The best restaurant I have so far tried in the Alsace region. Every dish we ordered was well thought through and has a great balanced mix. Special shout out to the Pork Knuckle - it tastes like it was marinated and slow-cooked to get the perfect "fall off the bone" effect. The meat was tender and full of flavour, unlike a lot of the other ones I had tried. Our waitress Camille was lovely too. We can see how overworked and busy the restaurant was, but Camille handled it very well, and not once she was impatient with us 😊 5⭐️ experience!

Staff took forever to give us our menus even after several attempts to get their attention. They even served another table that arrived after us before serving our table. It wasn’t even that busy when we came. Then they got 3 of 6 orders wrong. After a long wait for our food, it wasn’t worth waiting to get our food corrected. The food that we did get were tasty, but the lack of professionalism and organized service is what weighed the most.

Came here twice during our visit in Colmar. First night we didn't have a reservation but were lucky to get a table inside. Really enjoyed the meal and decided to come back the next night - this time with reservation to make sure. Nice weather - so we took a table outside the 2nd time. First night we've had the goat cheese with salad and the Foie Gras (cold / mi-cuit) for starters. Both excellent choices. Especially the Foie Gras was some of the best we've had on this 5-week Road Trip through France. For the mains we chose the Eisbein (shank) and the steak. Both were of high quality. Nice and tender Eisbein and the steak cooked as ordered. The other night we chose the duck breast, foie gras, salmon salad and some more Foie Gras. Foie as great as the first time around. Duck breast very tender and tasty. We both had the steak after that. Solid choice. Had some ice cream and a piece of Schwarzwalder Cake for dessert. All in all a very good restaurant. There are many options around, but this one here made us very happy. Friendly staff. And dog-friendly inside and out. Surely a great choice. If you dine here, be sure to order the Foie Gras.

He had a lovely family lunch here. The waitress was nice and spoke English. Very nice menu with children options as well. The food is more German. He had two salads, pork knuckle, desert, and kids menu (tagliatelle with salmon). Everything was delicious and tasty! Nice and cozy interior of the restaurant. Usually is quite busy place.

Nice, charming Alsatian-style restaurant in a superb location. Tasty, hearty dishes at a reasonable price. Nice service with good English (both better than average for France). We would come back but in winter, because the dishes are too hearty for the summer (but very good). I strongly recommend the baeckeoffe.

Nice place . Nice staff. Left restaurant at 22:15. 1 dish enough for 2 people for light dinner.

Le Fer Rouge is hands down the best restaurant in town, with its prime central location and a backdrop that looks straight out of a postcard. Situated in the heart of the town, it offers a charming and picturesque ambiance that enhances the dining experience. The highlight of Le Fer Rouge is undoubtedly its menu of Traditional Alsace dishes. From the mouthwatering baeckeoffe to the delectable flammekueche and choucroute, they serve authentic and flavorful dishes that capture the essence of the region's cuisine. The desserts are equally delightful, leaving you craving for more. During our visit, Kevin served as our host for two consecutive days, and his warm hospitality added to the overall enjoyment. He was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, providing excellent recommendations and ensuring a memorable dining experience. If you're looking for an exceptional dining experience in town, Le Fer Rouge is the place to be. Immerse yourself in the rich flavors of Alsace, surrounded by a picturesque setting and impeccable service. It's an absolute must-visit!

The food tastes very good. Atmosphere is very nice. I think the waitress could be nicer. We are here as guests not beggers. So we expect to be treated better. It's not a good experience here.

We have a great Alsace meal here on a Sunday lunch time where most of the restaurant are closed. I really recommend there stew ham with cheese. A good address for this tourist city.

A cozy restaurant in the heart of Colmar with friendly service and delicious food. Prices are 20-30 euros, food selection is great! Highly recommended!

This restaurant was adorable and authentic, with lots of fun options. My partner ordered the choucroute du chef and I ordered the fleischnakas. I had a hard time choosing between these and the flammkuchen(flaming pie) and the spatzles! They all looked so yummy. I had hoped for a little more flavor on the fleischnakas…but they were adequate and did have some body to them. My partner very much enjoyed his choucroute du chef which he describes as a nice selection of curated delectable meats on a bed of sauerkraut-some salty, some smoky, but all varied in flavor. I would love to come back and try more dishes!! The reatauraunt fills up quick, so get there early!

Le Fer Rouge in Colmar left an indelible mark on our dining experience, weaving together various elements that contributed to an evening of culinary delight. From the moment we stepped in, the aroma of delectable dishes wafted through the air, setting the stage for what turned out to be a gastronomic adventure. The star of the show was undoubtedly the food. Each dish was a masterpiece, a symphony of flavors that showcased the chef's expertise and a commitment to quality ingredients. The menu offered a diverse range, catering to different tastes and preferences. From savory appetizers to mouthwatering mains, every bite was a revelation. The seamless blend of textures and tastes elevated our dining experience to new heights, leaving us with a lingering appreciation for the culinary artistry at Le Fer Rouge. Despite the restaurant being abuzz with patrons, the service remained a shining beacon of hospitality. The staff, though undoubtedly busy, managed to extend a level of friendliness and attentiveness that added a personal touch to our evening. Our needs were met promptly, and the staff's genuine enthusiasm for ensuring customer satisfaction was palpable. The ambiance of Le Fer Rouge deserves special mention. The warm, inviting atmosphere created an ideal backdrop for our culinary journey. The décor was tasteful, striking a balance between modern sophistication and rustic charm. The ambient lighting added to the overall appeal, creating an intimate setting that complemented the stellar food and service. One aspect that drew a mixed reaction was the restroom facilities. While the toilets were impeccably clean—a testament to the restaurant's commitment to hygiene—the presence of only two toilets resulted in long queues, particularly during peak hours. This minor inconvenience did little to dampen our overall experience, but it's worth noting for those who may prioritize quick access to facilities. As for the pricing, Le Fer Rouge pleasantly surprised us with a balance between cost and quality. The dishes, though of exceptional quality, were reasonably priced, making the dining experience accessible without compromising on taste. This affordability further added to the restaurant's appeal, especially for those seeking a high-quality culinary experience without breaking the bank. Our visit, timed early to beat the rush, did encounter a queue, indicating the restaurant's popularity. However, the wait was a small price to pay for the culinary journey that awaited us inside. Le Fer Rouge in Colmar is more than just a restaurant; it's a destination for those who appreciate the art of fine dining, offering a symphony of flavors in a setting where each detail is meticulously crafted for an unforgettable experience.

Decent food, local cuisine, beautiful location, of course. Priced average for the area. Portions are quite large, very heavy food but it is good. I probably would not eat here again but rather try somewhere else but I do recommend it for someone else to try.

Quite a busy place in the evening, reservations may be needed. The food was good and the service rather prompt although not very enthusiastic. I tried the same jamboneau specialty in most restaurants in Colmar and this one was last place. The crème brûlée though was excellent. The restaurant building looks incredible on the outside, especially with the Christmas decorations installed

While in colmar we stopped for our evening meal place was well laid out although our table was on third floor and tucked away in a corner service was good. Food was not to our taste had sauerkraut and chicken.

My mom and I had lunch here and came back for dinner the same night. Our waiter for the lunch service was friendly and attentive. The dinnner service waiter was nice, but we liked our first waiter a bit better. For lunch I had a salad which was good and my mom had a smoked salmon dish of some kind that was good as well. For dinner I had a traditional flammekueche that was excellent and my mom had steak and potatoes that was also delicious. I’d recommend eating here. I’d make reservations though if you want to be guaranteed a spot. I also had a Suze to drink because I’d never tried it, but it’s an interesting liquor. It’s a bit bitter and earthy. Fun to try once at least.

Nice location. Always busy with long lines but it is worth the waiting time. Great French and Alsace food. Service was good. Helpful staff. The creme brulee was very special and delicious. They serve heavy meals and light snacks with drinks. Very recommended.

We had lunch here without a reservation and luckily got to sit outside. Restaurants in the area are very busy at lunch and you need to wait for a table or have a reservation if places take them. Service was fairly good given the number of tables and the limited staff. I didn't care for the two different cheese tartes we ordered at all, cheese was too strong on one and they didn't seem like they were baked enough. The salmon was good. It's in a charming area of Colmar and it was fun to sit outside and watch all the tourists. Good selection of wine and drinks.

Pls make reservation, we went without booking and was told full house. We decided to try our luck to wait, luckily we got a table after 20 mins. Food and ambience is good, the waiters are very busy but still friendly.

We spent wonderfull evening in Le Fer Rouge. Restaurant is at the center point of Colmar. You can sit outside and contemplate the amazing architecture surfing Your dinner. The food is very tasty. Traditional Alsace cusine pleased our stomachs for 2 hours. You have to try the most delicious beef in red wine.

Everything was amazing, the staff was very friendly, the food was perfect and the prices were very reasonable for the region. Definetly a great place to go! Even though the place looks like a tourist trap, it’s not!

Our table got full with flies and servers said they can’t do anything about it not even replacing the table. We literally paid +€50 to share food with flies!!!

Tourist trap. There are better choices. I ordered the most expensive plate on the menu and it had 4 pieces of meat and 3 bones. The flavour was good-ish.

😠 Avoid at all costs! Terrible! My 8th month pregnant wife had to urgently use their toilet and was denied! Who is denying a pregnant woman the use of a toilet!? It was very cold out and we basically got thrown out with the remark "no guest, no toilet". We had actually planned to have a snack afterwar...
