    Highway museum complex is the Sri Lanka's first highway museum and is located in Kiribathkumbura, Kandy. Established in 1986. The museum is maintained by the Road Development Authority. Many tourist visit here daily.

    For a foreigner coming from a modern city with state of the art traveling facilities, this site is an ideal place to experience the difficult journey of transportation. How primitive the technology was at that time. How difficult it was for the people to build roads for people.

    There are so many very old rad construction machines are kept and conserved here. Those machines are beautifully painted. Easily accessible place. You have to just get off at the Nanuoya railway junction.

    Very well maintained small scale road museum owned by Sri Lanka railway department. The place displays several of order generation train engines and other related equil.The museum is located alongside with Kandy Colombo main road.

    RDA museum has a collection of ancient machinery used for road construction. Some old sign boards and old mile posts are also among the display items available at Road Museum. RDA museum has some old tools used for the road construction work in the ancient time. museum is open for visitors on weekdays from 9.00am to 4.00pm. During the closed time also travelers can see part of the museum‚ since it is located adjoin to the main road. RDA Museum is located at Nanuoya‚ Pilimathalawa side by the Colombo - Kandy main road.

    one and only highway musium in Sri Lanka. Its in Kiribathkumbura. Its in right side in kandy colombo road from kndy. There is oldest havey vehicles use for road construction. That machines are more than 150 years. Most are youed in British period. One of the most valuable machines in the history. Modle of wooden bridge is one of the architect that show how is our engineer build roads before british. The sad story is it has less attention. thousand more people pass ever day this place. But they did not understand value of this place. i invite people pass this place daily just take off the vehicle and visit this place. One and only highway musium complex in sri lanka. It makes proud you one day.

    The museum has a collection of former construction equipment such as stone road rollers, steam road rollers, oil road rollers, tar boilers, coal scales, road signs and a model of the Bogoda Wooden Bridge. It is reported that some of the equipment on display is over 175 years old.
