I
have
just
finished
my
12th
week
of
Spanish
lessons
at
Guatemaya
Spanish
Academy,
and
I
wish
I
could
stay
longer!
I
started
my
time
at
this
school
with
pretty
limited
vocabulary,
and
finished
having
learned
even
the
subjunctive
forms.
I
came
to
San
Pedro
feeling
scared
to
even
order
a
coffee,
and
will
leave
having
had
the
satisfaction
of
surprising
locals
with
my
casual
use
of
the
subjunctive!
The
teaching
methodology
that
is
utilised
at
the
school
has
you
doing
everything
in
Spanish
from
day
one!
Reading,
writing,
listening,
talking,
singing,
and
more!
What's
more,
is
that
unlike
other
schools,
the
teachers
at
Guatemaya
will
push
you
to
where
you
need
to
be
for
your
level
of
Spanish.
Not
once
in
my
twelve
weeks
at
the
academy
did
I
leave
a
single
class
not
having
learned
anything
that
day.
The
activities
organised
with
the
school
are
an
absolute
must
if
you
want
to
both
improve
your
Spanish,
and
do
some
really
cool
things
around
San
Pedro
La
Laguna.
I
especially
loved
the
hikes.
You
get
to
learn
activity
specific
terminology
which
is
especially
useful
for
intermediate
learners.
Not
to
mention
bond
with
your
fellow
students!
If
you
want
to
push
your
Spanish
to
the
next
level,
you
MUST
stay
with
one
of
the
local
families
in
the
form
of
a
homestay.
I'll
just
quickly
mention
that
some
of
the
bigger
schools
here
have
more
than
7
or
8
students
in
their
homestays!
That's
absolutely
not
ok
and
defeats
the
purpose.
At
Guatemaya,
there's
no
more
than
3
students
in
a
homestay
which
is
still
great
to
practice
Spanish!
I
stayed
with
la
familia
de
Juanita,
and
I
had
the
absolute
best
time.
It
ends
up
being
about
the
same
cost
staying
with
the
homestay,
with
meals
provided,
as
it
is
to
stay
at
a
hostel
where
you
have
to
prepare/buy
your
own
meals.
The
choice
is
yours,
but
it's
definitely
way
better
staying
with
a
local
family!
I
have
definitely
come
out
of
my
stay
with
Juanita's
family
as
their
adopted
son!
Lastly,
I
want
to
mention
that
this
school
has
dreams
of
truly
helping
the
local
community
and
share
the
local
Maya
Tz'utujil
culture.
They
are
family
driven,
not
business
driven,
which
I
know
you'll
love
when
you
come
to
the
best
Spanish
school
in
Guatemala!
