Honestly some of the best food I've ever had in my life! Was such a wonderful experience to share with my friends and was great getting to try all the faroese food. On reflection, my time in the Faroe Islands would not have been complete without this experience and I would recommend everyone gives it a go! You will be treated to more food than you could imagine and it will all taste delicious!

We thoroughly enjoyed meeting Durita on our visit and would highly recommend FaroeGuide. What a delightful person: kind, welcoming, and extremely knowledgeable. The food she prepared for us was delicious, and we enjoyed it even more because she so thoughtfully described each traditional food’s preparation and history. Talking with Durita definitely enriched our visit to the Faroe Islands. We hope we can come back soon and spend more time here dining and hiking with FaroeGuide!

This was a fantastic experience for our family. There are several restaurants in the area where you can taste authentic Faroese food, but we had the opportunity to have a meal with a Faroese family as well. We learned a lot about the culture and had interesting discussions. The food and drink were fantastic, from the beer and wine to the dessert. The highlights were the traditional foods, although the fish soup was also memorable. I would highly recommend this.

I had the most wonderful time here! The home is beautiful, modern and comfy and the room I stayed in was amazing! Durita and her family are incredibly welcoming as well... She not only helped me with my trip, but I also got to join in one of her Faroese meal events which was absolutely incredible. I had the best food, learned a ton about Faroese culture and met people from all over the world. Thank you Durita for the best stay. I hope I can return again very soon!

Since you are looking for accommodation on the Faroe Islands, you probably already made the very wise decision to pay a visit to this beautiful remote country. And Faroe Guide will then provide you with the perfect location to explore the different islands and its capital. The accommodation is clean and well-equipped (including very addictive sheepskins in every room), the optional car rental (recommended) makes traveling from and to the airport and locations throughout the country very easy, and Durita is a lovely host. We highly, highly recommend to opt for the home diner prepared by the hosts – what better way to discover a culture than through its cuisine!

I visited for an evening, participating in a communal dinner. I showed up on my own, but had an absolute blast with the strangers that I met around the table. That was none the least due to the atmosphere created by the ever so friendly and likeable hosts. The dining room and the view are great, the food traditional and tasty and all I could eat, all the dishes were introduced in an educational and interesting way, we heard loads about Faroese culture. I strongly recommend trying one of these communal dinners, whether you show up in a group or as a couple (both of which some did that evening) or just on your own like a couple of us.

An amazing experience to share with friends and getting to meet different people from across the world. The dinner was great and allowed us to try traditional Faroese food. Would definitely recommend. Such wonderful hosts!

If I’m ever back in faroe (which I hope to be) I will be staying with Durita in her home again. It’s an extremely cozy and well kitted out house and you have complete access to a shared kitchenette and oven space upstairs; as well as a pristine bathroom with a massive shower. I loved the relaxed vibe of the accommodation as it’s a given that everyone sorts themselves out and everything is quietly supplied. We even woke up one morning to a baked cake from our host. On my first morning I woke to an email inviting em to a dinner Durita was hosting that night where I would get the chance to meet other tourists and compare experiences and get tips. We were told lots of stories about Faroese life and upbringing and had a beautiful dinner of things not available in restaurants (such as whale beef steak) over discussions about What traditions in the culture mean. It was a beautiful experience. Overall I would highly highly recommend choosing FaroeGuide as your accommodation if you want something with easy access to the capital Tórshavn and to any main routes to other islands. And because I found FaroeGuide of booking.com I wasn’t aware that the hosts are open to planning excursions and such. Durita was very generous with her information despite this and when I come back I will be looking to spend some more time under her guidance.

We had a meal at their home to try Faroese food. It was a very educational and delicious experience! Would highly recommend. Highlights included schnapps out of a lamb horn, dried whale, and fermented lamb.

I attended the Faroese Dinner and it was absolutely delicious and plenty of everything. Potatoes even from their own garden! I learnt a lot about the culture, the cuisine and the host is such a welcoming and lovely lady. We were nine people altogether so not only did I meet a local, but also other travellers with a common interest in the Faroese culture. Truly an experience not to be missed!
