The only reason the statue of Liberty (on a smaller scale) is here, is the fact its sculptor August Bartholdi is Colmar native. The Statue stands at the northern suburbs roundabout. While I was driving here I knew exactly what I'm about to see, but seeing it wrapped in Ukrainian flag deeply touched me.

Great little landmark just outside Colmar. Not so much to see but a great photo opportunity

an oddly wild curiosity on a busy roundabout in the middle of an industrial estate. There is mostly empty large parking nearby, constructed in the expectation of a great number of visitors.

Nice to see. But it's quite a bit out of town. And you can't stop there or anything.

Nothing special. A statue in an roundabout intersection. A little replica of Statue of Liberty from New York. Even to make photo it's no so easy. If you want to make pictures go in the evening or in the early morning because the sun in the middle of the day it's behind the statue and all the photos will be contrajours. And be careful to the cars when you make photo from the middle of the street!

The Statue of Liberty in Colmar is a unique commemoration of sculptor Auguste Bartholdi, born in the city, who crafted the iconic Statue of Liberty in New York. Standing 12 meters tall, this tribute is located just a short drive from the city center, situated in a roundabout. Although the statue's placement is not appealing at all, taking a few extra minutes to park near the local shopping center allows for a better vantage point for capturing this remarkable landmark.

A 12 meter high state of liberty stands in this roundabout since the sculptor was born here in Colmar. It's easy to park in the nearby parking lot. There are also some signs in French explaining the history behind. Currently it's draped in the Ukrainian flag.

What fun. The sculptor of the statue of liberty (90m in US, of course) was born in Colmar. So there's a 12m version in the middle of a roundabout

As others have said, this monument is a 12 metere high replica of the Statue of Liberty. The designer of the statue was born in Colmar, hence its presence here. The monument stands in the enter or a very, very busy roundabout. There are parking lots close by, but the road is so busy I had no intention of getting my young kids out of the car to walk up to it, nor is the area very picturesque. We drove by and snapped a photo and called it a day - at least the road is a main route to Colmar so not out of the way by any means.

It is in the middle of busy roundabout. One of the landmark for Colmar. We stayed at Roi Soleil Colmar Prestige which is just 5 minutes walk to the roundabout.

Interesting, but it's far from town (not a walking distance) and at a roundabout which is not easy for photos.

  • 4/5 Travel T. 2 years ago on Google
Beautiful imitation Statue of Liberty. Unfortunately is in a bad position outside the town of Colmar in a hard to go roundabout. Be careful of the cars if you visit it.

  • 2/5 Dr Q. 1 year ago on Google
So overrated. Overall, it's nice to see a replica of the statue in the hometown of the artist himself. But it's a small statue inside a square with cars driving all around it. The location is just outside the city in the direction of Strasbourg (ergo poor transportation there). If you're too tired to go and you don't have your own car, you'll just get bummed out.

  • 5/5 Linh Ta P. 1 year ago on Google
Not the one in New York, but the excitement is the same. You will enjoy the view anyway. And if you want to be closer to the statur, cross the roundabout 😄

Quite a surprise to see this statue right in the middle of a roundabout. A curiosity worth a picture and some investigation, if you pass by there.

Interesting to see that there is another Statue of Liberty - this one standing in the middle of a roundabout. Turns out that the designer was born in Colmar, where you can find a museum in Haus honour and a lot of his works. Sadly it is not easy to view other than from your car.

Nice statue, but a bit small. Not made out of metal. Crossing the roundabout it's a bit difficult. People have ruined it by placing some stickers on it. Not worth an Uber to get there. Take bus #7.

Lovely tribute to Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, born in 1834 in Colmar. If you drive to Colmar, pass by, is is located in th roundabout, easy to spot and snap a pict.

  • 4/5 Wojciech K. 1 year ago on Google
It's an interesting statue especially if you haven't seen original one in New York. It's. Right in the middle of roundabout so be careful.

  • 4/5 Robert O. 1 year ago on Google
What a nice monument to the original artist and by the city to pay tribute to his work. The statue is a bit small and placed in a roundabout ut you can park beside the road at the shopping mall or at the designated parking spots depending on what side you are accessing it from then walk up to the center curb if you want to take pictures of it. Beware of the traffic though as this road is quite active so it's not really suitable for kids as they can run straight into the road.

  • 3/5 Philippe Q. 1 year ago on Google
Bartholdi was born in Colmar so a replica of his statue has been placed. Unfortunately it is in on a roundabout in a middle of a mall. Not a really nice location.

Who would have thought! What a pleasant surprise to find this statue on a roundabout in Colmar, France. Now that we understand the link between Colmar and the Statue Of Liberty in the United States, it makes perfect sense and a great photo opportunity.

A must see if you are around Colmar. Replica of the Statue of the Liberty by Bartholdi who was born in Colmar.

This is an interesting place to see on the daily if you live around the area but it is not worth the trip there. It is advertised as being part of the tourism of Colmar but it is way outside of Colmar and on a highway so the most you can get of it is an average picture. An average picture would be fine if the attraction itself looked good even if not picturesque, but looking at sportswear in the Decathlon nearby was more interesting. I thought Colmar was lovely but this stop wasn't worth it. Perhaps people should still see it, if only to check it off the list, and to be disappointed.

Fun to visit, plenty of parking available around the corner. While it’s a bit disappointing you canno go up close (because it’s in the middle of the roundabout), it’s still quite impressive. Definitely worth a visit in Colmar.

A cool little tourist attraction, however it is in the middle of a roundabout and there's no safe way to get close to it. But a fun thing to pass by on a round-trip in the are for sure.

It is good to see it here, where it also belongs. We saw it for the month of breast cancer, so it had a pink detail.

  • 4/5 Kirill M. 4 months ago on Google
That’s a great experience especially if you know something about why it’s placed here. However it’s too far from the city centre (like 3km) and it’s not tourist friendly. It’s literally in the middle of the road. But it’s worth it.

Nice to see the Lady in her hometown. If you are in the area, make a quick detour and visit the smaller version. Mote that she stands in a roundabout and you cannot get there without risking your life. So the Instagram pic will have to be a little bit distant.

(Translated by Google) When driving my car into the beautiful city of Colmar I had a kind of mirage: in front of me stood the Statue of Liberty. Had I taken the wrong turn and instead of Colmar I had landed in New York? None of this, it is a reduced-scale copy of the New York Statue, implanted here to pay homage to the sculptor Auguste Bartholdi, a native of Colmar, author of the original statue. (Original) Nel fare ingresso alla guida della mia auto nella bellissima città di Colmar ho avuto una sorta di miraggio: davanti a me si ergeva la Statua della Libertà. It is a very interesting attraction and nice replica of the State of Liberty New York. The monument is quite tall, however i believe the location of it is totally inacceptable and unpractical from touristic point of view.10min drive with a car from Colmar City Center and in the middle of shopping centres/industrial zone and in the middle of street on the round way....it makes its visit difficult. I think Colmar Tourist organization should seriously think about moving it somewhere centric...Could be such a nice Bertholdi roundwalk (museum-fountain-statue) if moved nearer to the historical city centre...such a pity....
