The bust of the writer was originally made of clay in 1972 by sculptor Sergei Timofeevich Konenkov (currently kept within the walls of the library). The duplicate, installed in 2003, is made of white marble, the author of the work is the sculptor Nikolai Kosov and the architect Alexey Konstantinovich Tikhonov. At the present time (December 2018), the bust is under restoration (according to security officers).

Living Ivan Sergeevich, author of "Mumu" and "Fathers and Sons", a native of the city of Orel, honorary doctor of Oxford and professor at Moscow University. The location of the library-reading park and the warm marble brought the famous writer to life. The calmness of the image, the silence of the years and the tranquility of the face, the beautiful view of the Et Cetera theater, the facade of the house of the insurance company Russia, all this creates a pleasant atmosphere of something cozy. The work of the architect Kosov and, most likely, a repetition of the earlier work of Sergei Konenkov.
