Breathtaking. No words can't describe this beautiful and peaceful place. Super recommended.

We came here an unusually sunny day when the sun had warmed up the dark sand in the easternmost section of this deep bay open to the north. We put our camera on a tripod, got into our bathing suits and turned the self timer to 10 seconds. This gave us enough time to look as if we were enjoying our swim, which, incidentally, we did. Cute little village, a church and a surf shop plus a bus load of Danish tourists completed the picture…

Huge beach with big waves. Lots of surfing influence here. There's viking graves a couple hundred meters away. There's also an easy trail along the left side of the coast where we spotted many jellyfish at the end. The cliffs are great and you can see the witch and the giant rock formations across the water from Tjørnuvik.

The best beach available in the whole country. It's a real struggle to find somewhere to swim in the Faroes and this is as good as it gets. There's a car park and a public toilet available. The toilets are heated and have got handy hangers for changing. The view is as good as it gets really. The black sand is very picturesque. Watch out for the large waves and currents when in the water.

In my opinion the best place in Faroe Islands at the moment. The small village is in a valley with a small beach but the views are stunning and amazing, and the calm is incredible. I love this place. Also, you can practice some aquatic activities or just walking around the village

Very nice town, tidy and colorful. Best part of it is the small café just in the center where you can taste by far the best waffle and cream of the Islands.

Please note not to drive pass the public parking area as it’s only for local residents. Can get a little gloomy should the weather be poor as there’s almost no shelter around. Quite a bit of parking available right beside a public restroom. Otherwise it’s a lovely beach and worth the drive over.

Does it get any better than this? Small, quaint village at the end of the road with a perfectly fine black sand beach with incredible views of the sea stacks. Does it get any better?

The road system on the island ends in Tjørnuvík. Therefore there is no through traffic here. The place is nestled between steeply rising mountains and the sun only shines here in the morning, as Tjørnuvík is only open to the east. Along the steep coast, a single-lane road leads here, on which there is also a regular bus service. A challenging ancient path leads from Saksun over the mountains.

Absolutely gorgeous. Black sand beach meets the fresh water of the ocean. There is a bunch of stuff to do if you like water or just to wander. Take the time to stop by and appreciate the beautiful scenery.

This small beach is nestled between steep slopes of green on three sides. A beautiful place. And you can surf! Don’t leave town without a waffle made fresh in a kind gentleman’s home… just leave your shoes by the door!

Beautiful town tucked away with a surf spot. Views of witches finger is also nice in the distance

Very quiet and remote but a must do if you're visiting the Faroe Islands in my opinion. You can get there by car or by foot from Saksun.
