Traditional place at the Center of Rio de Janeiro. Very cozy and comfy with delicious pastries and a good service. Although the price is a little above average for the area, it is still an amazing place for any kind of meal, from breakfasts to lunches and brunches!

Traditional pâtisserie! you can't miss those delicious sweets like pasteis de nata (egg tarts)

One of the most historic places in the Dowtown area of Rio de Janeiro. Locals enjoy a sumptous breakfast at this eatery. It is the perfect place for a quick lunch or afternoon coffee or tea served with sweet and savory pastries made from recipes dating from 1860.

You get the true decadent setting with still good confiterie in this place. I would go back everyday. Go for the room in the back and ask for the argolas douradas and the pastel de nata if you are into the portuguese style egg yolk and sugar based sweets. The coffee could improve and that's why it is a 4 and not a 5. The most noble room is in the corner of the street. If it is too full turn left coming out, enter the first door and go to the end of the long corridor with all the pastries.

Traditional Portuguese house serving cod (of course! 😃) and Portuguese pastries. The bolinho de bacalhau is one of the best in Rio!

Very old school and great selection of traditional Portuguese-Brazilian fare.

Walking around my new office area to try new lunch places, bumped into this traditional Portuguese bakery and restaurant dating back to 1860. Very tasteful and wide selection of salty and sweet pastries. In the back there is a traditional restaurant with at least 10 lunch dishes for 25-30 reais. Very good find. Also good place for tourists as an alternative for much bigger and nearby Colombo.

Best Nachos in the US. They also make their tortillas in house and you can’t beat ‘em. Ummm and their green sauce? Just ask for their las costillas de puerco en salsa de verde… yeah it’s the best

I find the prices were a bit high... but it is old and beautiful. A nice experience

Oldest cafe in the city. The staff are very nice from the security in the front to the ladies behind the counter. The sweets are also good. Not as popular as the nearby colombo, but definitely worth visiting for someone with a sweet tooth.

In Centro Rio, offers Portuguese food/snacks. I ordered a NATIONAL beer, expecting a Brazilian beer like Brahma, to my surprise the waitress brought me a very cold Super Bock and a very cold glass. Very good food, service in a very cozy setting. Like many places in Centro, they close at 6:00 p.m.

I used to be there with my mom every time she decides to go downtown when I was little and then when I grow up. The place used to be amazing, with fresh sweets and little appetizers. I had lunch with my sisters and the taste of cod fish cakes wasn't there anymore, even pieces of potato were present. The executive lunch was a nice steak but had too much fat around. I had an eclair with dry cream. I was very disappointed.
