I went to this church by chance. Rather massive and classicist from the outside, you will be totally surprised inside: bright, modern and architectural with a huge interior where the seats rise steeply, which is certainly very interesting at concerts. To get into the church you have to go through a foyer with an integrated café, where socially disadvantaged people can also find their place.

Beautiful architecture. St John's Church (German: Johanneskirche), with its almost 88 m high tower, is the largest Protestant church in Düsseldorf. It is located at the Martin-Luther-Platz. The church was built from 1875 to 1881 in the Romanesque Revival style. It was severely damaged in World War II, but was saved from destruction and in 1953 it was reopened. The last major remodeling took place in 2008. There is a cafe through which one enters the actual church. —(reference)Wikipedia

I was drawn to the church as the bells were ringing on saturday night. Peaceful squarr. I would have missed this if it wasnt for the bells. Interesting fountain behind church. Statue of Bismarck to the right of the church

Nice church ⛪️ beautiful 🤩 The Johanneskirche, also called Stadtkirche, is the largest evangelical church in Düsseldorf. It is located at the end of Berliner Allee in the Stadtmitte district on Martin-Luther-Platz (Königsplatz). On the square in front of the tower facade are the Kaiser Wilhelm monument, the Bismarck monument and the remains of the Moltke monument. The Johanneskirche is built in the round arch style. The nave is 61 meters long and the tower is 87.5 meters high.

Great building. It is worth the visit. However, the inner part is restored and in my view it is not at the level of the outer part. I felt a bit disappointed when entered inside the building. However an interesting visit from my point of view. By the way, don't expect a big cathedral or similar, this is more like a great church I would say

It’s an important landmark in Düsseldorf. You can see its green bell tower from far. Going inside it’s simple yet elegant. Most importantly it’s peaceful. There is a large lawn outside of the church.

It's wonderful when churches make their excellent acoustics available for experimental concerts. A special treat for the ears at the Düsseldorf Festival (September 23) was the concert combining modern pieces of music with baroque. This solemnity and depth of tones and words almost make you believe in an immortal God again!

Very nice building. The exterior was restored to its old glory days, but the interior was not. A little disappointment to walk in and see that the inside is so pedestrian comparing to the outside structure. No matter, it is a place that would draw tourists to the area to walk and inspect its ground. There is a coffee shop inside, but we did not try it.

The Johanneskirche was inaugurated in 1881. The church was built in the round arch style according to plans by the architects Adolf Heyden and Walter Kyllmann. During World War II (1943) an aerial bomb destroyed the interior. Approximately 10 years later, a sophisticated redesign of the interior design was created. The Evangelical Johanneskirche offers a diverse program that keeps the community alive. A cultural highlight.

Definitely a beautiful church. Unfortunately, the wrong opening time is written on the door. When asked at the café next door, the church should open at 12 p.m. We walked around for two hours, looked at all the shops and sat down at Martin Luther Platz at 12 o'clock and ate something. At 12:15 we wanted to visit the church and it was still closed. A pity.

The building looks quite impressive from the outside. Red brick, the building shines in the sun against a blue sky, which looks very beautiful. It is the largest Protestant church in Düsseldorf and has a rather simple interior. From the entrance you first come into the large anteroom. There is a cafe here with a small selection of cheap drinks and delicious cakes, as well as daily newspapers. A wide variety of people meet here in the cafe. Backpackers, homeless people, pensioners, entrepreneurs, families with and without children, married couples, migrants, photographers, simply everyone who wants to spend a short time in this oasis. There is a book market once a month during the winter season. The proceeds go to Doctors Without Borders. You can almost regularly see tables where language lessons are held with migrants. Every now and then our new fellow citizens cook small dishes from their country and offer them at reasonable prices. Very tasty, everyone should try it. The cafe also offers a small lunch menu during the week. Once a week there is organ music with coffee. You can also pay for a deferred coffee in addition to your own coffee, even in winter. I think this idea is great. A homeless person then receives the coffee as a donation. The cafe is staffed by various volunteers, most of whom are extremely friendly and helpful. We look forward to a short visit every Saturday. There is always a small pig next to the cash register for donations, and next to it there is a note indicating who will receive these donations. The objects are changed regularly. The toilets are bright, clean and tidy. There is a toilet for disabled people, the toilets are spacious and always clean and tidy. Various lectures are offered on the bulletin board. From the entrance straight ahead you go through a door into the church interior. A bright, spacious room with stairs on both sides to the gallery. This church has great acoustics and, in addition to the church services, there are also regularly very well-attended classical concerts. Great architecture, great events, great choir. Groundbreaking project with a cafe for nice, relaxed gatherings.

We have already been there for two events. For a play by Ben Becker (I, Judas!) and now for the gospel experience (Lady Rose Watson's Black Gospel Angels) for both events, the church, which continues to function as a mass venue, was a very nice venue. The only negative point is that there are no seats to reserve. You therefore have to be there in time to sit near the front. We always sat in the first 5 rows. The view into the chancel was good, but partly blocked by the people in front. So far we have always been in the middle room, but there are also tiered side seats on the "first floor". I'm sure it won't be the last time I come here.

(Translated by Google) I like to have a cup of coffee and cake here and there. The café has very nice and friendly volunteers. The café is relatively quiet, so I can read my newspaper in peace. Every time I visit, I also go to church to commemorate my deceased and living relatives. Then I go out and am in the middle of life and directly at our beloved KÖ. Therefore I can highly recommend this place as it is very good for me.
