I really like this cafe. Conveniently located across from Churchill and in the lobby of Chancery Hall. The ambience is second to none, really cozy and quaint but classy. I didn't find that coffee something to rave about, it was good, but not anything different. I will still come back again, as I proudly support local business! Will try the food next time.

A hidden gem of a place. I have been going here for the past 3 to 4 years, and it is great. Kelly is super friendly and easy to talk to. The coffee is tasty, and the food is amazing. If you stop by in the morning he is always baking something fresh. The staff is always professional with all patrons. I have personally observed them give food and drink to the vulnerable people. It is my first stop in the morning to get things going.

Great cafe right in the heart of downtown. Kelly is gem of a person and always has a large dark roast coffee ready for me when I get to the till. He also makes an awesome pastrami sandwich! I always look forward to our chats and am happy to support this local business.

@Duncan The owner is most certainly not racist and the incident you referred to about kicking out an indigenous person is because that person had been combative and assaulted staff. Try not to assume the part of the incident you are seeing is the whole story, there was far more than what you saw. No one deserves to be assaulted. L'Espresso owner and staff are wonderful people, kind and compassionate.

Food selection is not great. But they made my coffee well. On the menu it says their only non-milk option is soy milk, which is not great given all the options available out there.

Coffee was great… egg omelette wrap “western omelette with ham in it” however, not good at all. Honestly I took one bite and threw it away. Pre-made, reheated in microwave twice, it was cold and just terrible. I don’t usually leave bad reviews, but I was so disappointed especially after reading all the good reviews.

Really unorgonized, part of it is that the owner is cheap and won't hire extra people other than the 3 other girls who work full time, and he leaves during the rush to go do his work out. Also does not use gloves so they have to wash their hands constantly which makes already slow service (because of the only 3 people hired) even slower, as well as no thermometer for the drinks so there is also no consistency. And not to mention their "iced coffees" are essentially frappé's which rightfully confuses people.

To all of the folks saying that this business is run by racists, I eat at this cafe almost everyday and know the staff quite well. I assure you that the owner and staff are not racist. I have had nothing but wonderful service in this establishment, day in and day out. Please be sure that you are aware of the entire situation before leaving a public comment that could ruin someone else's business.

Had a wonderful lunch here. Casual atmosphere, friendly staff and great food! Some of the best gluten-free bread we've had too. (And when they found out my mother's 90th birthday was coming up they brought out a plate of baklava which was a very thoughtful touch). Just along the eastern edge of Churchill Square.

This quaint cafe is a highlight of being downtown to me- their breakfast wraps are my favourite (and for anyone who likes extra crispy just let Kelly know and he will toast it a little longer!). The breakfast wrap is a great way to start my morning because it's filling but not so much that you'll need a nap. Also it pairs really great with an iced chai!

I’m truly stunned and don’t understand the motives of some people making wrong accusations that the business is running by racist, and only to damage the reputation of a good business. To those people who likes to twist the story, my colleague and I was at the coffee place when the homeless man walked in (I am a regular customer and it wasn’t the first time that I see homeless people eating and resting in this coffee !) Back to the story, the homeless man walked in, goes straight to the cooler, choose his drink and then go to the front counter, the owner with a friendly tone asked him for what he likes and the man asked for a cookie. The man was searching his pockets for money to pay but the owner told him don’t worry about it, it’s on me. The man took his order, went and sat on the table by the ATM machine, he ate his cookies like any other customer, no one bothered him and no one asked him to leave… after a while the owner approached him because he wasn’t moving, us too we were concerned if the man was okay ! When the owner didn’t succeed and couldn’t get any response back from him he called the security for help. The security came and managed to wake him up . (What a relief knowing that he was only napping, my heart beats was racing from the fear of something bad happened to him !) when he tried to stand up ready to leave the security supported him up, and asked him if he's going somewhere else and offered him a ride, he didn't reply and walked out, the security stayed with him for his safety and that was it ! The owner and the staff are super friendly, caring people , and the drinks/food are so delicious. I work near by and this is the only place I go to.

People here are amazing, had a latte which was really good, and I appreciated the foam art! Looks like the food might be good too, have to try that next time.

Love stopping in here for a quick breakfast and coffee. The omelette wrap is my favourite - well-priced, piping hot, delicious and filling. When things shut down during the pandemic, the omelette wrap was one item I often craved!

Coffee was okay but definitely not worth it. They charged me $10 for a caramel mocha iced coffee even though the prices on the menu said different.

It was bitterly cold outside and their delicious cup of soup and vegetarian wrap were perfect. The service was great and I enjoyed the atmosphere (even with the exterior construction going on). I would go back for lunch again.

This place is very cozy and has affordable coffee & food. Order at the counter, get your drink, and they will bring you your food. It's a cute little coffee shop.

Got a large flavoured coffee for 2.75 with several pumps of vanilla. It was nice and just like I like my coffee. Will definitely go here again if I'm downtown. The cafe itself was nice as well.

Everyone at work was raving about the egg salad sandwich at L'Espresso, so I had to give it a try. One of the most delicious egg salad sandwiches I've ever had.

Was here with a friend the other day. Yummy Chai Tea Latte and turkey wrap. This cafe is easy to find and is in close walkable distance to the Alberta art gallery.

You can order ahead online. They make good drinks and a really nice blt thats on fluffy brown bread. Good amount of seating inside, but there's also outdoor seating if that's your fancy.

I felt slightly over priced for what I ordered ($5+ for a bagel with cream cheese the size of my palm & my hand is small) I waited about 15 mins for the coffee & bagel-there was 2 ppl ahead who ordered same thing; but there was only 1 person running the show (orders, coffee & bagel) So he was doing the best he could! Coffee was quite good-and good location to CN Tower downtown

Amazing spot hidden in the heart of downtown. Great lunch specials if you enjoy a soup and sandwich. Highly recommend if you need a quick bite for lunch. Even if you only have a half hour; easily accommodated. Usually no wait and service is fast. Great staff and food; what more could you ask for!?

Stopped in after trying the affagato wanted to stop in person and was definitely not expecting such a large menu Tried the English toffee blended drink, another affagato (seriously try one!) and the iced chai drink After taste of Edmonton is completed I’m looking forward to coming here with a book to take advantage of the nice atmosphere and the fantastic drinks. (I can’t comment on food yet but next time plan to try a sandwich as the ones in the case looked great)

Great coffee shop right next to Churchill Square. I visited in the morning and ordered a coffee and breakfast sandwich, both were good. The service was friendly and courteous. I did not stay as I was going to work but if you did stay it looks nice and cozy. The cafe is clean and tidy. I’ve been walking by for many years and finally told myself to go in and try it out and I am pleasantly surprised.

Kelly at L’Espresso Organic Cafe is a wonderful human being. I recently spent some time in the Royal Alexandra Hospital and was calling local coffee shops to see if one would deliver some goodies to the ward that took care of me. (I am not from Edmonton) So this task was done with trial and error phone calls. Kelly related to me, person to person to get exactly what I wanted done and arranged for delivery for a very reasonable cost. He then made sure to text me a photo of the goodies and a picture of my receipt to show that they were on their way. Thank you so much for taking the extra time to help me say thanks!
