Glensheen Mansion was super cool. The history inside the mansion was interesting, and the area outside was beautiful. The Christmas lights around the mansion was a nice Holiday touch. It gets busier once the sunsets, so if you don’t want to wait in line for too long Id suggest going before 3pm, though the holiday lights wont get turned on until about 4:30.

It's pretty neat.. we did all the floors and I'd say it would have been a disappointing visit without it, except the attic, that wasn't very insightful. Was fun how they remove a velvet rope for your entry though ha. Great place though with a garden, gift shop, terrace and fountain, a pier, several lounge spots, kid's areas, a small trail, hammocks, etc... deffo recommend if you're into that sorta thing :) Took about 1.5-2 hrs to adventure the entire property.

Highly recommend stopping by for a tour. Mansion and grounds are gorgeous! Even my teenage children liked seeing the old craftsmanship of the house. Did the self guided shorter tour which was perfect for the first time. Would like to go back at Christmas time and take the full tour.

An amazing estate to tour with an interesting history which gives you a peek into how a wealthy family of Duluth lived at the turn of the 20th century. I did the full mansion tour and enjoyed seeing the boys rooms on the third floor as well as the storage space in the attic that aren't included in the classic tour, which includes the master bedroom and girls rooms on the second story, main floor as well as the basement with the servants quarters. The grounds are also beautiful and worth spending an hour or so wandering. There is a gift shop, ice cream shop, and a cart selling beer, wine, and a couple of cocktail options with a lot of outdoor seating by the water to sit and enjoy your ice cream or drink. Overall a beautiful house worth the $32 ticket for the full mansion tour to see (get there early to do the full mansion tour, you have to buy those tickets in person and I got one of the last tickets at 9:30am on a Saturday, just 30 minutes after they opened). My favorite rooms were the breakfast room (the oak leaf stain glass is incredible!) And Helen's room (the pink and green tiled fireplace?!).

This was soo amazing to see. The old wood work is beautiful. The original furnishings, windows, light fixtures were just so cool. We only got to tour the main floor, 2nd floor, & the lower level which was a bummer. The library was my favorite. But it was still cool to experience it & learn the history of it. Would definitely go back to see the whole house!!

Great history lesson plus early and interesting enginuity. Great piller in the community. Show up early and take the full tour. Well worth the time and money. Great architecture. A very solid state house. We spent three hours plus. Taking in the magnitude of the life and history of the era.

Husband decided on last minute trip here for whole family to experience. This house is my "happiest place on earth". Absolutely rich in History, exquisitely furnished and built by Congdon family, and maintained by the U of M. We're lucky to have this in our beautiful state.

This place is amazing. The woodwork throughout this entire mansion is only to be seen in person. I'd have to say my favorite wow factor, " THE SHOWERS" The advanced system they had way back then is crazy. I would so so love to have just their shower in my place and I'd be a happy camper. Lol. Definitely a gotta stop place for your vacation.

Great tour, if you're passing by its a must stop in. I've been going to Duluth since I was a child with my family and this was my first time going. I bought a new camera so I decided to take some photos while I was there and wasn't disappointed. They have a elf on the shelf hunt for children and some amazing paintings. The full tour was a little more but imo worth it. Go big or go home! And it wasn't that much more.. My faverite photo was of a squirrel that was eating nuts that fell off a tree, it was digging threw snow to get them and when it popped up had its head covered in light powdered snow. He had a weird flat tail too.. :o I tried to include some photos to highlight the beauty of the place while also cutting down the amount of photos I took. I might have added a lot of photos (30+) but it's only about a fifth if the photos I took.. Place is huge. Go check it out :)

I would definitely recommend this place for your tourist destination, especially the Christmas tour. The mansion was beautifully decorated with over 25-Christmas trees and it got our family in the holiday mood. We came early on a weekday morning to avoid the crowds and got a personalized self tour taking our time. Glensheen also has a huge amount of local history and the staff is very knowledgable about all things Glensheen I would also recommend going during daylight hours, as the natural sunlight helps to see all the details throughout the mansion. Family friendly, but don't touch anything inside. Our son was an active military member so admission was free for all of us.

Have been here a few times and it was beautiful in winter. They had the house all decorated for Christmas and we got to explore floors that hadn't previously been included in the tour. Was a great experience - beautiful adornments, great views of the lake. Will definitely be back!

When visiting Duluth, this is a MUST-SEE place to go! In the many times I have visited, I feel like I see new things every time. From the newly restored garden terrace to the gowns and dresses from the era of the Congdons, there has been something new and fascinating each time I’ve been. Tiffany Tiles and Glass to ornate wood finishes inside the house, winding and beautiful walking paths towards the lake and creek. This property is truly magnificent! Always recommend allocating at least an hour or more to admire its true beauty and hidden gems!

We are members of the horticultural association so we get in free to see the gardens. I try to make it a point to do this at least once a year because they are beautiful. Everybody in Duluth gravitates towards the rose gardens, and I think a lot of people forget about the beautiful grounds surrounding Glensheen. If you are a resident, this is worth a visit just to tour the grounds during the summer and see all the lovely flowers and vegetables. If you are a visitor to the area, I recommend visiting the entire property, the interior of the home is absolutely stunning.

Always a wonderful time! This time I got to share the property with my children. Even though their noses are usually stuck in a computer, they loved seeing all the different sorts of rooms and imagining which one would have been theirs. My treat this time was being able to visit the 3rd and attic floors. They gave great insight to the "behind the scenes" part of the home.

My mom and I recently visited Glensheen. It was my first time visiting and I enjoyed every second! We toured on a rainy day in December and something about the weather with views of Lake Superior paired beautifully with our tour of the mansion. A gorgeous tour with an interesting history at a reasonable price!

We enjoyed the self-guided “classic tour” to see how the other 1 in a billion lives (or lived). The highlights for me were the breakfast room, the stairways, and the outdoor spaces. Learned some fun facts. They had 15 fireplaces but they were mainly there as “backup” in case the boiler failed.

I did the full tour over Easter weekend and I must say this was a lot more interesting and beautiful then I expected. The woodwork/craftsmanship across the property is breathtakingly beautiful. If you are interested in history, beautiful vista's, and amazing craftsmanship I recommend glensheen 100%

Just a few minutes from Duluth, right on the water. A must stop for sure. We did not go inside the mansion, but enjoyed the grounds. Worth the $5 to explore the beautiful lakefront. You can still get up close and personal with the main house and in addition see the carriage house and boat house. Gardens are in fabulous conditions and Fall is certainly a gorgeous time to see this old beauty. I imagine winter is equally as beautiful.

This mansion is filled with tons of history and beautiful architecture that really makes you feel like your traveling back in time. The staff were very nice and I loved how almost everything in the house is original and authentic to the family that lived there. I’d love to explore the 3rd floor and attic next time I visit!

Just go. When you see the sign, pull in for free parking. Go for the classic tour, which is totally worth $20/person. I have lived on the Iron Range most of my life and I finally went. The grounds are phenomenal and I had no idea just how HUGE that mansion really is. Totally amazing

We've done the Christmas tree tour and the summer Full Mansion tour. Both were so fun, the mansion is definitely worth seeing any time of year! Bring some headphones so you can listen to the app while on your self guided tour, too!

Took the self guided full house tour with my daughter and it was amazing. (Check the website for details) Pictures are allowed too! Grounds are open to explore along with places to sit and look at the lake. Really nice gift shop and friendly staff. There is no place like it!

Beautifully kept historical mansion! We opted for the full tour and we really enjoyed the experience. If you've read the Fate of Mercy Alban by Wendy Webb, you'll enjoy it even more!

Very beautiful place, even in the winter! The staff were very kind and the self-guided tour made this place worth the cost. Our favorite rooms were the breakfast room and Helen’s room (signs pictured.) Overall a really great experience that everyone should take advantage of.

This place is pretty interesting. We got the lock and key tour. The girl was really nice and seem to know quite a bit about the mansion. However it was supposed to be an hour and a half and it seemed like she wanted to get through it very quickly we finished within the hour. Definitely not worth the $36. It should have included the rest of the Mansion as well.

Other visitors were a distraction today. One person had downloaded your app and was playing it at full volume as she walked into each room. Please suggest that app users wear headphones or turn off their speaker. There was also a large group of teenagers who's were more interested in each other than the interior of Glensheen. Spacing of large groups into smaller groups of 5 - 10 would help. The house was beautiful!

My daughters and I had a fun excursion today to the Glensheen Mansion in Duluth, Minnesota! We took the full, five-floor (3-floors plus the attic and basement), self-guided tour on an early Sunday afternoon. The flow of visitors through the mansion was well timed, so our visit didn’t feel crowded nor rushed. The mansion and its furnishings were well maintained. In past summer and early fall visits we have enjoyed walking through its well kept gardens. Today, we enjoyed all the festive Christmas and holiday decorations! ❤️

Bought full mansion tickets at arrival. Much busier than anticipated. Could easily spend several hours enjoying the mansion and grounds. Beautiful place.

Gleensheen is well preserved and offers a historic look at life for the wealthy. The mansion and grounds are beautiful and well worth the admission fee. As a bonus, you can look for the 9 pumpkins scattered around the estate or buy a kids book for highlights to look for on the main tour.

The only reason for the 4 stars is price... lots of areas were close or restricted for the full tour but besides this, it is a very amazing place! The structure itself is mind blowing and the history behind is very interesting! It was like 60 for family of 4 (2 kids). You can spend as little as 1 hr but I would recommend to take your time to read and understand all the notes to have a better experience!

Visited after grandma's marathon and it was great! Loved the self paced tour. I spent about 1 hour and 30min here but you can easily be here longer or shorter.

I've been coming here for over 30 years. It's holds a special place in my family's heart. No matter what season you come it's amazing. Take the full mansion tour of coming for the first time. Read all you can as its fascinating. Christmas is gorgeous and not too far from Bentleyville.

Did the candlelit tour of the first 3 floors ($25 per) and it was a fun one hour self guided tour. You can download the app or just read the signs as you tour the house. Some rooms were very hard to see, so we will probably be back to do the tour of all the floors during the day. More parts of the house are accessible in the warmer months too. The grounds were decorated with Christmas lights (free).
