It's my first time to go hiking alone. Awash is very hot, mosquitoes will eat you alive so dress for hot weather and remember to take buzz off or something like that. But I say the place is amazing, I camp for the night n it was blissful 😊. I love it

We witnessed much animal life, from Kudu, warthog, dik dik, monkeys, and crocodiles. There were many species of birds of which I cannot remember names at this time. I even felt brave enough to touch a croc's tail (with a 4 foot stick)!!

If you are lucky you can see many kind of animals, but you can be sure you’ll see crocodile in there.

Not much to write home about. The park isn't really well enough maintained to provide an actual area for wildlife so there are very few animals around. Guides and rangers are friendly but not motivated and not well trained at all. There are a few beautiful spots; the view to the gorge is nice and the falls provide a peaceful spot. The lodge by the falls is good.

Lovely, easy to access park providing opportunity to see many wild animals in their natural environment. The typography along the gorge for the Awash river is striking & epic! The drive to the volcanic hot springs on the north side of the main road is fairly long & rough, but it is well worth it! The hot springs are iconic and constantly changing according to our guide in response to my confusion about not being able to recognize or locate a spot that I had previously visited, everything was completely different.

Arrangements within the Lalibela area were quite good and the home stay was very interesting. Hotel quality outside of this area did not always meet acceptable standards given the amount that was charged for the tour, but some efforts were made to address such concerns which were appreciated. The provided guides throughout the northern Ethiopia tour were generally of high quality (except for the Danakil Depression where the guides were more more logistics people).

(Translated by Google) Hiking in the Lalibela Mountains with an Eco-trekking organization. In this article I want to talk about my experience with Lalibela Eco-trekking last week. Molla, the young man from Lalibela started with this project a little over a year ago and already has many good references in several websites. I organized a 4-day trek from Lalibela town to Ethiopia's third highest mountain, Mount Abune Yosef and back to Lalibela via a sacred village where one of the most beautiful ancient churches in the country, Yemrehane Kristos. Molla personally saw me in advance to discuss all the details. What I really like about this trek is that we only sleep in the houses of the locals living in the mountains, which makes this trekking an exceptional cultural experience. We sleep in traditional houses where the whole family lives under a roof with all the animals. Of course you should not expect much luxury but in my opinion the possibility of having access to rural families makes you feel better with a lack of hot water. In houses there were enough blankets and clean sleeping bags for a comfortable and guaranteed night in cold temperatures. The same hike was well organized with about 5-7 hours of walking per day. The price of $ 60 includes a guide who speaks good English, a porter with a donkey and a chef who prepares three meals a day that are included in the price. The food is simple, vegetable based with rice and pasta that gives enough energy for hiking. The quantity of meals was absolutely sufficient and the meals were always freshly prepared. In addition there was coffee, tea and snacks during breaks. Also very nice and the fact that we start hiking directly from the city of Lalibela. With other organized hikes you often have to pay for transportation to the place where you start walking. Molla is therefore pick me up at the hotel with the whole team and after 4 days I will be accompanied again. As it is an Eco-local project, the local community benefits from a share of the income. In addition Molla started a project to support some children in their training to improve their future prospects. So I can only recommend to choose Lalibela Eco Trekking for a real experience of the cohabitation of local communities and their dramatic environment. Finally I want to say that I wrote this article to thank Molla for the good experience with his project and to facilitate to other tourists the possibility of an additional experience to the churches of Lalibela. As the transportation of the rest of the country is not so easy I find it a shame that the majority of tourists coming to Lalibela see the churches, which surely are beautiful, but if we end the trip to Lalibela with a hike we still understand a lot more why local people are so religious. Enjoy your stay at the sacred city of Lalibela and greet Molla for me .... Michael

They have a restaurant area overlooking the falls, in the morning three crocodiles go to sunbathe. They go on excursions to see wild animals. The oryx herds are impressive. Nothing fancy. Everything basic but the environment deserves it. Impresionantes. Nada de lujos. Todo básico pero el entorno lo merece.

(Translated by Google) We did a wonderful 2 day trek with this agency. Some negative points: the program was not the one announced when we booked (no donkeys to carry the business, not the same stages, no observation of wild animals ...) and we discovered it as and as we got closer, our guide was very nice but was not very talkative, we had to ask questions (a lot) to have explanations because of himself he didn't tell us much, we ate at the restaurant. 'Occidentale (rice, vegetables, pasta, tomato sauce, pancakes, scrambled eggs ...) without having the choice when we would have liked to eat traditional, like them and with them ... Positives: the hike was fabulous, the landscapes fantastic, we were able to cuddle the inhabitants of the highlands, understand their way of life, exchange with them, and even enjoy a few hours with a family in a traditional house where we offered homemade coffee and beer, we had a lot of fun in the evening learning traditional dance and singing, a great experience. We were accommodated in very beautiful private huts and had very decent outdoor sanitary facilities. Conclusion: we were treated too much like kings for our taste (but we imagine that it is the request of many tourists) and would have liked that the program of the estimate and that carried out correspond, or at least be informed of the change of program. For the rest, it was a great experience! Change of scenery guaranteed! Prepare well for the altitude.

We travelled to Ethiopia with LETT quite a while back, in November 2017, but I realised I did not write a review after the trip and these guys really deserve the full star review! We (2 couples in their late twenties) did a 3 week tour via Addis-Bahir Dar-Gondar-3 day trek in Simien Mountains-Aksum-rock churches-3 days Danakil-Lalibela-Mile Serdo-Addis with Sammy as our driver and guide. We really pushed them hard because we wanted to see as much as possible of this beautiful country and they delivered like the professionals they are! Everything went smoothly, we really enjoyed Sammy's company and all of his help and tips along the way, and they organised great tours with local companies in the different regions. We cannot recommend Lalibela Eco Trekking Tours enough!
