What drew us here was the great reviews and Rose’s Cafe lived up to those reviews. We got there early but Rose was kind and opened a bit early for us. The Cafe is located on the water with incredible views. The setting along the fjord alone is incredible. Parking is ample. The interior is intimate with artwork throughout. There is warm cozy feel to the place. The menu has several great options, the coffee made for other guests smelled incredible, and the desserts looked delicious. We ordered the Spicy Burger and Fish and Chips. The burger was honestly one of the best burgers we have ever had in our lives! The Fish and chips was from local cod and was fantastic. The tartar sound was perfect for the fish and the chips. Thinly breaded so the fish itself could shine. The fries were great! They have some nice beers and wine to chose from. Price point is good especially for the quality you get. Rose takes pride in her cafe and her effort shows. The food is excellent and if in the area we absolutely recommend! Look

We had an amazing time at Rose’s cafe, it is the best we had visited on this island. Rose’s warm hospitality was felt the minute we stepped in. Her smoke salmon with salad, soup for the day, fish and chips were all yummy and made with love. We would definitely recommend her cafe to our friends!

Rose’s Café was our favorite meal on the Faroe! The place is very cute and cozy. Rose was very attentive and incredibly passionate about her food-which only made the experience that much better. We had the butter chicken and the steak and potatoes. Both were very tender and tasted amazing. It was exactly what we were needing. If you’re on the island you have to try this place!

After a fantastic hike to the top of Slættaratindur we drove 10min to Rose's Cafe. This was a very pleasant surprise. Rose has a very nice Cafe/Restaurant and great tasting food. I had a great steak and a chocolate cake as dessert. Also, chatting with Rose was also really fun. However, try to make sure to contact Rose one working day in advance, for example via Facebook Messenger. The cafe is for pre-booked guests (almost) only, especially for the great "Fish of the day". In our two weeks trip to the faroe islands we went there three times. :))

I could not put into words how thankful I am to have stepped into Rose’s cafe. I walked in thinking it would be just another cafe but I was wildly wrong. The food was passionately put together and delivered. I had the smoked salmon, fish/chips, and apple pie. To drink, a coffee. All specular. When you couldn’t think your experience couldn’t get better with the food, then you have Rose. She is such an inspirational and loving person. I feel very blessed I got some time to connect with her, she loves what she has created and you can tell. She is one of the most thoughtful individual I have ever met. If you plan a trip to the Faroe Islands, you would be doing yourself a massive disservice by not walking through her door. Thank you for your time today Rose!

Restaurant with a view, friendly owner and really nice food. We both had the butter chicken curry on the specials and it was just what we needed after a busy day driving and walking. Very reasonably priced too, for the Faroes.

Excellent little restaurant by the fjord. We didn't have a reservation and it was very busy, so we had fish and chips .. which was delicious. Rose was wonderful and we had a great time chatting with her and a couple from Norway.

The best fish and chips on the Faroe Islands + Rose is such a wonderful owner. Always worth a visit, views right onto the fjord make everything even better.

I waited 70 years to come here and I traveled 4667 miles from San Francisco to be welcomed into Rose’s Cafe. I chose Roses’ for my 70th birthday dinner. And I don’t think I would have wanted to be anywhere else. Sitting with my wife and looking out at the landscape with waterfalls and ocean as we were being served up Rose’s delicious food was sublime. And Rose was the most perfect host. So warm and open, we talked of shared experiences and her menu/food at some point that added so much to the evening. Make sure you end your dinner with one of her desserts.

The people that have published the negative opinions must have never eaten in an actual restaurant because the waiting times are more than acceptable for a normal restaurant experience. Food is great services pretty good and the price is more than acceptable when you take into account that you are on the Faroe islands. I recommend this place with the whole of my heart and the five ever visit Faroe Islands again I will visit this place definitely

Wonderful restaurant with delicious food. The dishes were served in nice looking way. We ate fish of the day (cod) with baked potatoes and it was really tasty.

After getting stuck and being dropped off here by a very kind local we were warmly welcomed by Rose and her Chef. We chose the Butter chicken daily special and fish and chips with local water. The environment is cosy, warm, immaculate and welcoming, the food was absolutely divine and super freshly cooked and prepared (great curry!!) and the toilet was also in an immaculate condition. I just found out Rose also does most of the cooking and her chef does most of the baking - she’s a control freak with high standards and we can only agree with the latter!! The view from the windows looks like a painting, and cafe is on the bus route 200 if coming back from the highest peak. Give Rose’s a try! We highly recommend :)

If you are looking for a more local experience, this is the place to go! We visited Roses café twice during our stay in the Faroe Islands. Rose is very friendly and conversed with us at length, while locals popped in and out to say hi to her. She serves everything from casual fare to a fancier "fish of the day" dish. The location is quaint and has an isolated charm to it remote from any other restaurants and near a small harbor. The views are as great as they are every else in the Faroe Islands!

We stopped by on our way to a hike and were pleasantly surprised by how good and fresh the fish and chips were. They are a must order! We also got the Greek salad which was very fresh. The ambience was very light and bright as well. Rose has invested in making the place feel warm and designed.

This is not only the best food in the Faroe Islands, but some of the best food I’ve ever had. Everything - the fish, the French fries, the desserts, the coffee - was fresh and delicious. Rose also is so kind and sweet and was lovely to converse with. Highly recommend if you’re anywhere in the Faroe Islands - worth the drive from any of the islands!

Food was really good but it's one of these places where you feel like the staff is doing you a favor by letting you stay rather than catering to your needs. I'm by no means a needy person but I'm not a big fan of rolling your eyes at customers for asking a somewhat silly question. Also constant need for telling staff that the food is great, which it somehow really is. Bit weird but I still recommend it. 3 stars I guess.

You are definitely going to want to stop for lunch or dinner here. The food is deliciously fresh, and we could tell that the kitchen did a lot of little things that made the meal both healthy and delectable (eg the burger had the freshest lettuce and tomato we saw on the island). A lot of care goes into this food. Rose herself is a true gem - it was like we were welcomed into her home (a home with a wonderful view).

While the wind outside is pushing the sea over the sky and you come inside to save your life, yes, you enter a little place with a stunning view and an anonymous atmosphere (like so many other places surrounded by the same tasteless music and an enormous telly on the wall) where you order the best soup of your life. Priceless. Life changing experience. The Ethiopian chef is one of the greatest. You should definitely try whatever she cooks.

Beautiful, intimate restaurant with lovely views overlooking the green mountains and lake. The owner was very welcoming. When I received my meal I was it was not only delicious but the presentation was beautiful. You could tell the owner/chef poured her heart into every dish and took the time to give it love. I would most definitely return again. Rose was a delight.

We had two terrific meals at Rose's Cafe. We showed up as walk-ins the first time. We had a very juicy burger and a salad with a very generous portion of smoked salmon. You could tell that everything was made with a gourmet touch. We ended with some delicious homemade cakes which turned out to be traditional Faroese. We liked it so much that we reserved a second meal for the fish special a few nights later. We did not regret returning. The fish was fresh and perfectly paired with sauce and vegetables. To end the meal, we tried some more of Rose's specially-prepared cakes with ice cream. There is not a single item we cannot recommend. The coffee is good and strong too. Rose was kind enough to share her wifi network, allowing us to even get some work done while enjoying our meal. The connection was very good! The best part of our visits was getting to talk to Rose. She seems to love what she does, both serving the community/tourists, and serving creative and delicious food. She has an extensive knowledge of so many types of cuisines, and was able to give us some glimpses into how we can be our own best chefs at home. Her outlook on life and real honesty make her someone you will want to stop to talk with! Although we can say that so many Faroese people we have met have been so warm and helpful, Rose truly stands out :) Don't forget to send a reservation request and make sure to secure your spot too!
