Delicious place to get sushi! Would highly recommend the ahi tuna sashimi, beer pretzel bites, or the loaded potato wedges. All are delicious! This place is usually pretty busy for dinner and usually you don’t have a long wait, if one at all, but they are always very full. The food is fairly quick, and customer service is awesome! Lots of interesting dishes on the menu! Would recommend!

We went on a Friday evening so it was busy but we drove a long way to get there and decided 35 min wouldn't be too bad of a wait since it was a beautiful evening and they have comfy furniture outdoors to sit on. We opted for the first available table which was indoor. It was a little loud but tolerable. The decor was charming. Our wait staff were very friendly and took great care of us during our visit. I ordered a blueberry mule and it was perfect. For a starter we ordered the zucchini blossoms and were pleasantly surprised by the flavorful treat. I had the fish Taco's and opted to pay the up charge for ahi tuna and was not disappointed. The house made kettle chips were disappointing they arrived late cold and soggy but I was so full I didn't miss them anyway. My husband ordered the burger and fries. He was disappointed that it came disassembled and all the condiments are on the table to add yourself. He said his burger was OK and his fries were good. We did not order from the sushi menu but as you walk in you see the sushi station and the chefs making it fresh. The table across from us ordered multiple rolls and seemed to enjoy it all. The server was able to tell them each roll (multiple times 😂) and answer all their questions. Overall I would definitely recommend AND make the hour trip to return.

Seafood & sushi & prime rib? Ok! This place was located right next to the hotel we were staying in, so hard to pass up! We read over the reviews and just had to check it out! We thought it was gonna be a bust since when we walked in there was one waitress and she was steady answering, not one, but two ringing phones simultaneously. As soon as someone noticed, they had someone come from the kitchen to seat us and from then on, smooth sailing. The better half ordered the Chicken Caesar ($12) and I ordered the Seared Ahi Tuna appetizer ($17) and a Dynamite roll ($13). The tuna appetizer looked and tasted a little different than what I'm used to but it was very good, wasn't the sharp teriyaki/soy flavor I was looking for but more of a basic tuna & sesame flavor (you can order it with sesame seeds or blackened like a Cajun flavor, I opted for the sesame). I don't think I would order it again as there just wasn't $17 worth of oomph there. The Dynamite roll was 8 pieces of deliciousness! I would definitely order that again!! All in all, I really liked this place. I would definitely return!!

We have been here multiple times, and we will be back. We drive here from Kzoo, and it is worth the trip. The food was great for each of our visits. You might have to wait for a table because they always seem to be busy. You might find the sushi to be very saucy, but the sauce is good. We will continue to return to this place.

This was our first time here. The food was amazing!!! Our server, Liz, did an awesome job...she was super friendly and made us feel at home. She never let our glasses get low and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the evening. We will definitely be back again soon!

Wow! Talk about a new favorite. I am thinking about making the drive just to eat here again! The Christmas tree cheesecake is devine. Silky, smooth and full of flavor. Desiree was absolutely amazing at the bar. Looking forward to eat here again!

Cute place. Server very attentive and friendly. I ordered edamame, Red Dragon roll and my partner got the ahi tuna app., which he said was very good. We both started with a beer - mine was the fruit ale and very good. By happy accident I got the wrong order delivered and was so hungry after a long day I started eating it without registering. It was the Las Vegas roll and very tasty. The waitress figured it out and brought out my Red Dragon and that was fantastic. Love the spice. So I ended up with two, saved what was left of the Vegas for lunch the next day. When In Elkhart again I will definitely come back to the Chubby Trout!

The food is a bit different, but very good. Great speciality drink menu, prices seemed reasonable. Service was fast and efficient. The bar area was a bit lively, which was great. There was s really nice seating outside as well in the front. I would go back again.

Wow, great place to eat and loved the old barn decor. Couldn’t decide between the lake caught perch, trout or walleye so I got the trout and tried my friends walleye. Both were great! Also a great list of local brews on tap. Get it!!

This place is a gem of a find in a area with few non-chain options. It was recommended by a few people who all stumbled upon it with a recommendation from others. Food was outstanding and nice craft beer selections. Vibe is cool and staff attentive and nice. Would have gone multiple times during our stay if they were open later (we were tied to a late running sporting event)

After driving almost 11 hours, I was super surprised to find a highly rated restaurant right in the parking lot of my hotel. I always check reviews and proceed with caution. I arrived close to closing and was still greeted with a smile. My waitress Syna was prompt and attentive. My fish taco order went right in and came out in about 10 minutes. The fish was cooked perfectly and smokin hot right out of the fryer when it was served. Excellent portion size for the price. The fresh chips were a great side too. Nice ambiance inside. For a Wednesday night, I would estimate they were at half capacity. Outside, the patio was open and a few patrons were hanging out chilling with cigars. Unfortunately, the carrot cake was sold out - the deserts are made locally and made fresh every day. I'll definitely be returning.

Yesenia our server was excellent- friendly and professional with a smile each time she was at our table! She explained the dishes well and gave great suggestions to what our specific likes were! Food was delicious! Special flavors of sushi dish - enjoyed the spice! The lime and salted edamame was a very unexpected treat! Highly recommend and will definitely stop the next trip thru! Thank you!

Great place to eat. We love the atmosphere and the staff. On first visit we had Megan and the second night we had Hannah. We never had to wait for anything, they were always right on the money with the service. They were AWESOME. The food was really good and they had great portions. You need to order a desert, our was incredible. We loved the beer and wine they served. Definitely a place to visit. Next time we are in the area, we will definitely stop here again. The food is incredible

We came on a Monday night, a night when most other places are closed. We arrived around 5 and got a great booth in the corner. We tried 4 IPA style beers, none of them were for us so I had a Limoncello martini and Mike had a margarita, they were both delicious. We had the ahi tuna appetizer and it was onion and pepper heavy and would have been better served with warm sushi rice. The dynamite and red dragon rolls were both very good. The salmon nigiri was ok, it wasn’t served at room temperature, it was a little too cool to be excellent. The yellowtail however was amazing, so much so that we had another piece for dessert. They are doing some fun stuff with the interior decor and the service was good, friendly, relatively fast food delivery.

The food was good. We had the loaded prime wedges. They were good, I just would have liked them to be a bit more crispier. We also had Kamakazi sushi rolls and the creamy fried shrimp rolls. Both are very good and truly recommend. The fried cheesecake was sooo good 😋🫠The service was great. I believe our waitress name is Taylor. She was really attentive, and that's something I appreciate. Overall, it was a great experience.

First time visiting this place and the place was packed. It’s outside seating. Inside is beautiful and the staff is very nice. Plan on spending about $20+ per person for a meal and for a drink around $14+. They have a featured menu, you can choose from, consisting of an entree of the day, they also have a menu for other foods they serve. The drinks were made strong like I like mines! Recommend this place for sure!

Had to come back for the delicious lake perch! The chips are outstanding as well! What a great place for lunch! So many terrific options on the menu! I had the perfectly prepared Camburger with American cheese and sweet potato fries! Our server, Meagan, was perfectly charming and attentive! We will return for sure!

Yesenia was an amazing server. She made sure our dog had ice water and she knew the menu both beer and food. Her suggestions were outstanding. I had the Chubby Trout and my husband the Lake Perch. Outstanding fresh fish and Sid’s. If we were in the area more than a night, we would try one of the other restaurants.

Great food and service. I wanted to try the sushi but was informed it was an additional 45 minute wait for sushi. I have never experienced this at any other sushi restaurant or restaurant that boosts sushi as a main dish. While the waitress explained they only had one sushi chef, I was understanding, but I've never been told that sushi is an additional 45 minute wait at any other restaurant. I ended up ordered the Chubby trout, while very good, I ate it all, it was overpowered with spices. The green beans were over saturated with oil or butter which was off putting.

The waitress was awesome and friendly. Wasn't sure if wanted a stout drink and she said she could do a free tasteing of one to see if like it so that was very cool, never been to a place that did that before. Had the smoked pork chop that came with asparagus and potatoes, it was very good.

Passing through and sounded interesting. Place was packed, which is a good sign. They were out of a few menu items but everything we ordered was great. The staff were all super friendly. Very service minded. Would stop again if I happen to be passing through again.

The front desk at our hotel recommended this restaurant over others, and we are very happy we took their suggestion. Dani was great! She was attentive without hovering (appreciated). I had the Chubby Trout and my friend had the Sesame Ginger Ahi Salad. Both were delicious!

The wife and I decided to try this place out, so we took off with the little one in tow, was a Friday night so they were busy! mainly an older crowd but a couple families, wait time isn't bad, the food was delicious, with actually large quantities. Prices are on par with most restaurants in the area, I would recommend this place for good prices, good staff, and the food makes it hard to stop eating when you are full.

First time at this place and it was awesome! The food was great and their wait staff is above and beyond exceptional! We had Fishin Off The Pier Favorites and Smoked Prime Rib. We highly recommend these two entrées for dinner. Our dessert was carrot cake for 2. EXCELLENT!!! You enter the place as strangers but leave the place as family!!

This town was a pit stop on our way West. When looking for dinner in a new place we always try to find something local and the Chubby Trout fit the bill. We stopped in at 630 on a Thursday and the place was hopping. Despite a crowded restaurant the staff was on point and the wait for food not too bad. In the end the meal was fantastic and we would love to visit again. I had the shrimp tacos and the other meal pictured was a Louisiana pasta meal. Highly recommend this place!!

This was one of the restaurants close to my hotel, that came highly recommended. So I decided to try it, and I wasn't disappointed!! My server Hayley was wonderful. She suggested the fish tacos with sweet potato fries. Everything was amazing!! I also got the salmon & grouper which was also Amazing. Didn't get a chance to try the sushi, that will be on my list for my next visit. I'll definitely eat here again when I'm back in town.

The salmon is was so good 😋😋 and they were super nice as well. They didn't have any virgin alcohol drinks, but they were super nice to make a drink they had to be a virgin drink for me. The serves was awesome as well, we didn't have to wait very long for the food.

We had appetizers, blackened sashimi and calamari both were very good. I had the red dragon sushi and it was really good! My mom had the fish tacos and i had one it was pretty good. I forget what my father had but he liked it. We also ordered the carrot cake which was huge and delicious. It was larger enough to feed a family of 4. The server was great and the place was pretty busy. We enjoyed our visit. Highly recommended by my family.

I enjoyed my Chubby Old Fashioned, the Calamari Fingers, Hangar Fondue, and sushi boat! My husband and I were so hungry amd this place did not disappoint! If we were wealthier people we would eat here weekly! I definitely recommend this place for a date night or for anyone visiting Elkhart and looking for a place to relax and enjoy good food and atmosphere!

We’ve dined here previously, and enjoyed it. Last two times, though, the service has been really spotty. It’s not a lack of people…there are plenty of staff. Particularly since we go fairly early. It’s just been very inattentive. They’re certainly having FUN…but makes me wonder if there’s a manager in the house. Were there for a hour two weeks ago, dirty table beside us was never cleaned. It sat right in the middle of two active tables. Food has been spotty as well. Fried perch was really good, blackened was over seasoned to the point of inedible. Salad dressing was great, but the greens were in rough shape. It’s fine….but at it’s price point, in this area, it needs to be better than that.

Our waitress Taylor, was exceptional and it was a very nice place to have dinner. Every staff member we came across was also very pleasant! Our food took a little long to come out. My only complaint was that the mashed potatoes were semi-cold and the gravy had a strong taste of bacon.
