I enjoyed the atmosphere as well as the staff, I met Nelson at the truck around the time it was closing and he is seriously the sweetest! will definitely be back for the pineapple jalapeño margarita. plenty of vegetarian options which is a major plus.

Legit tasting Mexican food for the price. It's a food cart with a few picnic tables out side to enjoy your food. Tried their monster burrito, which was delicious and definitely big enough to share. Definitely make a stop here if you're looking for mexican food

Definitely not family friendly, no options for kids at all. You can’t even order a single taco or a small plate or rice and beans. The tacos come in an order of three. No complementary chips and salsa- chips and salsa start at $5 and the salsa tastes like store bought. This is NOT authentic Mexican food this is Americanized Mexican food. If you want authentic Mexican you are better off going to the taco truck on Royal Ave. FYI shredded cheddar cheese dose not belong in Mexican food. Service was horrible the waitress had no idea about the menu.

Excellent meal. I had the Taquitos & made it a full meal by adding Rice & Beans. I ordered Horchata to drink. The price was low, the food was incredible & the staff was even more incredible. There were 14 of us & every dish looked amazing. I took photos of 2 other folks dishes as well. A Nelson's Burrito without Tortilla & Hard Tacos. My 4 Taquitos were not dry like at other places. Crunchy on the outside & melt in your mouth delectable inside. I had the Chicken, not the Beef. There was a good amount of Cotija Cheese & Guacamole on them with lettuce, Tomato & regular shredded Cheese as well. Most places skimp on the Cotija which irks me, but not here! The Refried Beans I could have just ordered a bowl full of & been happy. These were the best Refried Beans I have had yet in Lane County. The Rice was good. My Horchata was refreshing, just too sweet for me, (I am weird & don't care for really sweet beverages.) so I shall not order it as my beverage again & stick to water. (I added water to it & it was fine.) The Chips & Salsa, I also could have made a meal of! Tri colored Chips & Salsa that was fresh & had just enough kick to it. I can't eat spicy stuff & Salsa at so many other places is too spicy. These Chips did not taste store bought either, so these are officially my new FAVORITE Chips & Salsa! The staff there, as I had mentioned earlier were all so incredible. On point & so kind & frolicky! Is that a word? ♡ I regret not ever having come here sooner & I will be back for more happy eating adventures!

I’ve lived 3 blocks away for the past couple years and Nelson’s is a staple for me & the wife. The food has consistently been both delicious, and satisfying in the way only a home cooked meal that was made with love can leave me filling. My tried & true is the basic chicken burrito - $8 for a full meal & often leftovers for later. And the owner Nelson (in the photo) is the extra magic that has me leaving this review. He’s Eugene’s most charismatic & joyous person, which I swear has to do with why the food feels so nice & filling Anyway if you’re in the mood for a burrito & near the whitaker this place is miles better than any restaurant in a 10 mile radius

Nelson’s in the Whit: So great! Good food and dessert! The prices are good and there’s a really nice happy hour menu with great drinks. The people here are so nice and the music/overall vibe is great. I’m excited to check out the upcoming events.

Love the food and the employees are great. I brought my boyfriend from the UK here (there’s no authentic Mexican there). He loved it as much as me and he’s so excited to have birria tacos again when he comes back!

We don't eat out often, but when we do this is our favorite spot. Kids or no kids, the food is phenomenal, the drinks are refreshing and reasonably priced. The food is so good that we always get extra meal to bring home. TJ is the host with the most. He always greets us like family. The atmosphere is cozy but definitely passes the vibe check no matter what the of day you choose to dine. All of the entertainment and events are affordable and of unforgettable quality. A big factor for us is that this is one of very few LGBT+ establishments locally. Nelson's is a safe place. 10/10, I highly recommend!

We had chicken tortilla soup and shrimp tacos. I added beans and rice to mine and it was delicious! First time there and the staff was attentive to my dietary needs. Wonderful experience! Definitely planning to go back. I took off a Star for atmosphere just because it did get very loud inside when the place was full and everyone was talking. Overwhelming for me but no shade on them. It was still a wonderful experience!

I went here last year at the prior location for their Birria taco night (which were really good). I came again recently at their new location and it was just as good. They have great margaritas, but don’t have their liquor license for the new location yet. I had the Chile relleno burrito this time and made it wet and it was really good! Very flavorful. My mom enjoyed her vegan burrito as well. I would’ve loved to have had more food, but we were already stuffed as we had eaten a lot earlier in the day. Our waitress Jorden was so sweet and helpful. Will def come again!

The best tacos place in Eugene. The food is fresh and delicious. The chicken and fish tacos both were amazing. The side of habenaro, and chili sauce definitely enhanced the flavors more. Definitely a goto place for the tacos here.

Nelson’s in the Whit (the evening location for Nelson’s Taqueria) is our group go-to for Taco Tuesday. Our group can range from 6 to 16, and we are always treated well. The drinks are great and the food is phenomenal! I highly recommend reservations.

The breakfast burrito was so delicious! The eggs were cooked to perfection, the bacon was crispy, and the salsa had just the right amount of kick. The portions were generous, and the prices were very reasonable. The atmosphere was cozy and authentic, and the service was top-notch. This place has such a positive vibe and the food is good too! I recommend sit down vs take out - Did wet burrito and fish taco - the salsa is hotter at home 😇 Like to see a little more veggie but will go back. Hard to find consistent good food in Eugene - so go now ✌️👍

First time here! Sorry I forgot to take pics until we were partially through eating, SO GOOD. Hubs got a wet burrito and I got the hard taco plate (they are def fried, yum!). The guy who helped us was so kind and funny. We will be back again!

I had the 2 enchiladas with rice and beans. They were perfect. The carnitas were some of the best I have ever had. I will definitely be going back.

These tacos are soooo good. The chicken meat is well seasoned and nicely cooked. Such a good flavor. The tortillas are great. These will definitely satisfy your taco cravings. Nelson and the crew are super nice and friendly. Love supporting these good people.

Nelson’s is absolutely phenomenal! The food is fantastic and the employees are extremely kind, patient, and friendly. Nelson is also amazing and is always so nice and from the moment you walk in you feel like family! My go to’s are the Nelson’s carne asada wet burrito, fish tacos and the shrimp Tacos! This time I went with the carne asada wet burrito and the birria tacos! A big thank you to Nelson and everyone who works at this amazing establishment for being so kind and wonderful and making every-time I go there a special one!

This might just be the best Mexican food cart in Eugene. The wet burrito had me feeling all sorts of ways. Would recommend to anyone that's needs to scratch the mexican food itch.

Delicious chile relleno plate, habanero margs, and carne asada fries! Wonderful atmosphere for dinner or a late night meal. Nelson, TJ, and the staff are so welcoming (and sassy too)!

We aren't from the area and went in search of street tacos...we ended up at this place however the little Taco truck was closed...across the street though is Nelson's inside a historic looking house, I suppose they moved or are associated with one another? Either way if you end up at the taco truck like we did, just walk across the street lol...excellent street tacos and quesadillas! Although the beans for the quesadilla plate come directly on it, not on the side. I wasn't expecting that but it tasted wonderful! Ask for the beans on the side though if you don't want them inside lol The salsa was also very tasty and the service was very fast and friendly! Thank you for a great experience! :-)

I want to like this place so much, especially in their new digs on the old Bari and Papa Soul site. Atmosphere, service and drinks are wonderful. The food just doesn't hit the mark for me. Enchiladas were dry, meat chunky rather than shredded chicken breast that I much prefer. On a previous visit, the Burrito was pedestrian (in contrast to the wonderful burritos served at El Jaguar in SE Eugene). My wife's hard tacos were equally disappointing. I'll give Nelly's another try because everything about it is lovely except the most important piece, the food.

Great place to eat in the Whitaker area with friendly staff and great customer service. Their Carne Asada fries are my favorite. Will definitely come back soon.
