There are a few places in bigger UK cities that ape this style, but they’re often contrived, cosmo/central and priced accordingly, whereas the Einstein is tucked away in a corner of a small German town and there’s a greater sense of a community with regulars, as well as being more relaxed on price. Smoking indoors is also allowed, which is something I miss (even as a non-smoker) in the UK, and for me adds a certain edge to proceedings. As a visiting Englishman I loved the Jever pilsner, and spent a few enjoyable afternoons there soaking up the vibe, the music, and of course the alcohol. A hidden gem I’m glad I discovered.
