Beautiful Riad with great team and infrastructures. We enjoyed the place and its food although we thought the value for money was not there. Unluckily, we were there during a big storm and didn’t get to try the beautiful pool. Additionally, the internet was not working on a couple of days ( storm) which was a bummer as we planned to work from there and had to go into town instead. Overall great place but too expensive

First and foremost, I want to express how wonderful our experience was and how much we enjoyed our time there. This was our third visit to this magical place, and we will undoubtedly be back again to visit Leah & Dominique From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the warm and hospitable staff who made us feel right at home, it was wonderful to catch-up with Rasheed after a number of years. They were incredibly attentive and always went out of their way to ensure that we had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The suite we had was fantastic and had everything we could possibly need. It was clean, spacious, and beautifully decorated, with a lovely traditional Moroccan feel. The highlight of our stay, however, was seeing how happy our kids were. They were overjoyed with the outdoor swimming pool, the gardens, and all the animals that roamed the property. They also loved the delicious breakfast and the poolside lunches. Overall, our stay at Riad Baoussala was simply fantastic, as it has been on our previous 2 visits. The staff was exceptional, the room was comfortable, and the atmosphere was magical. We highly recommend this place to anyone looking to switch off. Thank you for a lovely stay, and we look forward to returning soon.

Just amazing! We were there with our 2 years old kid and we have nothing to say but positive things. The service is amazing and everyone is so nice and carrying. The rooms all have their own charm and the Riad is unique. The pool doesn't take the wind like in other places in Essaouira. Even the food was top! Massive thanks to everyone there and also having taken care of our little Diego :)

What a wonderful experience staying at Baoussala was! Its quirky charm, combined with luxury, a wonderful staff, and a beautiful location just outside Essaouira made this the perfect choice. The food is absolutely top-notch, the pool is divine, and the woman who runs it, Leah, made us feel more like friends than hotel guests. I’ve never stayed at a hotel like Baoussala, but I will definitely be back!!!

If you want a holiday with great food, fantastic host, staff that are so obliging they fall over backward to cater to your requests, high accommodation standards in rooms that feel like you have entered "The Arabian Nights", super clean swimming pool, easy 10 minute taxi ride to hustle and bustle of town, this is the place to come to. Children are most welcome and easily catered for food wise, as are those with food allergies etc [just let them know beforehand, not when you get there]. You can be as active or lazy as you like in the surrounding area. Cannot recommend a visit highly enough - make sure it is an absolute minimum of 3 nights, otherwise you will miss out on that precious relaxation you need as they also have their own Hammam and a massage room. We spent Christmas here and had the tree, the trimmings and a fabulous feast.

Experience the traditional Moroccan hospitality and find a home away from home at Riad Baoussala in Essaouira. Just south of the city, the guest home is located inside a luscious gum tree forest, adding a natural element to an already eco-friendly structure. Riad Baoussala is an eco-lodge, meaning it’s designed specifically with its surrounding environment in mind. The riad touts a biomass-fired heating system, and plays an important role in the sustainability of the local community. When I first arrived for my overnight stay, I admired the homey feel of the riad, as the atmosphere was intimate and cozy. With only six different guests room, Baoussala is small but welcoming. I was greeted by Dominique and Leah, who manage the hotel, and I loved the way the whole crew felt like one big family. Everyone I encountered welcomed me, asked how my stay was and if there was anything I needed. Saying I received personal service doesn’t even begin to explain how friendly and inviting the team is at Baoussala. I stayed in the Oasis Room, a classically charming room, ripe with traditional Mediterranean flair. The king-size bed was probably the most comfortable bed I’ve slept in away from home. Soft, luxurious bed linens added a nice touch. The food is utterly amazing, as the cook, Loubna only uses locally sourced produce and ingredients to craft gourmet Moroccan cuisine. I’d eat here every day if I could! In addition to all the wonderful amenities Baoussala has to offer in the room, the outside are of the property has some of the most stand-out details I’ve seen of any hotel. Because it’s located amongst a forest, there’s thick, green gardens, with relaxing spots with to catch a break in the shade. The riad incorporates nature in both colors and architecture, and the heated pool allows for a refreshing swim. There’s even an open-air cinema for unwinding under a starry night sky. Baoussala truly is a unique experience that I’d recommend to anyone staying in Essaouira, as the personnel and accommodations are spectacular.

Great haven close to fantastic waves of Sidi Kaouki. Team are lovely as is the compound. Make sure you visit the Hamman.

We had a great time here to celebrate my 40th birthday. We came as a family of 4 with young kids (5 and 2) and 2 sets of grandparents. The staff were fantastic - Rashid, Simo, the kitchen ladies. They were accomodating for all our requests with little kids. The food in the evening was wonderful and homecooked cuisine..we had a very special new years eve dinner which beautiful and extravagant. The weather whilst we were there was amazing. So we were very lucky. I've relaised i just don't find holidays with little people very relaxing or holidayish so might simplify for another couple of years (stay closer to home). But Leah organised taxis, hire cars, everything we needed. Baoussala is a very special place and one i would like to return to perhaps without kids next time. Haha Thank you!!! Xxxx

It’s not often places get it as “right” as this place. We had the most special time with our 20 month old son. Lovingly prepared delicious meals and amazing local morrocan wines. We loved the heated pool and had a lovely time exploring and looking for cats dogs and turtles. The staff are incredible and the grounds are wonderful. It has that boutique feeling but still has space. I hope one day we will be back and if not I will remember this place forever !

We really have mixed emotions about Baoussala. There are a lot of lovely things about it and other things we really found not so good. The best is the Moroccan staff. They always went out of their way to help in any way they could and were so welcoming. The Riad itself is also beautiful, there's no denying that. However, we travelled with out 6 year old daughter and I can't say that we would recommend it. The main reason we booked this hotel was because of the heated pool. However, the pool was unheated for 5 out of 7 of the days we were there due to some issues and it wasn't cleaned on two days we were there. Whilst we speak two other languages, we don't speak French and it was incredibly hard to communicate at times when the 2 English staff were not there. We found the food to be really strange as the evening meal there was absolutely zero choice for kids and minimal choice at lunch times. They either had to eat the set menu in the evening or there was literally nothing else. Even though the place was teaming with children, we found the food options so tricky with kids, as did other parents we were chatting to. There was also a group of children who seemed to be without their parents for most of the time and ran wild, screaming and shouting and being rude from morning till night. They are apparently regulars of the hotel. They regularly upset our daughter which we had to speak to them about. At one evening's dinner I had to shout at them for being so rude and loud, again with no parents in sight. It's really confusing as to what this place is - whether it is meant for couples or for families. We really wanted to love it, but sadly will not be recommending this place to friends and family and don't think it is worth the money we paid for it.
