Another historic Dublin pub. It's like stepping back into the past. Always in top 3 for a great pint of Guinness. A must visit if you're in town. Now number 1 for Guinness. Still one of the best pints around. Enjoy

Great pint of Guinness! Friendly bar man - very friendly and easy going to talk too! Nice atmosphere too compared to the usual temple bar vibe. If your looking for a good pint and calm pub this is the place!

Barman claimed it's an over 23's bar and refused to serve us despite the fact I've drank there twice before. I understand that age policy's exist and that's okay, I really have no problem not being served if they are somewhat pleasant about it, it's just that this barman was extremely condensending and rude. Just because I am 21 years old doesn't mean that I deserve to be treated like dirt. Hope this place has a think about how they go on and have a bit of respect. Best way to lose a customer for life 👍.

Really nice classic style pub. Just slightly off the main road so it would be easy to miss if you didn't know it was there. It was very busy so it's clearly popular. My friends who were drinking Guinness said it was the best they ever had. Clearly they are doing a good job because 90% of people in there had pints of Guinness.

Tremendous whiskey selection! Quite a few Irish whiskies, a few Scotch and Japanese, and a handful of American bourbons. If you're visiting and want to explore some Irish whiskies, I'd absolutely recommend stopping in here. The bar staff are very knowledgeable and give great recommendations. Excellent for a pint of Guinness as well!

Excellent Guinness, friendly efficient barman, good WiFi connection. Looked like a regular local clientele, who were clearly happy to be there. A lovely traditional city-centre pub.

I went to 6 bars that day and this was the best Guinness I had. 4.5/5 I rated it :) Friendly helpful staff also and a really nice chill pub vibe.

Have visited Bowe's Lounge Bar in Dublin a few times now and it's very much a quintessential Irish bar serving the most amazing Guinness. It's a real throwback to a real pub. I'll definitely make a habit of calling into Bowe's Lounge Bar each time I visit Dublin

Bowes is the last great Dublin pub. There are 4 rules: 1. Always drink Guinness in Bowes; it is one of the best Guinness pubs in Dublin (and therefore Ireland, and therefore the world); 2. If it's really busy (which it is on most nights), find a place to wait with your Guinness and a seat will usually appear within 10-15 minutes, as the place has quick turnover 3. Be very nice to the bar staff, as they are among the hardest-working in Dublin (they have been known to be kind in return) 4. Don't tell too many foreigners about it; although it's great to see some tourists visiting, if too many of them to then rule 2 will be under threat.

Dublins hidden gem. This place and The Gravediggers in Glasnevin do the best pints of Guinness. If your looking for a good Guinness in the City Centre then this is place to go. Also a nice Snug in the bar, not very often you find one anymore in town. Great to sit in when with the partner.

Just love this pub. It's probably my favourite pub in the world and the Guinness is elite level. Good chat with the bar men and the locals are so welcoming.

We were asked to wait for a table which was all good. After another couple entered the bar, they received a just vacant spot, which was still fine. That was after 10 minutes of waiting. Two guys were telling us that they were about to leave, so we kept waiting next to the toilets with a beer. The waiter told us once again that the two guys were about to leave soon and we just have had to wait a few more minutes. That was after 20min of waiting. When the guys left, we went over to the table and seated ourselves. The waiter came again and asked us to stand up again because a group of six just entered and looked for a table. Priorities first. We then left. Cheers

The type of pub that gives Dublin the reputation it has. Amazing Guinness, incredible whiskey selection, the best and friendliest bar staff (Eli is a superstar), convenient location, friendly and chatty locals all make this place the best pub in Dublin. We tried a few other places including The Gravediggers (overrated cold Guinness and miserable welcome), and this is the best. We came here 4 times in 3 days Thanks for helping to make our stay in Dublin a memorable one. Cheers.

Great location just away from the over busy Temple Bar tourist zone...and possibly the best pint of Guinness in Dublin. Consistently excellent pours, good head and a silky smooth drink. No bitterness at all.

Traditional Comfortable Dublin bar. Good pints of Guinness at a reasonable price ( for Dublin ).

Brilliant little whiskey bar in the heart of Dublin. Amazing selection and reasonably priced. Can get very busy on the weekend or in the evening so get in early to get a seat! But busy on a Thursday, loses its charm a bit, especially after covid when it's not fun to be packed like sardines. Bottle of Corona is 6.50, ouch! Used to be you could get a top shelf whiskey for that! Star off for that.

First ever time in here. Great true Dublin pub not like the tourist traps of temple bar! Having spent the afternoon in the Guinness store house and been told they serve the freshest pint in Dublin ! It might be the freshest but Bowes have the best pint! Well worth a visit.

I'm not sure the Guinness here is the same. It's like they have their own brew. Creamy, smooth and perfect temperature. Staff friendly also

Great pub just barely out of the hustle and bustle of the Temple district. They pour an excellent Guinness.

  • 4/5 L C. 1 year ago on Google
Mixed feelings. First time, the pub was very crowded, but amazing guinness and service. Second time, a bartender was very rude to my friend, and the pint of guinness was not as good. So, I guess it is not very consistent? Whiskey selection is good.

Went for the Guinness on recommendation from 'The Guinness Guru'. Beautiful Dublin pub. Staff were above excellent, really genuine good crack lads. Top class. Guinness was very very good but not as good as it gets (fine margins). Sorry Darragh 😉 But don't be put off by my opinion, I'll definitely be going back.

Smaller place but definitely what you want in a pub. Has a Snug at the front of the bar. Huge whiskey selection.

Been here 3 times now and every time it does not disappoint. Was with a group of lads in temple bar which is not really my scene and walked to Bowes for a couple and had 3 fantastic pints of Guinness. Great atmosphere and you could also hear yourself talk and actually have a conversation. One of my favourite pubs in Dublin

Great, friendly, non-pricey whiskey bar right next to the Westin. Went back twice on our vacation. Great bartenders who really helped two Americans learn and enjoy a selection of Irish Whiskeys. Can't say enough about this little pub. Just go there!
