The old fortress moat, today the kennel pond, is a stagnant body of water. I think it's nice that it has been preserved or restored as a small oasis with a park around it. It is always clean and well maintained. A walk around the park is always worth it. You can watch fish here every summer and go ice skating in winter. About history; As part of the city's softening at the beginning of the 19th century, the ditch in front of the Zwinger was filled in by 1812. Only the pond in the western part remained. A parking area was created in front of the Kronentor around 1819. In the years 1924–1936 the ditch along Ostra Allee was restored. However, it was separated from the kennel pond by a land bridge. During the restoration in 1951, the Zwingergraben and Zwingerteich were connected so that the ditch and pond appear in their current form. The Zwingerschlösschen restaurant was located at the Zwingerteich from 1826 to 1945. Unfortunately, the ruins were demolished in 1960.

In the immediate vicinity of the square there is the Zwingergarten park and the pond Am Zwingerteich. A very amazing and beautiful place. It seems like a historical center, but at the same time a cozy and quiet corner of nature. Many city residents in the summer like to sit on the green lawn and admire the ducks swimming in the pond. Remember the monument to the "Seven Bastions", which is located on the Bruhl Terrace? So, the pond Am Zwingerteich is part of the bastion of the Moon that was once located here. The park is especially beautiful in the evening - you lie on the lawn and look into the infinitely blue sky, strewn with many yellow lights, mirrored in the waters of the Am Zwiegerteich. Eh, in one word - romance 🤗

What a beautiful town, beautiful architecture, just absolutely gorgeous! As a true and true Berlinerin, raised raised there, I just have to have a second home. And Steph there's no other than the beautiful Dresden which has so much history and authenticity.

A protected area located in the garden of the Zwinger Palace. In one word, it is magnificent. It gives people peace. It is a park area that should be visited in detail.

This pond can be found behind the Zwinger and the Semperoper. Many ducks populate the water. The water feature glows rainbow colors when the sun shines on it. A place to rest and dream.

An oasis of peace in the big city. Birds, nature and crickets. A welcome change, especially between shopping and sightseeing. My only suggestion for improvement: Both my husband and I thought the water tasted a little stale. But this strengthens the immune system. We'll definitely come back. With mineral water.
