Love location & convenience to boardwalk and shopping. Beautiful establishment. Be specific if you want a view of boardwalk & town of Duluth vs canal & Lake Superior. Big difference in view depending on preference. Ceiliac review of breakfast is not very good sadly, as very few options are available & variety in hot food is lacking. Will definitely go back! Just always pack gluten free food & get a room with a fridge.

Stayed for a night and enjoyed this nice hotel after staying in subpar hotels throughout our trip. Rooms are nothing special, clean and comfortable. The special things about this hotel is the waterfront access, fire pit outside, 24 hour coffee/water/hot chocolate, lounge space by indoor fireplace and the very diverse breakfast options. Breakfast is eggs, sausage, hash browns, pancakes, cereal (almond milk available) with small snacks like muffins and apple sauce.

My husband and I stayed on April 10th and had a wonderful night! Carrie was the super sweet front desk attendant who found us the perfect room, close to my sister’s room. Lovely views of Lake Superior and spacious rooms with comfy beds is how I would describe our stay. Only complaint is that we slept in and missed the breakfast that sounded delicious. 😁

The location was perfect! With the best view of the Lake right from my balcony. Nice delicious waffles for breakfast with juice. Woke up early and sat near the water, so relaxing and peaceful. Room was clean and bed was comfy.

We stayed 4 nights while my brother was in ICU at St. Mary's hospital. The staff was friendly and helpful. Since we didn't know how many nights we would need, they suggested booking each morning for that specific night, while waiving any type of fee for the late booking. It was so helpful that with all the family stress of the hospital, the hotel was not a problem and they went out of their way to make everything stress free for us. Definitely would recommend this hotel!

I’ve been staying here for 15 plus years…. Never again! The front desk gal, Allison was the rudest human! I explained that the vending machine didn’t work and tried striking up a conversation… with her head down her reply was “ I just work here” I’m so tired of the apathy amongst the people in the “service industry!” you work for me! I’m paying your salary Allison!Train your people! Disheartening to say the least!

This was a really nice Hotel. The beds were surprisingly comfortable. The bathroom was huge with shampoo, conditioner, & bodywash dispensers in the shower which was pretty nice. The breakfast was great! But most of all the view to the lake. All the boats & barges coming in.

Great location. Hotel is just a bit outdated and could use some updates. The highlight of the joint is the 5 or 6 Davenport sofas in the lobby and lounging areas. My god, I wanted to load one of those bad boys up to bring to my mistress.

Very nice place, with view of the harbor and ships coming in. Many, many places to eat, shop, and enjoy... all within walking distance. Segues available if you don't care to walk.

Great hotel for families visiting Duluth and specifically the canal park area. The staff here were fantastic, the facilities were well cared for, and the rooms were clean. We especially loved the S'MORES the hotel provided for us. The kids loved sitting down by the boardwalk eating marshmallows and chocolate. The hotels location is also very convenient, it is easy to get to and within walking distance of most activities in canal park.

Nice north woods decor but not over the top. Rooms are big and we loved having a lake view. Hot breakfast included. One day was omelet, hash downs and bacon. Another day was scrambled eggs, sausage and hash browns. Plus the usual cold buffet items like yogurt, bagels and cereal. We love the location right in Canal park and that it’s on the boardwalk so you can walk out the back door from the lounge and go for a nice stroll. They also have a fire pit and chairs outside to relax. Well done!

We arrived in fog and rain for a special weekend with our family. The lodge is located in a very convenient location to walk to most places. Staff was very attentive and accommodating. The place was clean and the breakfast was plentiful and well organized.

Upon arrival the room we walked into had a terrible smell that gave us a headache after just a few minutes. We switched rooms and the smell was still there, just not as bad. Rooms aren’t sound proof as we ended up getting woken up by constant noise, including a screaming kid that kept us up all night. We had requested housekeeping but nobody stopped by. Great location but extremely overpriced for what we received.

Located on the leading edge of Canal Park, this place has a great atmosphere. The staff we encountered were very pleasant and helpful. About the only negatives were the really deep tub and the bed could use an upgrade. All in all, great choice and wish we could have stayed longer.

We stayed here for a weekend and had a great time. The rooms are nice and we had a balcony overlooking Superior. Fantastic breakfast with plenty of food. Lots of seating for relaxing both inside and outside on the patio. Rooms were pretty quiet overall, but the doors shut hard so you do catch that noise from time to time. That's the only reason I gave the room 4 stars. I should point out that they had work being done on the roof and I couldn't hear that in our room at all. We'll be back.

The wife and I came back to Duluth to experience Lake Superior when it was warmer. We had a really clean, comfortable room with a nice view of the lake. This was the first time we stayed here, but in looking at the building during our time at the nearby beach, we decided we liked our room with no balcony over the rooms with a balcony as we felt rooms with no balcony had better views of the lake. With it being our first time, I had a lot of questions of the hotel staff and they were very patient with me. The one negative was our room didn't have two chairs of the same type, but that could have been due to our getting a two queen bed room. We had to get that kind because a king bed room with lake view was not available when I booked. We will definitely come back if we have the chance.

Nice room, friendly staff, and a decent free breakfast in the morning! We stayed in the king room with balcony and the view of lake superior was lovely! Nice bed with many pillows, a pull out couch, outlets on the lamps and a mini fridge.

Okay, so if you expect a full brand new updated hotel you might be disappointed. However, if you are looked for a good hotel with a great view and great service, this is the place. I’ll be honest the rooms are slightly dated, but the beds are comfy, the bathroom and tub is everything you need. Everything is super clean, there is no weird stains on beds or anything. The view is AMAZING!! The eaves crashing against the risk sound so pretty in the windows you can open. The service is super sweeet!! Everyone is so nice even the girl that was in training was so nice and it didn’t feel like I was a burden it felt like they were able to take care of me and train someone and I was so happy!!! I was here for a work trip but I will come back with my husband for a personal visit: the beds are comfy though one of the beds in my room was very loud. The tv was old, I could see a slight color problem, but the channel selection was all I would ever need!! I am excited to come back again!!!

Beautiful place by the lake. We got a nice lakeview room, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. So much so, we decided to stay another night during our trip. This location is also by some great local restaurants and breweries, completely within walking distance. We had a wonderful night of grabbing a local to-go beverage from a nearby brewery and have a drink out on the patio watching the sunset. Beautiful! My one complaint is the smell of the room. I thought the room we were in the first night was unwashed(it smelled like sweat, especially in the bed). We learned that these were just how the rooms smelled. I'm guessing it's the kind of cleaning products they used? Both nights we stayed we aired out the bedroom for a while to get rid of the smell.

Room was clean but outdated. No screen door for patio off room. So bugs flew in if you left door open to get breeze from Lake Superior. The mini fridge was off balance and did not work well, no temp control to adjust to make it cold inside. Told front desk, they did not care. Shower had excellent water pressure. Staff was not knowledgeable about property, or friendly. Cigarette butts everywhere as the smoking area was remote and unkept. As in a 2 picnic tables splintering and chained to tress, so u literally had to sit under and in the tree branches. Breakfast was no taste hash browns, cheap breakfast meat and overcooked eggs which had a person dishing those items onto your plate. The rest of selections were prepackaged mini muffins that were flavorless. Bagels and English muffins that were old. Pancake maker was highlight, thin , small pancakes. Dry cereal but no milk. Grounds unkept, plants and or bushes in pots outside, dead. Door to main patio was very hard to open. No umbrellas on tables to block sun. East facing patio. Will not return to this hotel.

The bed was comfortable, the shower was nice. Had built-in soap dispensers in the shower. The room was spacious, the food was good for hotel food. The location is neat the Lake Superior, very pretty view.

Beautiful view from balcony. I wish they would have bigger table and extra chairs in rooms. Somewhat clean , but dusty inside drovers, tables, bed headboards. Breakfast is ok.

Beds were very comfortable, Lake view room was amazing to see sun come up over. Breakfast was warm and filling. My favorite part was it was quiet, lots and lots of people staying the night but it was built for quietness. Not many places I can say that about but this place was quiet!!!!!

Used this as a staging point to walk to Bentlyville. Rooms nice, friendly staff, good breakfast and coffee. Pool chlorine was a bit intense.

The hotel was very nice and the pool was warm. We also walked to Little Angie's Cantina and Grill fo dinner. We got a good deal on a room for around $190 because there was bad weather.

Great experience staying at the Canal Park Lodge. Very clean rooms, great customer service, and good breakfast selections. The management team is awesome! I would highly recommend.

I want to rate higher than 3 stars but the bed was so uncomfortable, I barely slept. The employees were perfect. The breakfast attendants and front desk staff were very friendly. The.location is great. This hotel is walking distance to the brewery, restaurants, and shopping. This photo is from our lakeside patio room 117.

Pros: Great location. Friendly staff. Clean. Cons: Wasn't able to check in until nearly 5:30 because the room wasn't cleaned in time. The hallways were noisy for quite a long time after midnight.

comfortable beds, amazing towels, great staff. the biggest complaint we have is the bottom of the bathtub was very slippery and it was uncomfortable showering and the soap and shampoo dispensers were difficult to use.

Clean room. Appreciated the HEPA filter on the a/c unit which it seems like they are testing. Check in and out was easy. Free breakfast was fine (about what I expected)

They let me check in early without any hassle and the location is tough to beat. It was funny that the person working the front desk didn't realize they had a totally dedicated and covered motorcycle parking area. I helped the other rider with the information after listening to the front desk person tell him about other parking options.
