In general, the Saratov accordion is distinguished by its unique timbre, sound power and the presence of bells. The appearance of this instrument in Russian musical culture dates back to 1855. From time to time, phonogram accompaniment is turned on and the monument plays wonderful musical compositions.

The opening of the musical monument (a harmonica plays from hidden speakers twice a day) was a gift to Saratov residents for City Day on September 12, 2009. The production of the sculptural composition, the author of which was sculptor Vladimir Palmin, was financed by Express-Volga Bank. The bronze figure depicts a musician in traditional Russian attire sitting on a bench, playing the famous Saratov accordion with bells. The Saratov harmonica appeared in 1855–1856, the first workshop for its production was opened by Nikolai Karelin in 1870. The musical instrument, which is one of the hallmarks of Saratov, has been produced for more than a hundred years. Harmonists and folk groups of the city took part in the opening ceremony. According to the head of the administration, Vyacheslav Somov, who was present at the festive event, the sculpture does not perpetuate the memory of lost production, but on the contrary should be the first step towards its revival.

Kirova Street has become rejuvenated after reconstruction, and new monuments such as this one create a nice and cozy atmosphere of the Saratov region :))

There are a lot of incomprehensible shops... In principle, an ordinary Arbat.. but I came to the reconstruction... of it.. and it is not closed and works... Renovation is good... But you also need to think about people. It was possible to organize some kind of pedestrian temporary zone... But the authorities gave up on this, and guests of Saratov and the residents themselves walk through the mud and twist their legs... Tryndets..... They want to be surprised in Saratov, where you can’t go, there’s a lot of dirt...

We are very impressed with the whole street, it will probably be even more interesting than Arbat.
