I’ve been looking forever for an authentic German restaurant and I have finally found one that takes the cake. Kurt’s is nestled in a corner plaza and while it looks small from the outside, I can promise you that it’s definitely bigger on the inside. The food here is phenomenal, amazing and unique tastes and flavours, everything we had that night exceeded our expectations, especially the Black Forest Cake, which is prepared fresh daily by their baker. You will not find artificial trickery here! This is the best German food I’ve ever had. Be warned though, the pork shank is limited stock per night so it would be smart to preorder it with your reservation. The wine was simply fantastic, our waiter (who I will not name here for privacy reasons) went out of their way to pick a bottle of sparkling sweet wine that wasn’t on the menu. Absolutely delicious. As for the physical location, I like the “fancy restaurant” aesthetic but it is definitely too dark in there, the lighting is just a bit too dim to the point where multiple tables were using their phones as a flashlight to read it, we were near a window so there was a small amount of light there so it wasn’t as bad for us. Overall I give this place a 9.5/10 because while the food and staff are amazing, I find it to be a bit of a safety hazard to have the interior be so dark.

I've been hearing about this restaurant since it opened many years ago but never got the chance to go until now. Located in a shopping center I was a bit skeptical from the outside but once we opened the front door I was immediately relieved and taken by the authentic German atmosphere - wooden furniture, color, lighting...so German. The bar area is just like most German bars, really took me back. Service was perfect. We were immediately greeted and taken to our table. Our waiter, JD, was at the table asking for our drink order within a minute. The entire meal he made sure we had everything we needed and followed up. This is how you serve people! I've been attempting to try German restaurant that open in or around Atlanta for years, I've seen many come and go. The main reason I believe for the failures, and there can be many in the restaurant business, but for Germans it's the cook to order mentality. Americans expect the food within 20 min.of ordering. Germans fail when they take 30 minutes plus. Kurt's was perfect! This was a huge relief for me getting our food on time. We started with the Classic Swiss Fondue. Holy Moly! I've had fondue in Switzerland many times. I'm talking the best in the world 10000 feet up in the alps with a local farmer's family which is how they make $ during the winter months. So I know what it is, what it should taste like and Kurt's done a fantastic job with his version. I will go just for this the next time I have a craving. The "only" thing I would add is a bit more white wine. For entree's we ordered the Pork Shank "Schweinehaxe" and Jaeger Schnitzel. The Pork Shank was cooked perfectly, tender and juicy. Had so many great flavors of garlic, onion and other herbs that reminded me of my Oma's (German Grandmother) cooking. Note the portion is HUGE. No way one person can eat it all. So order it and share and be prepare to take some home. I ate on it for days. The asparagus was cooked great but we had one piece that was old, should never had left the kitchen, see photo. The Jaeger Schnitzel was perfect. The veal was tender, beaten and the breading had all the right touches and flavors that you'd expect. The Jeager - woodland mushroom's and gravy were delicious. The mushrooms had a great tangy flavor, so good that I ate them all first. I'm not a fan of spätzle so I won't give that a review but to say it was good, I've had it with my family in Munich many times. I would say it needed a little more gravy sauce, maybe add more from the mushroom gravy? Why 4 and not 5 stars? The asparagus, whoever released that plate should have noticed and taken it off. Then there was the salt issue. Both the pork shank and schnitzel were a bit over salted. I get that salt brings our flavors but in today's US we are over salted and over sugared causing heart disease, diabetes and high blood pressure. All restaurants need to do better when cooking. A bit less salt would have been perfect. Would I go back! Oh yeah! The menu looks amazing and I want to try it all! If not for that I will be back for the fondue. :)

Over the years I have been here several times. KURT, 80 years old will stop by and say hello. I believe his wife works the host stand. The authentic cuisine is the best I have ever had. Small bar with about 10 seats. The staff is super friendly and very helpful. I love the German Potatoe salad and Cucumber Salad. I have also enjoyed the sausage skillets, pork shank, the October fest patio specials, the twin lobster tails, cheese and cured meat plates. The list goes on and on. If you want a great restaurant and great food enjoy a unique atmosphere that you have not seen before, go here. I give Kurt's a shout out for the best German food on the eastern seaboard.

This place became our important spot. I and my boyfriend first date was here, and we came back again and again. The banana forest is always our favorite. Everyone here is nice specially JD, he knows our preference of beer and all the food. I would recommend this place, it’s always worth to go and enjoy the food over there.

Nice ambiance. There is a lot of food to go with the high price. Having said that, BIG servings don't always mean the BEST taste. There was nothing that tasted bad (except for the pickle wrapped in bacon, two things that do NOT go together!!!), but there was nothing that really stood out either. It was an okay meal that was high priced. The Pretzel platter could have really used something more to dip it into (not just the smear of mustard). The Burger was way too thick. When my burger falls apart because of the size, that's not a good thing. It was the size of 2 single patties put together. And the pretzel bread could not contain it. The fries were good though. The Pork shank was enough to feed 6 or 7 people but the taste didn't really stand out for me. The desserts were okay. The chef comes out to do a banana and ice cream dessert at your table but I got the feeling he didn't really want to be there. There was no greeting, talk, or any showmanship. For a table side effort, you have to at least talk to the table. For the price, I think you can get the same types of food, in different restaurants, for a bit more taste at a cheaper price. Again, it was okay, just not blow my socks off.

Our server, Maria, was awesome and made great suggestions. We had the Gulf shrimp cocktail and Moules a la Creme. Both were very delicious but would return even if they only sold the mussels. One of their specials for the night, 18oz dry-aged steak, was phenomenal. The Kessler ripchens smoked pork chops were very juicy and flavorful. For dessert, you have to try the bread pudding.

We love this place. I grew up in Atlanta and remember going here as a teen at their old location and used to go to the car shows. We rediscovered them just a few years ago after looking for a quiet night out and there were several one star reviews with people who brought their kids in. That's when I was like, yes!!! Take my check Kurt, we need a civilized adult dinner. Black forest spaetzle, jumbo pretzel, schnitzel, pork shank. There is just nothing that compares in the metro area.

Seating is limited here, so it is best that you make reservations. You can sit in the bar. The restaurant is beautiful. The food is great. The service is excellent also. It is a hidden neighborhood restaurant. They do offer specials as well as take out and curbside pick up.

Never disappoints but I recommend having a reservation on weekends. Open table makes this easy! The food is always amazing, flavorful, and fresh. Just look at this dessert... Say no more! Also the wait staff are always professional, attentive, and knowledgeable about the food options, preparations, and daily specials. And get a 🍷🍻 drink! Enjoy! 😊

We ordered food from Uber Eats and were very happy with our dinner! I also ordered a Black Forest cake for my husband’s birthday. We received tons of compliments on the cake and it was really moist. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner, who was very conscientious to ask how our experiences were and if we had any suggestions for improvements. They have definitely gained a new customer and we will make this one of regular places when we go out. The sampler platter for two is amazing!

We have been here several times over the years. The food is always amazing. The service is wonderful. The atmosphere is inviting and relaxing. I am German and am very picky when going to a restaurant serving German food. I highly recommend going here. You won't be disappointed.

Had a fantastic dinner here. Started with one of the skillet appetizers with a brat, sauerkraut and potato salad which was amazing. Dinner we opted for a NY Strip and a ribeye both with asparagus and had an extra side of broccoli. All was A+++ - steaks were perfect and the veggies were amazing as well. Our server Gail was so on top of it, super personalized service despite having multiple tables to watch over. She made the experience extra special. Can't wait to be back!

My first journey into authentic German food. Man what a master class. From the tankards to the pics of Mercedes Benz CLK-GTRs. It would be a crime to pass this up.

Went there last week for our son's birthday. The staff was great about making accommodations for our party which included two of six adults using walkers and a one year old. Food was great.
