come back and try more at next visit Dortmund!

The ambience is great, service is superb, overall you can spend nice time but the food is not OK. We have ordered mixed grill where veg onion stuff which was not good has been served more than 5 pieces which was not expected but other items like fish, chicken also not that good. Rice is little sweet and in chicken Madra curry though the curry is spicy but the chicken pieces are not at all boiled. Perhaps they made it to German standards but not the standard for typical South Indians. I recommend to visit once but not worth to go again..

The waiter was very down to earth and his service was good, except that the dishes recommended by him especially "Paneer Tikka Masala" was not good at all. We could taste raw onions in the tadka gravy. Naan was not authentic Indian Naan. Overall, i can say it was not authentic Indian taste, at least for vegetarian dishes.

Best indian food. Seems there is a new chef and making awesome food. For vegeterian, paneer curries/ sabji are best. Dal makhani is awesome. For dessert never miss gulab jamoon.

We had organised a get-together for around 50 People in this Restaurant on last Sunday and it was very succesful. The staff were very nice and co-operative (esp. Mr. Raja), food was nicely prepared and served.

Das indische Restaurant liegt in einer Fußgängerzone. Im Gebäude muss man noch gut 10m ins Gebäude hinein laufen bis man beim Restaurant ist. Es ist in diesem typisch, bunten Stil gehalten, was man mögen muss. Beim Eintreffen, das Restaurant war rechtvleer, fällt einem die Größe auf. Es wirkt zu groß für diesen Ort, es gibt sehr viele Tische, die, da alle leer, einer Bahnhofshalle ähneln. Vielleicht wäre es sinnvoll den Laden, wenn nicht voll belegt, zu verkleinern. Die Musik war nicht indisch und deutlich zu laut. Der Kellner war freundlich, aber nicht sehr aufmerksam. Es gab eine große Auswahl an Gerichten.. fast zuviel.. das essen wurde relativ schnell zubereitet und war geschmacklich OK. Jetzt könnte man drüber streiten, dascrs fort keinen Kaffee gab, oder kein alkoholfreies Radler. Aber stattdessen gab es ein Mango-Milchgetränk, was gut zum Essen passte. Das ist auch eine Empfehlung Preis Leistung war gut. Fazit: kann man hin gehen.

Das Essen war unglaublich lecker. Der Service sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Lustigerweise stand noch Weihnachtsdeko auf den Tischen 🤔. Wir kommen gerne wieder. Es gibt noch viele Gerichte zu probieren. Von uns eine klare Empfehlung!

Wir waren zum ersten Mal in diesem Restaurant und es hat uns gut gefallen. Tische sind so eingerichtet, dass es beim Sitzen nicht zu eng wird und man füllt sich wohl. Das Lokal liegt versteckt, man läuft an ihm vorbei, wenn man nicht gezielt danach sucht. Die Bedienung war sehr nett und fragte zwischendurch ob wir noch was wünschten, ohne aufdringlich zu sein. Das Essen ist geschmacklich sehr gut. Preis Leistungsverhältnis stimmt. Kartenzahlung ist möglich. Empfehlenswert

The place is really nice decorated. Friendly and helpful staff; we got one or two items as gift just to try. Big portions of food. Various options for vegetarians as well.

Have visited twice recently and had 2 great meals with friends. Highly recommended. Authentic Indian food, similar to UK standards but not quite so spicy.
