We were in Dresden with my grandma (83) and 4 other grandchildren (15, 20, 26, 29) and didn't want the classic tour. We were greeted by an open-minded, stylishly dressed and open man who made it his goal to sweeten our day. We started at the opera and then quickly came to the focus of the excursion, the Zwinger. He pointedly incorporated the history of Dresden and its rulers and showed us little details in the architecture that I probably wouldn't have noticed if I had walked through the courtyard normally. Little by little we visited all the important stations in the city without anyone in the group getting bored or anyone looking around annoyed. Everyone was attentively hanging on his every word and in our other lives we hardly have anything to do with art, history or even art history.
