Very old stylish hotel looks like from the 1960 with some renovations. The reception staff is not professional. Cleaning women just entering the room whenever you are inside. Breakfast is ok, but if you are vegan, will stay hungry. With this price there are much better choices. Real 2* no more.

Unfriendly and rude staff, look like they do not receive celary and do not wish to work or respond to your questions. Dirty smelly carpets all over the hotel with the smallest rooms we ever seen. Shame to #Bestwestern chain to have it included. Step out of the hotel in the evening and appear in most dangerous area of the city with drunk shouting strangers. Just choose any other hotel in area but not this one. NO GO!

To start on a positive note, the front desk staff were very nice and helpful getting us checked in. Also, the hotel and the room were clean so that's always a plus. Finally, the location is perfect since it's about a 2 minute walk away from the Hauptbahnhof. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. From what I can tell, this hotel does not have any policy when it comes to their cleaning staff entering rooms. While my partner and I were having fun adult times, a member of staff decided to walk right in, no knocking, just stroll right in like it was their personal room. He then immediately left, no apology, just closed the door. I spoke to the front desk about it later and they apologized but it was still 100% unacceptable. If you stay here, make sure you lock your door well because guess privacy does not seem to be very important here.

Very nice hotel with a history. My room was large and very clean. The price is great for everything you get. The employees were nice and friendly. Thanks for this nice stay !

They changed the carpet in the corridor regardless of the fact that we are staying on that floor. During the shift, for two days, they sanded under a machine that made an unbearable noise, which could be heard throughout the hotel and dust everywhere. Then they concreted the holes in the floor, and I felt like I was in prison because I couldn't leave the room. No one informed us that the renovation work will be carried out on the floor where they gave us rooms, otherwise I would have changed the hotel. On top of that, the staff were rude and rude as if nothing was happening.

Hotel located very close to the city center of Essen. There is parking garage three minutes away, where you can park your car with a discount whenever you stay in the hotel (We paid €14 for over 24 hours). Entering the room with some gummibears on the pillow was very nice. The room was clean and quite big. Friendly staff and price for one night was very well priced. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Beautiful and well kept hotel, staff were friendly. Two minute walk from the train station, excellent location for the Christmas markets. The room was of a high standard and reasonably priced.

Very clean hotel with friendly staff. perfect location, just 2 mins walk from the train station and the city center/Christmas market. There was enough space in our room, stayed there 4 people (with 2 kids). They are also pet friendly, prepped a very nice spot in the room for our dog as well. Very low price compared to it's standards.

Located directly across from the train station in Essen this hotel is clean with some recently renovated rooms. The staff are friendly and informative. On the down side I bought a small bottle of water to bring to my room and it cost €8.50, this is a rip off.

Very nice hotel with character. Very clean and well organised. Amazing cookies at reception. We didn’t go for breakfast which could be great but it was 19€ per person. Overall happy to come back to this hotel.

Was there for meetings with the company. Rooms nicely stocked and prepared with water and apple juice. Lunch was excellent I'm the dining area with plenty of choices for all aspects of the meal including dessert.

The bed is quite comfortable i had good sleep last night , nice & clean room and the price was not bad £61.00 per night P parking next to hotel if you find ... maximum stay is 90 minutes . Parking is free between 20:00PM and 10:00AM i paid £3.07 from 18:30PM until 10 in the morning. Electric car charger available next to the paymetter .

I was staying at the hotel few nights. Rooms are clean, personel very friendly but the location isnt the best one at all. Near the main station, lot of homeless people, drunks on the street etc. Screaming during the night… I know thats not a problem of the hotel, but overall it take a review down.

Great service during a short work related stay. The hotel is located about two minutes away from the central train station, making it very accessible. The room was clean, with a good working desk and convenient commodities. The reception were kind, and breakfast had a lot of food options.

Very well placed, just near the train station. The rooms are clean and nice. The service and the food are great too. Stayed there for an international conference, everything was well organised.

The hotel staff was 5 stars, they were super helpful and the breakfast was good. It is very clean and comfortable as well. The issue I had was with connecting to Wifi. I was here for a work trip and connecting to Wifi is super important, it was very bad connection that constantly dropped.

We had a perfect stay during the Internationale Spieletage 2022. The staff were extremely friendly and supportive, showed us our rooms, and took care of the luggage. Rooms spacious and clean, the hotel was overall very clean and in perfect shape. Very comfortable beds and a quiet night in our appartment facing the courtyard, haven't slept so well for some time. Good drinks and snacks in the bar during the evening. Breakfast was perfect, they made the most of the limited space, with many different options, and great fresh Brötchen. Good fitness room offering all the standards. Very child-friendly, despite a business focus. Great location 3 min from the main station. Streets have the usual mixed crowd for such a location, but did not feel unsafe at any time. This will be our preferred stay for the Essen area in the future.

Wow, what a brilliant hotel. We got an upgrade to a newly refurbished apartment which was fit for an emperor. The staff were all great.

Recently stayed at hotel Essener Hof and have to say it is one of the finest hotels I have ever stayed in. The rooms were comfortable and spacious with bed linen and towels changed every day. The rooms were also cleaned every day. The staff were very courteous and friendly and keen to help out in any way. The location of the hotel is perfect with the city's transport hub just 2 minutes walk away from which you can get the train, underground, bus and tram. A taxi rank is also located here. A shopping thoroughfare is just 1 minutes walk away with a huge selection of designer and high street shops. This area also has an abundance of Cafes and some restaurants. In order to enhance their clients stat at the hotel I would suggest that tea/coffee making facilities be provided in the rooms and that they consider reducing the price of breakfast from €15 to €10. I would also suggest that the bar and restaurant be open 7 days per week. Overall wee greatly enjoyed our stay at the hotel and would have no hesitation in recommending it and we would definitely stay here if we return to Essen.

Good looking hotel. Very clean and comfortable but I got a very small room. Good size bathroom. Breakfast offers a larger variety than normal breakfast buffet including champagne.

Great place to stay in Essen! Much larger rooms than the norm on Europe, comfortable beds, courteous staff. Also very close to the train station which is important for getting around.
