National Institute for Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering (NIBGE) is a sub organization within NIAB Faisalabad. This is also an entry point for colony of whole organization. They do research over agricultural biotechnology. They also offer M. Phil & doctorate in biotechnology of agricultural. Situated in vast area of 15 marrabas (squares - 375 acres), they have developed several new genetically developed fruits, vegetables & crops. Don't know why but they don't sale their produced fruits & livestock's from their farms. Specially their product of cotton, mango & oranges could bring a good revolution in agricultural industry of Pakistan if they could have a real strong marketing of their valuable research.

Works under the umbrella of PIEAS and runs by PAEC Pakistan Atomic Energy Comission). PAEC runs four institutes working in the areas of Agriculture and Bilogy. Other three are NIFA located in Peshawar, NIA in Tandojam and NIAB (sister institute of NIBGE) in Faisalabad NIBGE offers M. Phil. and PhD programs anually. Almost all the faculty is foreign qualified. And NIBGEANs are working all over the world in academia and industry. Regarded as one of the best institute working in the field of Biotechnology.

Super excellent R&D

NIBGE is one of the only two universities in the country to have an electron microscope. However, the bathrooms, hostels and hostel kitchens are horrible. None of the toilets flush and there is algae everywhere. Their research and facilities are good, though, and the work they do is very useful to the country. The aab o hawa of Faisalabad is, however, awful. The water is full of minerals because of industrial pollution and the only cotton fields remaining are at NIBGE. Your stomach will hurt so be careful about drinking the water. The cafeteria serves very strange food.
