I’ll start by saying the space is very beautiful. Most food places either have a nice facility or good food. This is one of the few I’ve had with both. I ate exclusively off their vegan menu and was blown away. We had the vegan Mac and cheese, jerk tofu and the vegan chikin sandwich. Every single thing was a hit. I’d say our favorite was the Mac and cheese plus the chikin sandwich. Everything was fried perfectly, seasoned well and made very intentionally. I’ll be back very regularly. Great for vegans as well.

Hmm, Caribbean in Ethiopia. That was an odd just thinking about it, but Africa never ceases to amaze me and Shifta restaurant is one of those rare gems, our should I say pirates treasure. What started off as a beer run ended with a evening of memories. Flashback - the Curry masala chicken took me back to my hometown, Durban - South Africa style of cooking. A little mild for my taste bufs, but the food was still full of flavor and I enjoyed every bit of it. The restaurant is tucked away and can be easily missed but quite easy to find. The decor is bright and vibrant and carries the reggae theme throughout out. After being in Ethiopia for a while I come to realise that all Ethiopian music has the same sound to it so it was good to hear some reggae beats. Sorry guys. The place is funky and fun and was quiet for a Tuesday night, but we were there for the food and habasha(local brand beer). The staff are quiet friendly and I went on their recommendation to try my meal. Good choice guys. A fantastic experience but I would love to go back when life returns to normal. If you in Ethiopia and want some Caribbean flavours, Shifta is the place to be.

Excellent food. You have to be patient as they prepare as you order, however it is worth the waiting. The presentation is nice, service is good. Good is very tasty, I had mango curry with Wolof rice, it was spicy, and the waiter told me, but it was not too spicy. If you want to have a change and go for carabian options, you will not be disappointed. You also have non spicy options.

The place is very pretty. The people are cool and friendly. The food is amazing! I can easily go there daily. It is also close to @iceaddis. If you read this, please don't hesitate to visit the place. They close on Mondays. The upstairs patio is a bit shakey. But it could hold many people at the party. Beautiful place in the middle of Addis!

After two weeks in Ethiopia our local friend showed us this newly opened restaurant, what a bliss! This was truly the best food and local homemade beer we had in Ethiopia. The owners were extremely hospitable and friendly, the interior decor of the restaurant is just wonderful. Can't recommend Shifta enough!

I’m so upset that the only place as a traveling black American I actually liked in 16 months of traveling closed only a week after my first visit. Was hoping to meet my unwhitewashed, pure, wife here but I guess it’s just not in my cards

One of youth hang out spots in Addis, with events happening regularly. Food service is great and the atmosphere is not matched. Only down side is the sound system. My top pick for get togethers and fun time with the guys and girls

Bad tasting food BUT Great Vibes, Great Artwork etc. I ordered the brown stew chicken and it was so bad I couldn’t eat it. Come and get a drink and listen to music etc but leave the food be.

The place, atmosphere and music is nice. However we were expecting to have house made beer, the draft beer that they gave was not good. Apaet from that they had a vegan menu but not all choices were available such as tofu jerk and mango stew. I would recommend to improve in that sense.

Nice place, good vibes..I just give 3 stars as my jerk burger was mehh, burned a bit on the outside, which I'm fine with, but a little undercooked inside. I'd go again and try something else..good service, chill locale

Hospitality and atmosphere are important to me. Food is too, of course. But, I met the owner, and she hung out with my fam and me for a bit. I appreciated the time she spent with us, since she is no doubt a busy woman. To me, that’s good hospitality. The restaurant is decorated so nicely. Very creative. It totally enhances the dining experience. As for the food, we enjoyed what we ordered. We got the oxtails, jerk chicken, stew chicken, Shifta salad, gomen, cabbage, fried bananas, and various kids of drinks for the whole fam.
