Genuinely this Riad Hotel is excellent. Take this tip. If you're travelling into Essaouira and want to stay at a Riad that also caters to you as if you're in a hotel go for the place. Trust me! It's less hassle and very comfortable to stay in. Other Riads may be too cramped in the median (of which we experienced ). The breakfast room is to die for - its decor, service and food is good. Our room was super spacious and we loved the comfort here. Bonus: if you've got kids chose this place over other Riads as kids will like it better for a first time stay! Lovely 😍

Javier and his wife are incredibly nice. The hospitality, attention and service were also amazing. Couldn’t be happier to have chosen this place to stay in Essaouira. 100% Recommended.

I travelled with my mother who is 86 years old. We were stunned by the decorations and the Moroccan designs all over the house although we are Moroccan. We loved the owners who received us warmly and checked on mum every safety and comfort continuously.

Hi Xavier, Wanted to let you know what an enjoyable time we had staying with you in Essaouira. The room was wonderful, the food and staff lovely, and the entire experience was very good. We appreciate you and your staff very much and will recommend your riad if friends are visiting. Thanks again, Cheers, Bill and Sandy Zinck Seattle, USA

Delicious paella, friendly staff. The best restaurant in Essaouira. We will be back again, thanks Xavier for your hospitality

Beautiful riad with big rooms, swimming pool and local arquitecture, next to the beach and with amazing hosts. Highly recommended! Pd: yo también estoy poniendo la review sin haberme ido aún.

I really enjoyed my stay at this fine hotel. Check in was very attentive, fast and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are comfortable with good furnishings which made for a comfortable nights sleep. Dinner was exceptional, really good service, excellent seafood dishes and a varied wine selection. The following morning breakfast was typically Moroccan with a good selection of choices, the coffee however could be improved with perhaps using a press machine with individual coffee choices ( coffee in the morning is important to me ). To sum up, an excellent place to stay in all aspects with really good staff. Thanks Jofre for your friendly chit chat and accommodation recommendations in Imsouane and drop me a WhatsApp if you make it to El Medano

We live near the Zahra Hotel and have wanted to visit their restaurant for a long time. Finally, it happened! We ordered a fish plate for three people and we didn't miss it. First of all, everyone was full. Secondly, the quality! I've rarely seen plates like that, and I've tried them in many different countries. The seafood is the freshest, the prawns are huge, and the local fish is very tasty. The service is quick. The staff speaks English. The owner of the hotel is present in the room and attentive to the serving! One of the hotel guests was congratulated on his birthday in front of us. He was not expecting it and was just happy! A perfect attitude to the guests! I think we will be dining at Mr. Xavier's often from now on. All the more so because, by European standards, the price of the fish platter is more than pleasant.

Beautiful Riad with easy access to the beach and the most amazing family running it. Our biggest complaint is that we only got to stay one night here and next time we will definitely extend our stay here in Essouira. Last but not least, the restaurant under the same roof is an absolute must-try with amazing seafood! I can wholeheartedly recommend this Riad.

My party stayed here for two nights while I learned how to kitesurf with an instructor who is, in a way, stationed at this hotel. The lighting in the bathroom was quite poor, and there was really nowhere to hang our wet swimsuits, but beds were comfy, no excess noise, and the pool area was ideal.

My wife Carolynne and I have enjoyed the Riad Zahra for many years. Xavier and Edith run a wonderful Riad in every respect. Its fun to stay there and it has become our favourite place. We have just returned from our first visit post covid and the Riad remains a great place to stay, They even offer mashed potatoes if you ask!! What better for a visiting Englishman!! Essaouria is a great town too, much less frantic than Marrakesh. We highly recommend a visit but keep it a secret for fear too many people will come.

The owners Xavier & his wife are extremely nice & helpful, closely monitoring their guests needs, keeping the place cozy, chill, with an authentic Moroccan touch. The couple have a strong knowledge of the area, specialty, food, activities, artisanat, if in need of advice don’t hesitate to ask them ! The food itself, is carefully chosen, with an authentic Moroccan touch, the couple make sure they use only premium ingredients, you can feel the taste of each note while enjoying your food ( Tagine de Chèvre is a delicacy, a must try ! ) If you’re looking for a place to reset, chill, empty your mind, while still keeping an authentic Moroccan touch, Riad Zahra is the place to be !

We had spent an enjoyable time in Riad Zahra, where you feel more being in a private house rather than a hotel , Edith and Xavier are always there treating you more like a friend rather than like a customer; Nice atmosphere, lovely decoration, excelent breakfast and professional service, thanks Edith and Xavier, you made all of us feel like at home again!

Edit: We asked about the bike rental at 5 pm and the front desk person had no information to provide. The window doesn't close correctly in my room making it freezing. When I asked to be moved to another room, he said they were full. (He didn't try to come look at it and I made it clear we were asking for a heater) I could clearly see there were many room keys hanging behind him. He just asked me to close it and I told him it won't close. YOU SHOULD MAKR SURE YOUR ROOMS ARE IN WORKING ORDER BEFORE PUTTING GUESTS IN THEM. Asked for a heater and got a tiny blanket after he searched the hotel for a while. The pool area is nice and the bed is more comfy than previous hotels. This are the only good things. My nose is having issues because of the window being open all night. Freezing in the room, too hot under the blankets. The owners response here is an attempt to show its nice. I am lowering a star for the lack of resolution. As someone who works for a vacation company doing customer service, this place has poor customer sercice.

The rooms have no air conditioners or ceiling fans. If you open the window, be careful because they do not have screens. I left mine open, just a crack to get some air, and I woke up with a big bump on my forehead. Food choices are limited. It appeared that they had a daily preselected menu. Limited/repetitive daily breakfast. Oh, and they ran out of ice for our drinks. I will not return or recommend this place.

Nice and cosy Riad. Rooms are spacious and clean with good clean bathroom. Breakfast is very good. Location is perfect near the beach and not too far from the centre. Reception is helpful and speaks multiple languages. I stayed 2 nights and will come back.
