The Ticket Counter at Sigiriya is the gateway to experiencing one of Sri Lanka's most iconic historical sites. As the first point of contact for visitors, the ticket counter plays a crucial role in facilitating a smooth and efficient entry into the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. During my visit to the ticket counter, I was pleased to find a well-organized and efficient system in place. The staff at the counter were courteous and helpful, providing clear information about the ticket options and pricing. They were knowledgeable about the site's history and significance, offering valuable insights and tips to enhance the overall experience. The ticket counter offers various ticket options, catering to both local and foreign visitors. The pricing was reasonable, considering the cultural and historical value of the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. It's important to note that separate ticket prices may apply for different age groups, and it's advisable to carry valid identification as proof of age if needed. The ticket counter also provides information about the opening and closing hours of the site, ensuring that visitors can plan their visit accordingly. I appreciated the provision of maps and brochures, which helped me navigate the site and understand the layout of the rock fortress and its surrounding attractions. Another noteworthy aspect was the convenience of electronic payment options available at the ticket counter, making transactions quick and hassle-free. While the ticket counter provides access to the Sigiriya Rock Fortress, it's essential to be mindful of the rules and regulations set by the authorities. Visitors are encouraged to respect the historical significance of the site and follow the guidelines to preserve its beauty and integrity for future generations. In conclusion, the Ticket Counter at Sigiriya offers a seamless and informative entry point to this UNESCO World Heritage Site. With its efficient service, helpful staff, and comprehensive ticketing options, it ensures that visitors have a positive and rewarding experience as they embark on a journey to discover the wonders of the Sigiriya Rock Fortress.

Sirgiriya is a wonderous temple grounds beset a large, prominent megalith. Wonderful sculptures and views can be had here. Make sure you have a taste of the fresh coconut juice on the return leg.

The most amazing place on Earth I've ever seen. The story and energy here are totally unbelievable! Ticket for Forigners is $30. You also can have a great few in Sigiriya from Pidurangala mountain, it's right in front of it. The entrance ticket to Pidurangala is only $3.

Need to buy tickets from here (100 LKR per person in September 2023) in order to visit Sigiriya. Staff seems ok. There may be some queues on weekends and public holidays.

Sigiriya in Sri Lanka, a mesmerizing fusion of history and nature, undoubtedly deserves a glowing five-star review. This ancient rock fortress, commonly known as Lion Rock, stands as a testament to human ingenuity and offers an experience that transcends the ordinary. From the moment you set eyes on Sigiriya, its imposing presence on the Sri Lankan landscape captures your imagination. The sheer vertical ascent of the rock is a striking visual, promising an adventure that blends both physical challenge and historical discovery. The journey begins with well-marked paths that wind through meticulously maintained gardens. These green spaces not only enhance the aesthetic appeal but also reveal the advanced planning and horticultural skills of the ancient civilization that once thrived here. As you ascend, the remnants of ancient structures and water gardens unfold, adding layers to the historical narrative. The panoramic views from various vantage points during the climb are nothing short of breathtaking. The surrounding landscape, a patchwork of greenery and distant hills, serves as a picturesque backdrop to the historical adventure. Each step feels like a step back in time, with the evolving scenery providing a visual timeline of the site's rich history. Reaching the summit is a rewarding culmination of the climb. The remains of King Kasyapa's palace and the iconic Lion's Paw Terrace showcase the architectural prowess of the ancient builders. The faded yet still vibrant frescoes on the rock face offer a glimpse into the artistic achievements of the past, making the summit not just a physical peak but a historical and cultural one. Practical aspects for visitors, such as clear signage and well-maintained paths, contribute to a seamless exploration of the site. Even without a guide, the visitor can appreciate the historical and architectural significance. However, the presence of knowledgeable guides enhances the experience by providing deeper insights into the historical context. Sigiriya is not just a rock; it's a living testament to human achievement. The meticulous conservation efforts invested in the site ensure that its cultural and historical value remains intact. The five-star rating is not just a reflection of the physical grandeur but a recognition of the immersive journey through time that Sigiriya offers to every visitor. In essence, Sigiriya is a harmonious blend of nature's beauty and human history, making it a must-visit destination that leaves an indelible mark on anyone fortunate enough to experience its wonders.

Amazing work of a fortress on a huge rock. It's a great UNESCO world heritage site. Just 30 USD for the ticket and it's actually worth witnessing such a great work of Sri Lankan history.

Entry door to the Sigiriya Rock Fortress is this one. Everyone should purchase a ticket and the ticket price you will see noticed somewhere near the counter. For locals it is small amount of money. But for foreigners it is really expensive. You will have to pay just to climbing the rock and seeing the fresco. You need separate approvals for photograph the Sigiriya Fresco. And the tickets will be checked when entering.

Amazing place. Come early to avoid the heat. The climb is strenuous - 1200 steps. Heavy breakfast is not a good idea. Good walking shoes recommended. Plenty of water and a hat too. Good guides available on site. Careful as sometimes some of them join in to 'help' you up the steps etc. Obviously everybody would need to be tipped then. The site is amazing and the views from the top are worth the strain. The cave paintings of the Apsaras are also amazing.

The place is beautiful and worth the visit, of course. But so overpriced: $30 for 1 adult. Don't even think of buying a coffee from the café: 700 LKR per cup. Even without any tourist around, like now.

I recently visited Sigiriya, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Sri Lanka, and was impressed by the efficiency and modern ticketing system at the Sigiriya Ticket Counter. The overall experience was smooth and hassle-free, thanks to their commitment to providing efficient service. One aspect that stood out was the use of thermal printed tickets with QR codes. This modern approach not only ensures that the tickets are printed quickly but also enhances the overall visitor experience. The thermal printing technology allows for clear and legible tickets, preventing any issues with ticket validation or readability. Moreover, the integration of QR codes in the tickets is a brilliant addition. It streamlines the entry process and adds convenience for visitors. The utilization of QR codes in the tickets is particularly noteworthy. Visitors can simply scan the QR code on their tickets using their smartphones, which provides quick access to relevant information about Sigiriya, including historical facts, audio guides, and even virtual tours. This digital aspect adds value to the overall ticketing experience and enriches visitors' understanding of the site. While there were instances where queues at the ticket counter were lengthy, I was pleasantly surprised by how efficiently the staff managed the crowds. Despite the occasional queues, the ticketing process itself was swift and well-organized. The counter staff worked diligently to ensure that each visitor was served promptly, maintaining a professional and friendly demeanor throughout. It's worth noting that the ticket counter staff were knowledgeable about the site and were able to provide helpful information and guidance to visitors. They were patient in answering questions and offered assistance when needed, enhancing the overall visitor experience. In conclusion, the Sigiriya Ticket Counter provides an efficient and modern ticketing service. The thermal printed tickets with QR codes offer convenience and quick access to valuable information.
