The hotel is amazing but the service is below average , we reserved a luxury double room assuming that the check-in supposed to be at 15:00 Pm. knowing that we had a long drive from Agadir to Essaouira, the family were exhausted and looking to rest, the guys at the reception made us wait for 2 hours in order just to prepare the room . Without any componsation . We paid more than 1200 USD to receive 2 stars service.

I would give 0 stars if that was an option. The air conditioning did not work (in July), the room is not clean, and the beds are lumpy.

Well in advance we inquired whether it was possible to use the swimming pool (as an external guest) for a fee. It was indicated by phone that this was possible. We took a cab from Essaouira to the hotel (far from city center). Both desk clerk and reception manager made no effort and were rude in communication. They told us that is not possible to book a day pass. You expect a bit more hospitality and clear communication in such hotels.

Marketed by Sofitel as a modern 5-star luxury resort, this place should rather be described as a worn-down 3-star hotel. It might once have been an high-quality establishment, but 0 maintenance has made this place more like an old cowboy saloon. THE GOOD - Staff are mostly helpfull - The location with a view of the ocean, and a bit outside the city, is nice THE BAD - The food has a bland taste. Is it plain. Not the quality expected from a so-called 5-star luxury resort - The lounge music playing on repeat all day is irritating THE UGLY - The place has not been maintained for ages. Walls have stains. The paint is cracking up. Furniture is falling apart. The floors have cracks. Everything screams «I need maintenance» - Our non-smoking room had a bathroom that smelt like an ashtray - Stray cats walk around the place begging for food and drinking pool water. They use plants as their bathroom; The smell is awfull - The floors are dirty. White socks become black with dirt when walking on the floor (in our room) - Most areas look old and worn-down Sofitel is guilty of misleading marketing. They sell this place as a modern 5-star luxury resort. It is not. Stay away. The generic response from hotel management to all feedback also indicates that this place will stay rotten. It might be the corporate strategy? Pumping out the last revenue from this place, avoiding maintenance cost, before abandoning it. Too bad for all guests who get scammed by the misleading marketing.

The hotel is charming and I am sure that once upon a time it was beautiful, unfortunately we can tell that it’s super old and maintenance has been marginalized. It has to be restored cause it has a great potential.

We used this hotel with Gate1 tour because of the last minute change. We should have stayed very close to the Medina. The hotel was very impressive with the golf course and three pools but it was run by a disorganized team of staff not good in English. First was the distribution of luggage without a system but totally random. Most people waited for two hours receiving the luggage. The tree stumps/ seats/small tables were heavy and blocking passage inside the room which is not safe going to bathroom in the middle of night. Second was huge water leakage problem with the hair line fractures of the shower, sink and tub. Third was the walk out sliding glass door to the public area not certain of locking. We finally switch the room after the water leak at the shower but the other room had leakage at the bottom of the sink. The hotel blamed on us pressing the “do not disturb” button which we had no idea we did that inside because we did not hang that sign outside at all. Forth was the breakfast buffet with limited bowls, cups, spoons & serving spoons. Then there was a long line for coffee or tea by ordering in French. Fifth was the sewage stitch at one side of the entrance while waiting for transportation to go out to restaurants in the Medina. Too much stress for such a beautiful hotel.

We've stayed for 1 week here from the 27 th March until 4th April, room 316, and while we've paid our dues before checking out, we were unpleasantly surprised at checkout to be notified that we had to pay again for our airport transfer. As mistakes happen, we did reach out to the staff by email-4 emails or phone-3 calls. When calling while being transferred to the correct department, it would cut off, and none of the emails were answered. The hotel is nice is was done with great style(20-30 Years ago) but now everything is tired, holes in the hallway ceiling and at a certain point lights in the elevator weren't working so you would be there in complete darkness. The automatic/sliding doors leading to the swimming pool would be turned off and not working, so you would have to manually open them or go around. The staff were helpful, but ultimately, the experience with being overcharged and then ghosted doesn't prompt me to say anything positive overall

Absolute catastrophe of a place. Deserves 1 star in my opinion. Seemed to never been maintained since the 80s, smells ashtray and sewage inside topped with cat urine outside. Ew. Staff are not very nice either.

What a disappointment! This hotel charged us three times for the airport transfers, we emailed 3 times, called twice and they hung up on us every time. The hotel looks beautiful, but scratch beneath the surface and you will see how tired it is, the walls and floors are scratched, the spa facilities are out of order, and the doors are stuck or get stuck from the humidity. The mattresses are old and sink in the middle. Food - The breakfast and dinner buffet are very poor. However, the pool side restaurant serves very good food and the staff are great. The young staff at reception are very busy asking you to name them on trip advisor but not doing their job… no wonder we were charged 3 times for airport transfer and had to explain how dinner reservations work. Lastly, two pools out of 3 were not cleaned, and the main pool has tiles so old, I cut my feet on them. And some of the garden/balcony furniture is a bit damp. Wouldn’t go back.

We had an exceptional stay at this hotel. We spent an amazing couple of nights as a couple. The staff was super nice and easy to speak with, especially Ms. Souad , taking care of our check in and allowing us to celebrate our special event. The cleaning staff took care of our room as though without even us seeing them pass by, room decorations and all. Thank you all for this amazing stay we will definitely be staying in this hotel every time we visit Essaouira .

I stopped by the hotel bar during a walk through the area, so can’t speak to the rooms, but the lobby and bar were great, with a good selection, and good bar staff. The ground of the hotel are stunning. There’s a green grass wrapped around the pool area and a well equipped outdoor space, with cabanas and plenty of lounge chairs. I definitely plan to stay on my next visit.

I had a fantastic stay at hotel! The service was impeccable, and the staff " Ines and Yousra "went above and beyond to ensure my comfort. The room was clean, well-appointed, and the amenities exceeded my expectations. The hotel's central location made it convenient for exploring the area. I highly recommend for a delightful and memorable stay." Thank you Ines and Yousra.

Sofitel in Essaouira hotel was so beautiful. Located by the ocean. We had a beautiful view of the ocean from our room. Their staff were very friendly and helpful especially Souad from the front reception area. She was very helpful and took her time with us, with a big smile. Thank you Sofitel

This is not a 4 or 5 stars hotel as advertised. The front lobby is spacious with a nice view of a swimming pool and a golf course in the background. However, all other things (hall way floor, walls, carpets, beds, patio and furnitures, etc…) are old and badly worn out. There was no TV remote control and we waited for a long time after request. Phone in the room did not work. We did not bother to request service after experienced the wait for the TV remote control. There is a big tiled bath tub in the middle of the room but look old with a few cracks and dusty. Shower head sprayed to the outside after a shower. Flies and mosquitoes in our bedroom absolutely annoying. Live cockroaches found on the floor near the dinning room. Staffs were very nice in general and food was good. This hotel desperately need refurbishing and renovating or the rating on the internet is misleading.

I had a fantastic stay at this hotel, and I can't say enough about the exceptional service. Oumaima, the receptionist, was not only friendly but also the perfect host throughout my stay. Her warm welcome and assistance made my experience truly memorable. I highly recommend this hotel, thanks to people like Oumaima who go above and beyond to make guests feel welcome and appreciated.

This hotel is in a beautiful location, with very friendly staff. BUT it is “tired”, worn out over the years and it hasn’t been renovated in two decades and it shows. Floor pieces are missing, dirty beat up walls, once you leave the gorgeous lobby. The electronics in the room are old. This is a message to the owners: urgently attend to maintenance! We would NOT come back before this is done.

Had a blast at Sofitel Essaouira! The food, especially breakfast, was top-notch, and the staff were incredibly cool and helpful. Gotta give a shoutout to Souad – she's a gem, super friendly, positive vibes, and that smile of hers is contagious!❤️

During my stay at the Sofitel in Essaouira, the highlights included the room’s comfort and cleanliness, which were exemplary, creating a welcoming and pristine environment. However, the dining experience, particularly dinner, was disappointing. For a 5-star hotel, I expected high-quality meals, but the dinner offerings fell significantly short of this standard. In fact, I found the food quality and taste at a simple restaurant in Essaouira city to be superior, leading me to dine outside the hotel for the remainder of my stay. Staff interactions were a mix of positive and negative experiences. While most of the staff were hospitable and friendly, an unpleasant incident where a manager publicly scolded an employee, along with some disrespectful behavior from certain breakfast staff, dampened the overall impression. The hotel’s amenities, including a variety of activities and the beautiful views combining forest and sea, were definite positives. The check-in process, though, could be more efficient as it involved a considerable wait. In terms of value, the hotel balanced cost with the overall experience, but the dining aspect was a notable letdown. My likelihood to recommend the hotel is neutral, taking into account both the positive aspects and the areas that need improvement, particularly in dining and staff behavior. A minor yet noteworthy downside was the outdated TV in our room, lacking modern features like internet connectivity, which might be important for some guests. In summary, the Sofitel in Essaouira offers commendable room comfort and cleanliness, along with beautiful views and amenities. However, the subpar dinner experience and certain staff behaviors detract from the overall experience in a 5-star establishment. This makes it a potentially suitable choice for visitors to Essaouira who are willing to explore dining options outside the hotel.

Amazing room with lots of space and a nice view from the balcony. We enjoyed the quiet and the pool and spa were perfect to relax after golfing. Housekeeping was outstanding - thanks to Abdrahim and his small surprises.

The lobby is fabulous. Rooms with balconies has a very relaxing mode. House keeping need to be improved, cleaning is not detailed. Daily cleaning is done haphazardly. Rooms floor needs to be maintained. Otherwise the hotel is great overlooking a golf course.

Last day of our week stay at this superb hotel. We stayed in a villa on the golf course. Great service and staff. Thank you to Imass and Nadia on reception for dealing with all our requests and helping with just about everything…and Gabriel the hotel driver/butler who is always ready to take you wherever you want to go within the resort.

Depending on what you are doing and the time of year. Great location. Has a private beach and also an adjacent restaurant..(La’ Seven). For Africa and Morocco it is not bad, only let down by the dining experience in the main restaurant. If the food was as good as the “La Seven”, it would have been 5*’s..

Our stay was an absolute highlight in Morocco. Our Pool Villa couldn't be beat for relaxation. The food was also exceptionally good. The selection of different foods is very well chosen and represents Moroccan cuisine in the best possible way. The view of the ocean and golf course is the best one could ask for. A stay like in a fairy tale. All of our requests were carried out with the utmost satisfaction. The premises are modern and very clean. We will be back definitely!

The views are the only thing really worth it. The ground staff in restaurants and pool side are great but reception are the worst. This dude called Amani at the reception need to be fired stat and to find another job that isn't customer facing. He is not cut out for hospitality and needs to get out of being the face of an international brand. He is an embarrassment. We authorised pre payment on our credit card and they charged it twice and wouldn't take any responsibility. This is far from a 5 star experience though, hotel is run down, lots of things are broken, the gym is severely lacking, you can can't reach anyone on the room phones, we had to ask them to get the room cleaned since they seem to have forgotten, bikes are un useable if you aren't over 6ft, they advertise beach access but there isn't any- there is access to some dunes and feel free to track 1h to reach the ocean from there.. Overall it's not worth the money. You pay 5star price for a 2star experience at best Support local and stay at a riad in the city instead. This is the worse Sofitel experience I had and trust I have been to many

Beautiful facilities although it still requires some few adjustments to cover all details. Very friendly staff, just needs to be a little bit more reactive.

Sofitel Essaouira is paradise within Morocco. A short distance from Casa, I took my family to this resort for four days. The famous goats of Essaouira greeted us as we were making our ascension to the top of the mountain. The property is well laid out and spectacular with the well manicured landscape. We have an amazing suite with two rooms that came with our own butler service. The villa had a heated pool (but you have to request they turn it on). The bath tub could fit all four of us in it and the shower was amazing. We got room service each morning in the villa and it was a wonderful spread. The staff sorted out all of our needs and make restaurant reservations for us. We didn’t want to leave after being pampered the way we’re treated.
